Mt Slamet
Jonggrang Temple is the largest Hindu temple
Mt Slamet is the highest mountain in Central Java,
and the second highest in Java after Semeru. Mt
Slamet is type of strato mountain with an active
wide crater. The last eruption of this mountain was
in July 1988 caused flame from the crater and 300
m height of ejecting lava. Mt Slamet is located at
the border if Prubalingga, Banjarnegara,
Banyumas and Brebes.
A very big fire swallowed forest of Mt Slamet in
1995 caused the loss of flora and fauna on the
mountain, including the very rare species of
edelweiss. Edelweiss on Mt Slamet is yellowy
white and the stalks resembles long dry leaf,
different than one in Mt Gede Pangrango with its
white flower and hairy stalk
Prambanan Temple
Prambanan Temple or also known as Lara
complex in Indonesia. It is precisely located in
about 17 km northeast of Yogyakarta city, Central
Java. It was built in 9th century during the reign of
Sanjaya dynasty and dedicated to the three main
Hindu Gods or Trimurti; Brahma, Vishnu, and
Shiva. Its greatness and magnificence attracts
many visitors from around the globe every year.
Prambanan Temple was built on a four-square
plane. Each plane is separated by four walls with
four large gates on the middle as the entrance. The
whole temple complex is divided into three major
zones; the outer, middle, and inner zone. The outer
zone is an open space and the bottommost terrace
of the temple. The second area is the middle zone
where hundreds of small temples were standing.
The last area is the inner zone. It is the holiest and
highest terrace of the temple. There are three
major temples of Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma that
are standing on the inner zone, together with three
small temple of their animal vehicle.
 Borobudur Temple
Borobudur is a Buddhist temple. It was built in the
ninth century under Sailendra dynasty of ancient
Mataram kingdom. Borobudur is located in
Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia.
Borobudur is well-known all over the world. Its
construction is influenced by the Gupta
architecture of India. The temple is constructed on
a hill 46 meter high and consists of eight steps like
stone terrace. The first five terraces are square and
surrounded by walls adorned with Buddhist
sculpture in bas-relief. The upper three are
circular. Each of them is with a circle of bell
shape-stupa. The entire upper structure is crowned
by a large stupa at the center of the top circle. The
way to the summit extends through some 4.8 km
of passage and stairways.
The design of Boroudur symbolizes the
conception of universe in Buddhist cosmology. It
is believed that the universe is divided into three
spiritual spheres, kamadhatu, rupadhatu, and
arupadhatu. The first sphere, kamadhatu,
represents respectively the sphere of desires where
we are bound to our desires; the second sphere,
rupadhatu, represents forms where we abandon
our desires but are still bound to name and form;
and the last sphere, arupadhatu, represents
formlessness where there is no longer either name
or form. Borobudur temple which is rededicated
as an Indonesian monument in 1983 is a valuable
treasure for Indonesian people. With its
magnificent size and architecture, no wonder that
Borobudur Temple includes 7 wonders of the
world.
Raja Ampat
Raja Ampat is located in West Papua province.
This tourist spot is one of many “must-visit”
tourist attractions in Indonesia. Travellers who

The origin of the name Raja Ampat is believed to

underwater biodiversity of Raja Ampat is massive
with around 540 types of corals, 700 types of
molluscs, and more than 1.000 types of coral fish.
Moreover, The Nature Conservancy and
Conservation International reported that around
75% of world’s species live in Raja Ampat. This
report solidifies that Raja Ampat is the archipelago
with the most diverse coral reef and underwater
biota.
