CHAPTER 1:

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Internet access is the process of connecting to the internet using personal computers, laptops or
mobile devices by users or enterprises. Internet access is subject to data signalling rates and users could
be connected at different internet speeds. Internet access enables individuals or organizations to avail
internet services/web-based services.

There are many reasons your Internet connection might appear slow. It could be a problem with
your modem or router, Wi-Fi signal, signal strength on your cable line, devices on your network
saturating your bandwidth, or even a slow DNS server. These troubleshooting steps will help you pin
down the cause.

There are many contributing factors to connectivity and computer performance

when using the Internet: it is not just about the type of your internet service provider, or
the features of your computer – different issues can present various combinations of
issues, causing trouble with your internet connection. Most commonly, internet
connection speed is affected by types of Internet access, issues within your computer,
or by external factors.

1. Connection speed is affected by types of Internet Access

This one is obvious. Your connection speed first and foremost depends on the
type of Internet connection you have. There are several most common ways to
connect to the Internet. So, what makes them different from one another and which
one will serve you best? Here are most common types of internet access:

2. Connection speed is affected by issues your computer may have

The health of your computer can affect your Internet connection. Spyware and
viruses can definitely cause problems, but your Internet connection speed can also be
affected by add-on programs, the amount of memory the computer has, hard disk
space and health status, as well as the programs that are being used.

3. External factors that affect connection speeds

There are some events and conditions affecting your internet connection speed
that are outside your control, such as traffic jam on busy websites or a computer virus.
Such issues can slow a chunk of the web, not just your connection.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Technology is indeed growing rapidly. Everything can be done through

these new things using the internet. And due to this, people urge to adapt on

this fast internet connections. That’s why different theories regarding this

invention were constructed. And this is why we constructed this kind of research.

access the websites.

WEBSITE – a type of site where it uses the internet and it has contents that you are mostly

used.
CHAPTER 2

METHODS

RESEARCH DESIGN

The study used the descriptive quantitative research since the targets of
the researchers are the responses of their respondents on using slow internet
connection. The study has presented numeric values on the data gathered
which are further explained thru narrative description.

The study uses the descriptive quantitative method of research and is

fact-finding study with adequate and accurate interpretation of the findings. It
describes what it is. Quantitative method of research is also used in the study,
such as the frequency, weighted mean, and standard deviation.

SAMPLING PROCEDURE

The subject of the study was came from the selected Grade 11 and 12 ICT
students of Binan City Senior High school – San Antonio Campus. The simple
random sampling technique was utilized in this study in order to get the
experimental variables which are the random respondents.

The researchers made a list of names from the total population and uses
the Slovin’s formula with a 5% margin of error to compute the total number of
respondents.
SUBJECTS

The sample was made up of randomly Grade 11 and 12 ICT students from
different sections, that responses on using slow internet connection. In the Grade
11 – ICT 3 were chosen to ask 14 random students and in the Grade 12 – ICT 1
were chosen to ask 30 random students, and in the last section we ask in Grade
12 – ICT 2, were chosen to ask random 40 students. Thus, a total of 84
respondents participated in the study. The samples were chosen through the
simple random sampling technique, wherein the researchers randomly picked
or chose 84 students from a set of different sections and made them as the
respondents or variable.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The instrument used in collecting data was Survey Questionnaires. The

researchers used to and build of their owned survey questionnaire entitled
“Immediate Responses of slow internet connection of selected Grade 11 – 12
ICT Students of Binan City Senior High school – San Antonio Campus” and was
approved by their research instructor, Ms. Jacine Candelaria. This was used
because it gathers data faster than any other method. They could read and
answer the questionnaire with ease.

Their questionnaire was accompanied by a cover letter. A cover letter

details the purpose of the questionnaire or study, the reasons why the
respondents should answer the given questionnaire, what will be done on the
information they have given, as well as an expression of their gratitude for their
participation.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The researchers use a Survey Questionnaire for their study. The data for this
study were collected personally after the respondents had filled out or
answered the survey questionnaire. The survey was given to the respondents on
October 11, 2019. After the survey has completed or filled out by the
respondents, it was tallied or counted one by one according to each response
on every questions. The summation, frequencies and the percentage of each
item were identified.

After the counting method of researchers, analytical distinction is as

follows. The results were analyzed through tabulation and presentation of graphs
including the interpretations. The relevance of the phases done was important in
formulating the results and conclusions of the study.

DATA ANALYSIS

The following statistical tools used by the researchers to interpret the data
gathered.

Frequency

It is determined by means of adding the gathered data of the frequency

of usage of the respondents.
Weighted Mean

In this study, mean is used to describe the response in a component

and the average response in an indicator. It is the average or the sum of a

collection of numbers divided by the number of numbers in the collection.

The level of frequency of the reasons and usage was determined using

the following scales.

Scale Ratings

1 – 1.50 Not at All

1.51 – 2.50 Seldom

2.51 - 3.50 Fairly Often

3.51 – 4.50 Often

4.51 – 5.00 Very Often

Standard Deviation

The researcher also used SD to determine the effect of the strategy used

and the relation of variables.

The standard deviation shows how much variation or dispersion from the

average exists. A low standard deviation indicates that the data points tend to

be very close to the mean (also called expected value); a high standard

deviation indicates that the data points are spread out over a large range of

values.
CHAPTER III

RESULTS

This chapter is primarily concerned with the presentation, analysis and

interpretation of data gathered.

The analysis and interpretation of data are presented in accordance with

the problem stated in Chapter 1.
