1. SCRUBBER PROCESS DESCRIPTION

Bio Gas scrubber consists of basically two sections the Stage-1 (Washing unit),
stage-2 (scrubbing unit). From the Gas holder the Bio gas Enters in the Venturi
Washing tower. The Inlet Biogas washed in the Venturi through the Recirculation line
from washing tank circulates in the circulation tanks and accessories for pumping
and controlling the process. The pump system attached to the re-circulation tank
delivers high-pressure jet to washing tower [venturi] and packed tower. From the
venturi tanks through the BG line Bio Gas Enters the Scrubbing tank and Moves
from the bottom to the top in Scrubbing Column. The Gas is once again washed in
the scrubbing column from the line of NaOH Solution recirculation tank accessories
with pumping system. For washing & scrubbing each has two pumps one is working
and other is standby. The pumps provide high pressure jet via, spray nozzles
provided on venturi& column beds. A pressure gauge is provided in the pump outlet
piping to ensure that the proper pressure is developed by the pump.

A single Raw Water Inlet line distributes the Raw Water to the equivalent Washing
tank (venturi section), scrubbing tank (tower section). Low level Switch provided in
re-circulation tank protects the circulation pump from dry running. High level switch
provided in re-circulation tank operates the makeup sol. Valves, high signal ensure
the raw water make up stopped.

The dosing system attached to the scrubbing system maintains the set pH value of
scrubbing media. It consists of one caustic tank for preparing the NaOH solution,
connected with one dosing pump. For the preparation of the NaOH solution one
stirrer is provided in each caustic tank.If the pH value of solution is not as per the
specifications then the same will be detected by the pH Sensor. In case high level in
tank (Auto/Manual) Bleed Provided in Water recirculation Tank, the raw water tank
connected to the circulation tank maintains the solution level and dosing system
maintain the pH level of the solution.

The necessary valves and fittings are provided for the smooth running of the system.

2. SCRUBBER CONTROL PHILOSOPHY

General

The Scrubber system consists of 2 sections mainly Stage-1recirculation

section&Stage-2 recirculation section. The Scrubber Signals are connected to the
PLC system for monitoring as well as control of the system via PLC.

1. The Scrubber system is provided with control loops such as level control &
pressure control for the recirculationpumps;level control to control the raw water
inlet in the stage-1 recirculation tank& stage-2tank, Ph control for operating bleed
solenoid valves & dosing pumps.

2. The scrubber system consists of Stage-1 recirculation pumps, and stage-2

recirculation pumps with one operating and one on standby.

3. Initially the system should be taken on manual and fill the water recirculation tank
and the scrubber liquor tank with water to a level of 50% through manual valves.
Once the level reaches 50% the system should be taken into auto mode.

4. Level Switches are provided on the stage-1 recirculation tank and stage-2
recirculation to monitor the water level low in the tanks to trip the recirculation
pumps. Also the same switches provide high level signal of both the tanks shut
down the make up solenoid valves.

5. Bleed Solenoid valve provided on the stage-1 recirculation pump outlet, to drain
off the highly acidic water when required.

6. Pressure Switches are provided to trip the recirculation pumps, if the pressure
goes lower than the set pressure.

7. PH Transmitter provided on Stage-1 recirculation pump outlet, monitor the acidic

concentration in re-circulating water, PH Transmitter connected to the PH
indicator on main panel provides acidic concentration high (PHlow) signal operate
the bleed sol. Valve for drain out the part of acidic water. This operation of acidic
water bleeding continues up to getting the acidic concentration low
(PHhigh)signal; afterthe pH low signaldisappears it stop the bleed sol valve.

8. PH Transmitter provided on stage-2 recirculation pump outlet, monitor the

NaOHSolution concentration in re-circulating liquid in tower pumps,It connected
to the PHindicator on main panel provides PH low & high signal to the controlling
PLC, when the pH low signal gets active it activates the dosing pump for more
NAOH solution to the tank section for Caustic solution, the dosing pump operation
continues up to getting the pH high signal.

9. One dosing tank with motorized stirrer is provided to make alkalinesolution.

10. Raw water line with automatic On /Off Sol. valve Provided on both stage tanks for
filling the raw water when the level switch high level is not healthy.

NAOH consumption is @ 2.2 kgfor Reducing 5000 ppm H2S to less than 200
ppm
