Happy Place To Visit 5*

Smiles and welcomes from all of the team. Friendliness abounds. They operate like a well oiled
machine! Halls smell good, rooms are immaculate, and food is tasty. The resort is always full of good

Granddaughters birthday 5*
I was a little hesitant about an indoor water park. However this place is fascinating. A ton of fun things to
do for all ages. Lots of room and the place was clean and comforting. The rooms on ground level are Commented [S2]: Curățenia, divertisment
perfect. I couldn’t explain how relaxing but fun this place was for us. Five children and three adults

Great experience! 5*
This is our second trip to Kalahari Resorts. The waterpark is awesome. Everything is well maintained
and the lifeguards are trained and enforce the rules. The water temperatures were perfect. The resort
itself has everything; several restaurants with all prices in mind, a spa, an arcade, a coffee shop, a
sweet shop and plenty of gift shops. You don't have to leave the building if you don't want to. The rooms
were clean and the hallways were quiet at night. I loved having a fridge and microwave. The only Commented [S3]: Divertisment, calitatea serviciilor,
downside were the sheets which felt like paper, but oh well. The experience was one we'll look back on curățenia
as a fun trip and we already can't wait to go back.

Need to step up with room maintenance 2*


The headboards slap against the walls every time you move on the bed. The was also true of the
headboards in our neighbour's rooms too, who had their kids jumping on the beds until midnight. We
didn't get a very good nights sleep.

Room cleanliness was not very good. The carpets were not vacuumed, and our sink drain was filled with Commented [S4]: Curățenia
stuff from previous guests resulting in overflows. Black mould was all over the shower stall.

This is my last visit to this property.

Great time 5*
This was our first visit here,I was hesitant to go because of the bad reviews but we had a great
time.there was lots to do, the park was clean and we had no issues with our room .the buffet dinning Commented [S5]: Curățenia, alimentația
was good but the dinner one isnt always open .my only complaint is that we had a really long walk from
our room to the waterpark

Convention at Kalahari 5*
The staff are all friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and spacious as are the rooms. We had a Lodge and
a Hut combinations for our family. Extremely spacious rooms including a full kitchen, two full bathrooms

Not the best experience 2*
We visited with our two month old daughter as a little family getaway before I returned to work from my
maternity leave. Check in was truly terrible as many others have stated. Line an hour long, and room
was not ready until nearly 5pm. While I checked us in, my husband was in the car in the unloading Commented [S7]: Calitatea serviciilor, alimentația,
parking area, and was repeatedly yelled at by staff asking him to move because we were not unloading. curățenia, preț
We planned on doing so, we didn’t know it was going to take an hour to check in! He had the baby in the
car, I had the keys to the car so he couldn’t move the car while waiting. Again, didn’t plan on the process
taking absolutely forever. Then, we got the keys to the room. Our room was VERY far from everything.
At least a ten minute walk from the front desk, maybe more. We got our stuff out of the car, loaded onto
a luggage cart, walked the ten minutes, and discovered the keys given to us did not work. I had to walk
BACK to the front desk which took another ten minutes and then wait in the line again (which was now
about a thirty minute wait) in order to get new keys. At this point I was quite irritated because my
husband was now having to feed and change our daughter in the hallway while waiting for me to return
with new keys and it was well past five pm, with the Waterpark closing at 9 pm. I ask to speak to a
manager. Well, the manager was so busy getting yelled at by 4738274 other people, so I waited a few
minutes and then just said I wanted my new keys and would come back. Later on we ended up getting
comped a late checkout til 2 pm which is about a fifty dollar value. That helped ease some of my
irritation, but I never even saw a manager. Just the front desk girl who went back and told them of our
plight then returned and gave me the credit for the late checkout. After that things were overall fine but
not great. The buffet was closed, as were several of the “kiddie” areas for very small children. These
were basically the only places we could have the baby in the water so that was a bit inconvenient but
she couldn’t spend more than 10 minutes in the water at a time anyway so it wasn’t too big of a deal.
The buffet being closed was a bit of a bummer. We had a decent meal in the restaurant and the service
there was good. Additionally, the service was good as well as the food in the little cafe with baked goods
and coffee. Again, the room itself was lovely. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette and a fridge as well
as a fireplace and balcony. It was clean, no issues there. Bed was comfortable. This resort definitely
needs a little help overall however, as it is pretty expensive and things do not run the best. We probably
will not return to this hotel anytime
soon which is unfortunate because we’ve been here several times before in the past before we had a
child and it was always a pleasant experience. Hopefully they can turn things around and we can try
again in a few years!

