To whom it may concern:

I am pleased to recommend Ms. Gillian Fernandez to you for employment as a new graduate registered
nurse. I am one of Ms. Fernandez’ faculty and clinical instructors while she has been enrolled in the
Baccalaureate Nursing Program at the University of Arizona. To date, after completing several different
clinical rotations, Ms. Fernandez has been able to deliver excellent care for her patients, She is a very
conscientious and diligent student. Both her academic and clinical performance have been excellent.
She is able to clearly integrate theory into practice. Ms. Fernandez’s previous clinical and community
experience has enhanced her ability to perform responsibly and professionally when delivering patient
care. She has taken initiative to participate in volunteer activities, which has added to her overall
character.

Ms. Fernandez is a dedicated and hard-working student. Her strengths are many, but include the ability
to provide compassionate care to all patients and families. She does not have any fears of providing
“hands on” care for patients. She recently completed her “preceptorship” in the trauma ICU and was
able to care for patients and their families almost independently. She learned the intricacies of providing
care for high acuity patients with very complicated psychological and physiological problems. More
importantly, she has learned the role of advocating on behalf of patients and their families. She eagerly
accepts challenging situations and works diligently to have a positive outcome or one that is mutually
agreed upon. She also has excellent written and verbal communication skills, which will add to her
ability to be timely and accurate on the job.

I support Ms. Fernandez’ application for employment as a nurse in her area of interest, as I believe she
will make significant contributions to the nursing profession. She is a bright, knowledgeable student who
is willing to work hard to meet her goals. She has proven to be very mature, a team player and
supportive of others. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions regarding her
qualifications.

Sincerely,

Linda Perez, RNC
