Architecture
- The new design should not disturb the rough natural setting of the location.
- Visitors feel the natural vibe of the location is what makes it a distinguishing setting.
(So heavy ‘industry’ setting should be avoided)
- Structure should not disturb the view on the stage from any angle.
- It’s important the design needs a minimal of artificial light. Since most of the shows are set in the
evening during the summer so there is an abundance of day light. This day light setting should not be
disturbed.
The design should enrich the context of the theater and maintain the natural vibe.
(applying materials like timber for example)
- It’s important the structure can be set up within a reasonable amount of time by a team of non-
professional workers.
- From a CT perspective it’s important that the building materials have small dimensions so the location
is accessible.
Structural design
- Since the location consists of marl mainly which can take little to no tensile force, the structure should
not rely on this sediment. A second aspect is that the marl is reducing in size every year.
SUMMARY
We’re looking for a semi-permanent structure that will enrich the natural vibe of the location. Day light is
an important aspect, artificial light should be reduced to a minimum or none at all.
The permanent anchor points that will be placed should have a long durability and function as the
foundation for the semi-permanent structure. Furthermore the structure should be simple enough and
have small dimensions so a team of non-professional workers can set it up in a reasonable amount of
time. Structurally the structure should not rely on the marl and should avoid it due to erosion.
KEYWORDS: Natural, lightweight, small dimensions, easy to set up, durability, incorporation of daylight
and vandal proof during the season.
