Class Task # 3 Preparation – Global Culture around Food
Country: FRANCE
Prepare information and Key phrases (using the studied grammar) to ONE of the following questions, as agreed with
your group.
Contents of the Video:
- EATING CULTURE:
1. General facts about food and eating in that country.
2. Funny, interesting, surprising or strange eating habits of that country.
- REPRESENTATIVE DISH (ES) (the group chooses 1 or 2 dishes)
3. General information about the dish’s preparation.
4. Manner, etiquette and recommendations for eating that dish.

INFORMATION:
A. Look for relevant and detailed information about your point:
Manner, etiquette and recommendations for eating that dish
Asparagus, although they are taken with the hands, it is increasingly common to take them with the fork. If they are fibrous, you have
to chop them with the help of the knife.

The artichokes are taken with the hands, leaf by leaf until reaching the heart that is taken with the fork.

"The knife is never brought to the mouth. Nor does it lick or suck."

The peas are "loaded" with the fork, but they are not punctured. We can help each other with the knife to push, but we never brought
the knife to our mouths.

Raw carrots and "hard" vegetables may need the knife to be sliced.

The rest of vegetables, vegetables and salads, usually take almost all with the fork -depends on the type of preparation they have.

-If you want to be accepted at a more formal status please eat your broccolis leaf by leaf but the heart you need to stab it.
-Everything must be eaten with the fork.
-To eat asparagus in a correct manner you need to chop them with the knife.
- A correct way to catch someone that doesn’t know how to eat formaly is focusing on how that person try to use the knife at every
moment.