We were the for a conference and the food was ALWAYS cold.

Halls were NEVER vacuumed. Appears the hotel did not have the heat on so conference rooms were
too cold.

Must appeal the families as waterpark and electronic game machines we're overly crowded.

Family fair break getaway 4*


Have been here a few times now. I have found that it offers more to do than Great wolf lodge and you
can normally find great deals on groupon. My boys are a little older 13,17,19 and they never once Commented [S9]: Divertisment, curățenia, preț
complain or say they are bored when we come so that is always a plus. Rooms are nice and offer a
microwave and mini fridge which makes it nice because food and drinks are a little pricey here, also
there is a Wal-mart just up the road where you can get cheap drinks and snacks. Overall I would
recommend a visit here.

Lower Your Expectations with Lower Prices 3*


Both my daughter, child and husband, as well as her father and I decided to take advantage of lower fall
prices, mid week. We checked in on a Monday hours aparT. Ww Each had the same experience. We Commented [S10]: Atitudinea personalului, distanța,
waited for 30 minutes in line! only one person ahead of me, 3 clerks, ALL TRAINEES. With every move curățenia, calitatea serviciilor, alimentația, preț
they made a "Manager" was helping them hit the right keys. Seriously??? NOT ONE TRAINED
EMPLOYEE? They were all very polite, but they have to realize this is a driving destination and most ppl
have been in the car several hours and just WANT THEIR ROOM! Once it was my turn? 20 minutes!
Crazy.
2nd, Although their were a few families with older children, There were soooo many ppl with toddlers like
us. They had NO toddler area open until my daughter complained. Then they opened one, and it was so
small. The lifeguard explained that it took 3 lifeguards to watch the other area, this one only one. Why is
that an issue? They are understaffed she explained.
Also, as is a known fact, you walk MILES to the waterpark, no mater where your room is. Just a
warning.
The positives? The staff by and large are super polite and helpful. Kelly in the game room was so great
to help me with our card and walk me to some toddler appropriate games. The burger place was great,
although expensive, as most places such as this are. Again, rooms were ok, but this places biggest
asset is its ppl. Will prob try Great Wolf next time.

Beautiful Convention Center 4*


I visited with three individuals with Developmental Disabilities for a convention. The convention center Commented [S11]: Distanța, atitudinea personalului,
was very nice, however very large. The walk from our room to the center several times a day was very divertisment
long and tiring. Pushing a wheelchair on many different surfaces was not pleasant. Some surfaces were
easier than others.

All the staff were extremely friendly and went out of the way to say hello.

Was disappointed in the indoor water park. The outdoor park was closed for the season. Not many
areas for individuals with disabilities to enjoy just sitting in a pool. Would be nice if there was an basic
pool. All the pools were some sort of specialty pool.

First visit 1*
We stayed at kalahari for the first time and I was not impressed. The room upstairs kept us up for two Commented [S12]: Ambianța
nights with no sleep. It was quite tiring. I will probably never return back to kalahari because of this. It
was like teenagers up there. They peed off the balcony and threw cigarettes off the balcony

