Talon Village Annex defeated Las Piñas Science High School (LPSci).
TVA Tigers seemed to be more prepared than LPsci Lions.
Their final score was 21-14. This was during the Cluster Meet at the Golden Acres Basketball Court on July 21. TVA’s game clicked early on in the first quarter, disrupting passing lines and converting on their run-and-gun game as they led 8-2 over an unenergetic LPSci team. The ‘Science’ boys cut the lead to just 2 points in the second canto after Nhico Pakingan scored on a stab, 10-8, but the annexed high school continued preventing their entry passes inside. TVA led by a 4-point advantage after the first half, 12-8. Pakingan: “I tried to fight back their stamina. I know the other girls did the same, but admittedly, we really have to focus on that.” LPSci woke up in the third quarter as Pakingan headlined a 2-0 run to make it a 12-10 game, as the TVA squad pressed for time. The Talon-based players converted a series of two-pointers at the baselines to pull away with a comfortable 18-10 lead at the end of the third frame. TVA’s lead continued to bubble up in the last quarter with the LPSci dribblers having trouble in bringing the ball past the half court. TVA drained two quick triples to up a double-digit lead, 24-11. From there, the teams just had to gobble up the remaining time and the score was glued to that figure. “The point of the game is for us to gain experience, but we were lucky because we won the game,” said TVA team coach Alvin De Quiros. “It’s our first time form a team so we really need a lot of work to do,” LPSci team coach Joel Ferrer said. “Maybe, we could start by correcting the errors the girls made during the game. And then we could move forward after that,” Ferrer added.
