performs conventional aspects of geotechnical engineering
and analysis
Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent
evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering
techniques, procedures, and criteria
Provides guidance to designers/drafters and less experienced
junior engineers
Proven track record in soil classification system, laboratory
testing and drafting borehole logs using gINT.
Conduct various tasks from proposal level, to site
investigation, in situ and laboratory testing, site supervision
and reporting
Responsible for all aspects laboratory testing of soil and rock
samples
Work within a team on investigations for geotechnical
assessments
Comply with SPLC health and safety plans. Demonstrating a
safety-first focus and acting as a role model to others
Ensuring quality control/quality assurance of both laboratory
and field work, field data analysis and calculations
Provide technical services in a laboratory environment
Well versed with a variety of soil mechanics analyses and
design including foundation engineering design and
competently perform conventional aspects of design
engineering and analysis and construction supervision
Must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact with both
internal and external clients

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

Civil Engineering university graduate with degree in

geotechnical, geological or civil (geotechnical) engineering,
preferably with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering
Minimum 2 years of geotechnical engineering experience
preferably within the field and laboratory environment
Advanced knowledge of geotechnical engineering, including
Site investigation, laboratory testing and instrumentation
Previous relevant experience in Canada
Must own a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and
hold a Valid (G-Level) Ontario Driver’s License
Must be mobile and willing to work on a combination of
laboratory, field and office work.
Excellent computer skills, proficiency with common industry
laboratory software is required
Flexible, well organized, interested in technical and personal
advancement, able to carry out assignments with minimal
supervision
