Subject: Invitation to join as “Resource Speaker” on our Seminar on Fire Prevention

and Safety Consciousness

Sir:

Brigada Eskwela has been a tradition of Bayanihan and Voluteerism between and amongst
school, community for long years now. This years Brigada eskwela with the theme “Matatag
na Bayan, para sa Maunlad na Paarlan”, will start on May 20, 2019, which is the week for
the Implementation of the adopt-A-School program of the Department education.

The Department of Education (DepEd) issues the enclosed Guidelines on Strengthening the Fire
Safety and Awareness Program DepEd Order No. 28, s. 2016, (FSAP) which aims to establish
specific roles, responsibilities, and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for the fire safety and
awareness program of schools.

As part of our effort in ensuring our School safety and Preparedness, we humbly request your
good office to conduct a Seminar on Fire Prevention drill and Safety Consciousness Program in
connection to the school's advocacy " Kaligtasan sa Sunog: Alamin, Gawin at isabuhay Natin."
on May 21, 2019 Tuesday 8:30 am at GRSNHS. We believe that the entire GRS Academic
community and other stakeholders will benefit from this said seminar workshop.

It will be much appreciated if you can send us skilled officers on fire disasters but also on
rescue techniques and for natural disasters as well.

Thank you very much for your usual support.

Respectfully yours.
In preparation for the observance of this year’s Fire Prevention Month, the Bureau of Fire Protection will
conduct a series of activities focusing on the theme slogan: “Kaligtasan sa Sunog: Alamin, Gawin at
isabuhay Natin.”

On the first day of March, there will be a simultaneous conduct of “Walk for a Fire-Free and a Fire-Safe
Nation” nationwide, except for the BFP NHQ and NCR which will conduct the said activity on March 3 at
the Quezon Memorial Circle to be led by BFP Officer-in-Charge CSUPT ARIEL A BARAYUGA and to be
participated in by firefighters, fire volunteers, public servants, NGOs, students, professionals and people
from all walks of life. At exactly 12:00 noon, all BFP Fire Stations nationwide will simultaneously conduct
a five-minute blowing of horns of all firefighting apparatus.

One of the highlights of the activity is the first BFP National Fire Olympics on March 3-4 which will be
categorized in 3 levels such as the Industrial, Barangay, and the Uniformed Personnel. The said event
aims to exhibit the fire fighting prowess of various Fire Departments, as well as to promote
sportsmanship and to develop a healthy camaraderie among the BFP personnel, NGO’s, and other public
servants.

The line-up of activities also includes TV and radio guesting emphasizing the importance of fire safety;
Berong Bumbero sa Paaralan or the conduct of fire safety awareness campaign in all elementary schools
thru story-telling from March 3 to 7; Nationwide Fun-Run dubbed as Takbo Laban sa Sunog will run on
March 7; Conduct of refresher training course to all volunteer Fire Brigades and Brgy. Disaster Control
Brigade of all Regional Offices/Fire Stations on March 9; from March 11 to 13, all fire stations will be
inviting school children in their area of responsibility for a three-day Open House to give lectures on fire
safety and provide them proper knowledge in using different firefighting equipment.

On March 14, Fire Prevention Games and Contests will be simultaneously conducted nationwide. The
contests include Drawing Contest for Elementary; Poster Making for High School students; Photo
Contests open to those who are interested to join; and Singing contest (duet) for BFP Personnel. All
winning entries from Regional Offices will be displayed at the BFP-NHQ lobby from March 17-31. The
national winners will be judged on March 18-19.

For the whole duration of Fire Prevention Month, the Fire Safety Awareness Campaign will be
continuous. Leaflets, posters and other information materials will be distributed in different areas.
Lectures on fire prevention, inspection of establishments, testing of fire hydrants, fire disaster
emergency evacuation planning, fire drills, monitoring of all hazard operations, identification of fire
prone areas and conduct of pre-fire planning to areas identified, caravans and Barangay Ugnayan will be
intensified. Said activities will be conducted by all BFP Fire Stations natiowide.

There will be a Culminating Ceremony on the last day of March at the BFP National Headquarters and all
BFP fire stations nationwide.

The Bureau of Fire Protection has been observing Fire Prevention Month for 49 years now. It is being
done annually to strengthen its relationship with the different sectors of the community and encourage
them to be partners in promoting and achieving a fire-safe and fire-free nation.

This will be held from May 30 to June 4, 2016 in all public schools all over the country. This is one week
of the year, where we overwhelmingly see the Bayanihan spirit in action. Millions of Filipinos take part in
this annual week-long effort to help prepare schools for the start of the school year. It is a demonstration
of the community's support for education.
I salute all volunteers - parents, students, organizations, local and national government officials and
personnel, the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, all branches of the Armed Forces of
the Philippines, and other stakeholders. I salute all DepEd personnel who make sure that this activity is
not only helpful to the school but rewarding and engaging for its partners as well.

Last Tuesday, I had the opportunity to launch the Brigada Eskwela week early in Quirino province. It was
a rewarding and fun day spent with education stakeholders of the province. Education stakeholders must
always carry a message of optimism and hope. They must always build and not destroy. They must
always work towards solving problems and issues and not provide mere critique. We must be a nation of
builders if we are to move forward as a nation. After all, we are must show and live out the kind of world
we want our children to grow up in.

By the time I post this, I hope that those who vandalized the DepEd central office yesterday (and are still
camping out at the gates) realize that they are not being productive citizens. There is nothing
constructive with what they are doing and especially if they bring kids to a rally and refuse to engage in
dialogue. You could have just channeled your unbridled energy to help clean up our schools in time for
school opening. That would have been much better. It's not too late.

I invite everyone to come and join the Brigada Eskwela and show to the world that as Filipinos, we value
education. More importantly, we value constructive work. Let us show that there are more of us who
choose to build the nation than the noisy ones who have nothing better to do but mislead, misdirect and
confuse people for their own interests. Let our work speak louder than their empty calls.
