Overview
Phase in of equipment at any functional location in the operation area is an important event. Whenever,
any new asset is introduced in plant area then its individual data, maintenance tasks performed and
periodical evaluation must be recorded. Therefore, equipment is created with its measuring points, bills of
material, class, task lists, maintenance plans and finally installed at a relevant functional location.
This process is applicable to 2100 plant.

Business Process
In the business process of phase in of equipment, whenever a new asset is installed / introduced in plant
area, then its individual data, maintenance tasks performed and periodical evaluation must be recorded.
Therefore, equipment is created with its measuring points, material with serial number, bills of material,
class, task lists, maintenance plans and finally installed at a relevant functional location. For example: a
new machine can be erected and commissioned, to increase the efficiency and production of a particular
section in plant area. Once information will be flow from Plant engineering department to F&A department
about commissioning of equipment in plant area (Out of SAP), F&A team will create asset master;
simultaneously equipment master will be generated in the system. Following are structured activities
which must be performed in SAP:

1. Equipment synchronization with asset master data - Equipment master is synchronized with asset
master means when Finance & Accounting team will create asset master, equipment number will get
generated in system with predefined key data element in asset master. It includes the equipment
category, description of equipment, asset number, planning plant, cost center.
2. Bill of Material for spares – Bill of material for spares comprises a complete, formally structured list of
components making up a technical object. It includes the item category, material code, stock item etc.
(Refer Process EAM011). Once Equipment Number gets generated in system, Plan Maintenance Person
will maintain the Equipment Bill of Material (Mandatory). Then plant maintenance team will give the
other key data element in equipment master, which includes Material with serial no, if required,
external number, planner group, maintenance work center & catalog profile.

3. Installation - Install the equipment to the respective functional location, if required.


4. Classification information - All the relevant characteristics must be created and assigned to their
respective classes. These classes should by assign to the equipment.
5. Measuring points - It is the physical or logical location where a particular condition must be described.
It includes measuring position, description, measuring point valuation code, counter, unit of
measurement etc.
6. Task List - Maintenance task lists describe a sequence of individual maintenance activities which must
be performed repeatedly. Task lists are used to standardize these recurring work sequences and to
plan them more effectively. It includes equipment number, description, planning plant, planner group,
task list usage, maintenance strategy, operations, manpower, material etc.
7. Maintenance Plan- Description of the maintenance and inspection tasks to be performed at
maintenance objects. The maintenance plans describe the dates and scope of the tasks. It includes
maintenance plan description, maintenance cycle, maintenance item, task list, scheduling parameters
etc.