Not the best experience! 2*


We went over for a night on midweek day.( Monday to Tuesday). It wasn't any holiday or something
special, but a regular day. we felt like second grade guests! We paid a lot of money for that night. Commented [S13]: Preț, curățenia, calitatea serviciilor,
First of all the room was clean and big enough for our family. The beds were comfortable and there was divertisment, atitudinea personalului, alimentația, ambianța
one room for the kids and one for us , which was great.
There was plenty of parking space and it was not crowded at all, and here comes all the problems.
Due to the off season time, the indoor water park wasn't operating in full mode and the slides opened on
and off in some kind of rotation. No one was able to tell us which will work when, and you just needed to
guess or to check every few moments which one is working now. there are two little kids zone , but only
the small one was operative most of the day and the big operated only in the evening. More then half of
the restaurants in the water park area were closed and even to get a small coffee or an ice cream, you
needed to go all the way back to the lobby area (with four young kids it was exhausting). The water park
stuff was really nice and welcoming but couldn't do anything to help for they were also clueless about
what well open next.
The buffet restaurant was also closed and if you wanted breakfast there was only one restaurant that
served it and only by the dish.
At night it was so loud that my kids woke up again and again. Apparently there was some kind of
maintenance room inside my room (it was locked) which made dripping water all night long, you could
have heard all the other guests from all around you like they are in your room. I didn't move because my
kids were half a sleep and I didn't want to walk with them around the hotel at night.
I did address those things to the morning manager and was very upset.
So... if you want to feel the fun, come only in the summer , when every thing is awesome (maybe
Christmas as well...). If you still want to have fun on a regular day, go to Great Wolf Lodge, very time
we've been there, they were working fully!

Disappointing 2*
We were disappointed in our trip to Kalahari this month. We were not given the room we paid for, which
was supposed to have a pull out sofa. We waited in line for an hour to check in, and our rooms were
switched for unknown reasons before our check in was complete. Our room had a funky smell to it. We
would have attempted to discuss this while there, but wait times to talk to anyone were ridiculous or Commented [S14]: Calitatea serviciilor, atitudinea
unable to help. The entire Saturday we spent there, the kiddie pool was closed which was really the only peronalului, divertisment
thing our daughter could do. The website said there were no closures, but there were several
attractions/slides that were. Our 2 older boys did have fun, and the staff although unorganized, was
friendly. Our extended family as gone here several times, but this was our first and probably last.

Disappointing Experience 2*
Well, I ‘d love to give you a thumbs ups for our recent stay but unfortunately, it was disappointing.
Beginning with sending us to the wrong room which had other active guests, having us carry our cart
luggage from lobby to 8th and 9th floor back and forth in a period of 2 hours at least, assigning us Commented [S15]: Calitatea serviciilor, curățenia
another room where we couldn’t access without the housekeeping staff, being all starved after the waste
of time in the check in mess 🤔 ohh the wait of almost over an hour for the food in the water park. I’m
sorry Kalahari but your organization needs a lot of improvement. I would love to give you all the details
but since it was impossible to get things solved in the resort, I don’t know if you’re really going to do
anything to make things right.

Terrible experience with billing 1*


We have been to the water park plenty of times very upsetting my debit card was billed twice for our
room I have been on hold for 1 hour. Update the person I talked to said to call back tomorrow very Commented [S16]: Calitatea serviciilor
upsetting being I was planning on returning next month. Due to the circumstance of what has happened
I would wish a customer service representative would get ahold of me to make it right but we shall see.

NOT CLEAN !!! 2*


I was there for a conference. The staff that took care of us in the convention center were pretty good.
The staff throughout the rest of the resort left a lot to be desired. They barely even acknowledged the Commented [S17]: Curățenia, atitudinea personalului
guests that I witnessed.

The rooms and and park were not nearly as clean as I would have liked. The sheets in the room were
NEVER changed the entire time there. The sheets were dirty enough that I wondered if they had been
changed before I checked in. I am not sure that the carpets were ever swept while I was there. The
water park itself was not very clean as well... enough that I had NO DESIRE to get in the water.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT.

