1 INTRODUCTION:
“QUALITY OF SPACES IN HIGH RISE BUILDING”
Local neighborhood parks are developed and used for numerous purposes, for example recreation,
leisurely activities, social and cultural interaction ground, biodiversity as well as habitat protection.
The fundamental of open space management suggest that a thoughtfully implemented urban
development Should include more than just great buildings.
1.1.1 TOD
TOD (Transit orientation development) Transit-oriented development (TOD) is commonly defined as
high-density, mixed-use development within walking distance (a 1/2 mile) of a transit station. TOD
provides a range of benefits including increased transit ridership, reduced regional congestion and
pollution, and healthier, more walk able neighborhoods.
It should include PARKS AND OPEN SPACES BECAUSE BOTH BUILDINGS AND
OPEN SPACES benefit from each other through the quality of each space.
it provides benefits from the economical, social, communal, environmental and aesthetical aspects.
The focus of this paper is to identify measures to assess quality value of parks with regard to the use of local or
NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS AS URBAN RESIDENTS GATEWAYS TO THEIR DAILY OUTDOOR
RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE VENUES.
NOTE : As emphasized by MR. McRobie (2000) and Christiansen, Conner, and McCrudden, SUPER
group (2001), parks are primarily designed for recreation and can give enormous benefits to the neighborhood
and community
by improving health, social well-being and enhancing enjoyment of the local environment.
2. AIM

high rise buildings.
OBJECTIVE
The interaction spaces in the existing high-rise buildings will be studied
The necessity of socializing spaces will be explored
The advantages of amalgamation of land as in TOD will be exposed specifically
concentrating on the interaction spaces in High rise buildings
Redesigning of existing sites with smaller plot areas into development entity emphasis
on the interaction areas will be explored.
LIMITATIONS
The study is limited to studying 2 or 3 examples of high-rise buildings
Consideration is not given to the social /economical condition or the cultural
background of the user groups
The study will not focus on the structural aspects of high rise buildings.
METHODOOLOGY
Understanding of TOD as concept and amalgamation as a concept.
Study of projects (at least 4) wherein amalgamation as a concept is used /
implemented and its efficacy at Urban Design level
Study of the same set of projects wherein amalgamation as a concept is
used / implemented and its efficacy at Architectural Design level
Detailed study (at least 4) of isolated multi-storied residential blocks in
Hyderabad; study of the context (physical, socio-cultural and socio-
political) and development control bye-laws existent.
Argument in favor of any redevelopment in future using amalgamation
concept.
Demonstrative design with highlights on the advantages of
implementation of amalgamation as concept in any future redevelopment.
