Reliability related issues of LHB variant RMPU were discussed during 23rd & 24th MSG meeting.
A committee comprising Director/RDSO, Dy.CEE/D/RCF & Sr. DEE/Coaching/New Delhi was
constituted by Railway Board to study various reliability related issues of electrical equipments of LHB
coaches. Report prepared by the committee was discussed during 24th MSG meeting and the
recommendations have been accepted by Railway Board.
Earlier, specification for microprocessor controller for LHB RMPU was a part of specification no.
RDSO/PE/SPEC/0061-2005. Now, this has been separated and the existing specification for controller
of double decker coach RMPU has been revised to make it suitable for both LHB coaches RMPU &
double decker coaches RMPU(a common specification).
Draft revised specification was earlier circulated to all the Railways vide letter No. EL/7.2.2 dtd.
24.3.2011 & 9.5.2011 and it was also circulated to all the controller manufacturers. Draft specification
was also uploaded on RDSO's website. Now, the specification has been finalized after incorporating
suggestions of various Railways and manufacturers. The revised specification incorporates the
following major items:
All the approved sources have been asked to comply to this specification within six
months from the date of issue of this letter. It is expected that prices may reduce due to
interchangeability of controller as per this specification.

It is advised to submit compliance to this specification within six months from the date of
issue of this letter. Non compliance of the specification within the stipulated period may lead to
down gradation/delisting as per RDSO's procedure.