Fun at the Kalahari 4*


We spent the night at the Kalahari as I found a great Groupon deal. Check in was relatively fast
considering there was a large line up however there were at least 7 employees at check in. There was Commented [S18]: Divertisment, calitatea serviciilor,
Lots to do with the kids from the water park to the arcade it was awesome. The room was very dated atitudinea personalului, preț
and the washroom definitely needs to be renovated but overall it was great. The employees were
extremely helpful. Food was expensive so I would recommend driving 5 mins down the road closer to
the Sandusky Mall.

Best Place 5*
Hands down best Waterpark around. We have taken many family vacations here and we love it! Will Commented [S19]: Divertisment, atitudinea personalului
continue to come here. Lifeguards are amazing young people and work hard at safety. Can’t wait till will
plan our next trip here!

A Fun Experience, If A Bit Overpriced 4*


The restaurants and café have excellent food that is reasonably priced, save their pizzas which are a bit
much for what you can get for the same price at a place like Pizza Hut or Papa John's. If you plan on Commented [S20]: Alimentația, curățenia, atitudinea
drinking anything besides beer, prepare to shell out some money for any of their promoted drinks. Room personalului, preț
was clean and my experiences with the staff was fine, none of them were rude like I've experienced in
other places. As for others commenting on the "tidiness" of the waterpark with towels or trash
everywhere, that's more so the ignorance of guests not putting towels in one of the numerous bins
throughout the park or throwing away their trash when finished. Additionally, the arcade has a very low
payout rate for tickets so, if you want to walk away with a decent prize or two, prepare to spend at least
$100 or more.

Gone way downhill 2*


We used to come to Kalahari at least two, if not three times a year, but let me tell you it’s declined a lot
over the years, but this year was the worst. Service was horrible. Most of the staff we encountered was Commented [S21]: Calitatea serviciilor, atitudinea
rude and not helpful. The mud hut bartender, Brittany, was probably the nicest and only helpful person personalului, curățenia, preț
we encountered. The place is filthy. Dirt, mold, towels, and grime everywhere. The stairs up to slides
smelled like fishy urine and the pools and slides were covered in thick, slimy grime. The hot tub was
also filthy and the one didn’t even work properly. I appreciate the advances in technology, but you need
to get back to basics and maintain the property, be friendly, and keep it clean. Probably won’t go back,
way overpriced.

Disgusting rooms, terrible upkeep, horrible check-in and atrocious


customer service 1*
This was my second trip here with my family. We stayed for a couple of nights last year as well and had
an overall pleasant time, with serious issues (for instance, one of the restaurants overcharged us by a
$100). We decided to try it again, because the kids did truly love the water park. This trip, everything Commented [S22]: Preț, curățenia, calitatea serviciilor,
was so much worse that it was astonishing. The check-in line had over a hundred people in it. The wait atitudinea personalului, divertisment
was over an hour. They had half the desks open. The agent who helped us was very "ok". Neither
particularly helpful or friendly.
The room was disgusting. The cover was covered in something that resembled toothpaste, the blanket
under it had what appeared to be blood on it. The sink drained slowly and backed up with crap.

At the water park, there were a number of maintenance issues (rides not working, or not working
properly), cleanliness issues (dirty towels everywhere on the ground, both in the park, and in the locker
rooms).

I would have dealt with all of that and not complained too much, if the customer service itself hadn't
been such an issue. When I called to complain about the blood(!) on the blankets, they couldn't even
bother to apologize. Everything about this trip was a failure.

Awesome trip! 5*
Great and friendly staff. Everything is always very clean. We have gone to Kalahari every year because Commented [S23]: Atitudinea peronalului, curățenia,
we love the wave pool. Also renting a cabana is definitely worth it because it gives everyone a central divertisment
place to meet up at.

Hotel was beautiful and we enjoyed our time 3*


Hotel was good, staff were rude , very rude and not helpful at all , I felt like they didn’t want to be at work

Family Fun 5*
Don’t miss a single part of the Kalahari. The extras cost but they are worth the fun. We love feeding the Commented [S25]: Preț, alimentația, divertisment
animals! The slides are a blast and having Starbucks is every mommas dream. The desserts are great.
The spa doesn’t disappoint.

