PROCESSES
Question And Answer

1. Why do chemical engineers need to separate mixtures of liquids?

Answer : Because the materials must be separated so as to recover the wanted one in
as pure a state as possible.
2. What is the principle on which distilation is based?
Answer : It based on the principle that if a mixture of liquid heated, some of the
ingredients will evaporate faster than the others and this property can be
used to effect a separation.
3. What is binary distillation?
Answer : Binary distillation is separation of two liquids.
4. Give an example binary distilation!
Answer : Ethanol and water from azeotropes at a composition of 95,6 %-mass
ethanol at standart contion.
5. How did we know that liquids are easy to separate each other by distillation?
Answer : We know that two liquids are separate by distillation if pure materials have
boiling points that differ by considerable amount.
6. What do you know about filtration?
Answer : Filtration is the cleaning of the solid particles.
7. What is the modern techniques of separation?
Answer : Separation of liquids whose boiling points are close together.
8. How many types of mixture of materials that chemical engineer need two know
before doing separation?
Answer : There is two type of mixture that chemical engineer need to know to
separate mixture of materials
9. Mention the types of mixture that you know!
Answer : (a) Mixture that occur naturally
(b) Mixture that occur as a result of chemical reaction

our spit.

define not just the event, but my emotional connection to it.
8. So we can make mixtures of all this kind of thing because we know that, in cooking,
we can transform it to the form.
9. Distillation is the process of separating the components or substances from a liquid
mixture by using selective boiling and condensation
10. Condensation happens one of two ways: Either the air is cooled to its dew point or it
becomes so saturated with water vapor that it cannot hold any more water.
11. Evaporation is the process of a substance in a liquid state changing to a gaseous state
due to an increase in temperature and/or pressure.

20. And the bee has been cleverly fooled into taking the nectar, and also picking up some
powder on its leg, and going off to the next blossom.
21. It is insisted by the adherents of sterilization that filtration of this sort is likely to
leave harmful bacteria in the water.

23. Distillation is the process of separating the components or substances from a liquid
mixture by using selective boiling and condensation

EUCALYPTUS OIL

Eucalyptus oil is a forestry product that is well known by the public. Essential oils
from distillation or distillation of eucalyptus leaves. The leaves of the eucalyptus tree are a
popular health remedy all over the world. These leaves have antibacterial and anti-fungal
properties. The main component in eucalyptus oil is cineol which reaches 65%. With these
components, eucalyptus oil can be directly used as medicine and perfume. The manufacturing
process is:

1. Eucalyptus leaves are picked first from the tree and then do a simple distillation

2. After that eucalyptus oil leaves are put on a rack in the boiler where the boiling and at the
bottom of the kettle filled with water that is burned using a furnace, the kettle is tightly
closed so that the steam does not come out. Next to the kettle is a water reservoir which is
one of the distillation stages

3. Steam from boiled leaves is cooled to become white water oil that comes out of the
distillation pipe by itself. Distillation lasts approximately 20 minutes.

4. After the eucalyptus oil comes out packaging, but before packaging. Eucalyptus oil is
filtered first with cotton, then just put in a bottle and closed tightly. In addition to
producing eucalyptus oil, stems and leaves that have been cooked are dried again which
can then be used for burning the eucalyptus oil. Then eucalyptus oil is ready to wear
