1. COURSE CODE : Practicum 101 Course Description:

2. COURSE TITLE : On-the Job Training The course was intended to develop an understanding and exposure into
the Psychology and Sociology of Crimes, Crime Detection and Investigation and
3. PRE-REQUISITE : None Criminalistics, actual operation of a police station/department, jail or penal
institution, Fire Departments and Security Agencies, and such other agencies
4. CREDIT : 3 units comprising the five (5) pillars of the Criminal Justice System and the relationship
between them as a supplement and in conjunction with the academic program;
5. TIME ALLOTMENT : 54 hrs. (3 hrs/week/18 weeks) off-campus or practicum program in selected police agencies; actual field work,

observation and practice of police tasks, activities or operations, including patrol,
traffic, crime investigation, criminalistics, performed internships requiring
observations in penal institutions, jails, reformatories in NAPOLCOM and such
other agencies related to the course/program.

The course also aimed at providing students with opportunity to


understand the economic, social and cultural reality of the community. It is
centered on the students getting in touch with themselves as they interact and
relate with individuals, groups and families in selected nearby community. The
course is divided into three phases namely: pre-immersion phase, immersion
phase and post immersion phase.

At the end of the semester, the students can:

1. Acquaint the basic police and investigative work.


2. Understand the real and factual situations obtaining in the community problems through community immersion.
3. Enhance the personality, confidence, mediation/negotiation, public relations/communication and critical thinking skills of the Criminology Interns.
4. Inculcate the value of respect for the law and service to the community.
5. Provide opportunities for the Interns to integrate and synthesize the various theories in criminology.

Classroom Policies

- Students are required to wear their complete school/intern uniform during class hours.
- Cellular phones and other electronic gadgets should be turned to silent mode or switched off during class hours.
- Three (3) consecutive or cumulative absences shall be considered as DROP.
- Late within 5 minutes during the start of the class shall be considered as absent.
