A Valentines Day message

Prelude the Story of Valentines.

Divine Romance is the Ultimate Purpose of God

Gen. 2:19,21-23
Man was created from the dust, woman was created from his rib, a nation was created from her womb
and a messiah was created from the holy nation and the church was created from his body. Out of the
side of Jesus was created his own bride.
Was God lonely or bored? NO! God is love and out of love comes creativity, relationship, unity.

Love is the reason for life. We were created out of Love to love and be loved.
We must understand kinds of love in this world.
1. Eros is a sensual love, a selfish, self-centered, seeking love that competes and manipulates to
grasp for that which satisfies and gratifies.
2. Phileo is frienship and requires equal acceptance in return to live.
3. Agape love is a totally selfless love, divine in origin that is not controlled or influenced by the
reaction of those to whom it is sent. It is freely given.
This is the kind of love that compelled Jesus to heal his own enemy in the Garden when Peter
retaliated.
It is the kind of love that caused Jesus to taste death and not take the other cup.
This is the kind of love that said “forgive them for they know not what they do”
He could have surpassed the military force of the Romans and made us his chained slaves to his throne.
But this method would not make us hate sin or desire His righteousness, nor love our neighbor.
Physical force is inadequate in the realm of the spirit. By winning a war you lose a friend.

The Only Ultimate Love Story

Rmns 5:6-8, He restores us from ourselves.
Hosea illustrates
Marries a prostitute, has 2 children, Divorces wife for adultery then buys her back and Vows his eternal
love for her.
Hosea 1:2 We reject God in our human natural state because we have not experienced his love.
v. 6 “not loved” and “Not my people” 2:1 He divorces Adulterous wife.
2:14 He wins us back by forgiving us and transforming us. 16., 19 He reveals his purpose to make
us his bride. It is his will that prevails not ours. His Love Never Fails! 3:1, 11:8

As his Bride we share his power and glory: Jn 17:22-23 Eph 5:27 Rev. 19:9
