Comparison of Finite Element Analysis Software's in Geotechnical Engineering
A large number of finite element analysis (FEA) software's are presently used in the field of
geotechnical engineering. Consider the FEA program system ANSYS and two other FEA
software packages, compare them to each other and explain in detail the essential
differences regarding the following features:
Analysis type (static, transient)
Element types for line, surface, and solid body geometries
Soil constitutive models
Contact technology
Solver technology
Coupled analysis of saturated soils
User programmable features
The project report should not exceed 7 pages and must be submitted as hard copy and a
digital file.
