Pre-AP Biology & Environmental Science BIOGEOCHEMICAL NEWSPAPER PROJECT

Objective: Demonstrate understanding of major Example:

biogeochemical cycles through the creation of a
newspaper or mini-infographics explaining each
cycle.

Work in groups of 3. These will be randomly

selected.

Requirements:
• 3 pages, one each for Nitrogen, Phosphorus &
Carbon cycles
• Articles for each cycle that address the
following:
o Main biotic and abiotic reservoirs and
factors for each nutrient
o Chemical Reactions that help transfer
nutrient between reservoirs
o Description of how the chemical transfers
between reservoirs
o Definition of important vocabulary terms
in each cycle
o Importance of the chemical in natural
systems
o Anthropogenic effect on the cycle
o At least one figure/image that supports
an understanding of each cycle
o One “advertisement” for a product that is
involved in the cycle