Declines a little more each year 2*


Kalahari used to be an awesome vacation. Over the past few years I have went they continue to
decline. This trip was the first that the room was a problem. Reserved a larger suite room with a pullout
couch for extra bed space. When went to use it we found it was held together with garbage bags. The
bed was obviously broken and could not be used. Contacted the front desk who sent a free roll away
that was half the size. They promised to replace the couch the next day. Staff that delivered the bad
kind of laughed like that’s not going to happen and said the front desk actually had notes to know it was Commented [S27]: Calitatea serviciilor, curățenia,
broken before they ever gave us the room. Of course it was not replaced during our stay. Housekeeping atitudinea personalului
was no better. They came one day and asked if we wanted the room cleaned. I replied yes so they
changed the towels and left. Other aspects like shower curtain backwards and half attached just proved
their new level of service. And don’t expect them to address the issues. No contact by a manager after
having the problems with the bed. Completed a survey with these same issues and no contact.
Nice water indoor water fun 3*
This was our second time visiting and although we had a great time, the resort is in need of some
updates as well as more staff walking around the resort. The resort seemed cleaner the first time we
went as this time I felt cleaning wasn’t a priority. The price you pay to visit the resort I just expected a Commented [S28]: Preț, curățenia, securitate
little more. The mattress seemed to need replacing and the hallways smelled of warm urine in some
areas. The biggest concern for me was safety. It appeared to be no security and no staff walking around
to observe. It is easy for a kid to be kidnapped or something harmful happening. Over all I would visit
again but I’ll make sure I’ll bring cleaning supplies and make sure I have and air fresheners.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! 1*
Me and my family went here , checked the beds just Incase and found nothing. We left went to the water Commented [S29]: Curățenia
park put all of our stuff on a table because we were cautious about bugs. That night after we came from
the water park we came back to the room to rest. I was so nervous going to sleep because I’ve heard
stories about them having bed bugs. So I finally drifted off to sleep. As I woke up I look to the side with
my left eye and SEEN A BED BUG ! I immediately got up and got everything and called the manager.
The manager comes and check and also goes to my cousins room down
The hall ... where they found TWO other ! BED BUGS !!

Chaos 3*
I will start off with the good.... our family LOVED the waterpark! The slides were all a great time for all of
us!

The not so good..... the customer service was horrible! Starting with check in = 45 minutes (this was on Commented [S30]: Atitudinea personalului, calitatea
the back side of the resort at the SANDS entrance, the front entrance was 1-2 hours). They only had two serviciilor, distanța, curățenia, divertisment
staff members checking people in and they were super slow and did not explain anything about the
resort (including the option of adding your credit card to a wrist band for convenience). We were
fortunate to have our room available early when we checked in, the room was clean and everything
looked good... until I had to go to bed. The bed was the worst! There was a HUGE dip in the middle of
the bed and the bed frame creaked with every slight movement. I barely got any sleep! The next
morning I went and talked to the concierge desk - was instructed to speak to the front desk - was told
that they would have housekeeping check it out and they would call me. Hours went by and I was never
contacted so while at the waterpark, I got on my phone and used the Chat function on the resort
website. The chat rep assured me that I would receive a call from a supervisor..... no call. Since my visit
I have sent an email to the resort and surprise... no response. They charge a premium for their rooms
and do not care about the quality of them or the service. Another issue that I had was with my son and
his height. He is exactly 48" (we made sure of this before we booked our trip so that he could utilize all
of the rides). I am all for safety steps. However, the lifeguards measured him each and every time (even
when we just went on the same ride) and he was rejected twice (this was very upsetting to my seven
year old). It was not until the very end of our second and final night that someone explained that we
could go to the help desk and get a special wrist band that showed he is 48". This would have been
great to know when checking in. It is the small tips like these that would make things so much easier for
some families! The lifeguards also need a huge lesson in how to handle "situations". For example, a
young child got stuck in a tube slide outside and it took the lifeguard staff over a half hour to get him out.
Four lifeguards were on staff at the time of this issue and not one knew how to handle it. It took a fifth
"lead" lifeguard to come up, make a phone call and then turn off the water for them to get the poor kid
out. Thank goodness this was not my child!!!! Huge resort with an amazing waterpark.... but get it
together and work out these bugs!
Declining rooms 3*
This is our 6th or 7th stay at this resort. We love the waterpark and the arcade. Those are still great. The
food is ok and I'm happy they are offering more gluten free options.
My issue is the room. Every time we stay we get the combination suite. I love that it is big enough to Commented [S31]: Alimentașia, divertisment, curățenia,

