QUESTION 6 Horizontal vs Vertical Retirement Development:

Which one is most desirable for the future?
Thursday May 28
14:20 - 15:00
Whereas the ‘Silent Generation’ were happy to retire to the countryside or
the coast, the ‘Baby Boomers’, now about to enjoy their retirement years,
have quite different ideas on how and where they intend to spend their ‘free
time’. Many may continue to pursue a profession, albeit part-time and those
with the disposable income will certainly be spending more time travelling.
All are likely to be much fitter and more active than their parents’ generation.
‘Lock up and Go’ space will replace ‘Sheltered Community Living’ retirement
options for the new generation of ‘Un-retirees’, who will value urban
solutions close to lifestyle amenities over country retreats.

What makes for better investments?