This time was no different, we got the combination suite, and for $500 a night you would expect it to be
in good condition. It absolutely was not. Number one the room did not appear very clean. These rooms
have a kitchen, and if people can't clean a kitchen for each guest then maybe you shouldn't offer it.
There was a huge splatter of something red all over the ceiling by the counter. It was disgusting and had
been there a while. I wiped all the counters down just to make sure everything was clean because I
didn't feel it was.
They utensil drawer in the kitchen was broken and falling in so you couldn't open it. So we had to go get
plastic ware from the restaurant. The fridge needed to be cleaned because I think they just throw
everything out and do not wipe it down.
The trim on around the kitchen floor was falling off. Overall, the kitchen needed lots of attention. Really it
wasn't functional because there was so much wrong with it.
The safe in one of the rooms was not working, we just gave up and put everything in the other safe in
the other room.
After a long day in the waterpark we came back to go to bed, we pulled out the mattress on the sofa
sleeper and the sheet was gross. It had a huge red stain on it, sure it was made, and appeared to have
been washed, but that giant red stain on it was disgusting. We had to go to the lobby because no one
answered the phone. We waited in line for 25 minutes before we could reach the front counter. They
sent someone to change the sheet, gave us a blanket because ours was missing, and gave us a couple
of arcade cards for having to wait.
The next day we paid for a cabana, I thought this time around we would splurge and have a place to
chill out by the pool. We get there and the TV doesn't work, and no one can understand us on the phone
because it kept cutting out. The cabana did not have a fan like all the others. They came to fix the t.v.
but after two people came they still couldn't get it working. So an hour later they bring a new t.v.
So yes they tried to resolve our issues, but I feel like I wasted a lot money for a room and cabana that
just flat out need attention.
The park is great, the arcade is ok a lot of the machines needed attention, but overall I feel like they are
too busy to take care of the place. And for goodness sake if sheets have giant red stains throw them
out. No one wants to sleep on that.
Oh and this time around all of the pillows on all of the beds were like travel size. The king bed had 5
pillows on it, and it took all of them to line the bed so they fit all the way across. It made sleeping
interesting considering your head always seemed to be inbetween pillows. If you have King and Queen
beds the pillows shouldn't be travel size. It was insane!

I would NEVER come back here due to the check-in process. Just not worth it.

7 year old stuck inside slide... 2*


Ya my 7 year old got stuck inside the big outdoor yellow and red slide on the way down, he was riding Commented [S33]: Atitudinea personalului, calitatea
alone and apparently wasnt heavy enough. He said he was terrified and was crying for help. They had serviciilor, alimentația
him out within five minutes but for a small child that's an eternity- he had to crawl back up to the top after
they turned off the water. We witnessed them having to turn off the water on that slide a half dozen
times during the day but didnt have a clue why. So after our son's experience were assuming there was
multiple people affected throughout the day. If we would have known we would of told him to stay off of
it. And the reality is the only reason he was riding those slides was they kicked him off the "kiddy slides"
because hes 2" too tall, which is a crock. We saw multiple grade 1-2's being separated from their
siblings in that area over the height issue. Seeing these kids all excited to start their vacation and having
the wind yanked from their sails by overzealous life guards is ridiculous, the sadness on their faces was
so depressing to see as was seeing our own sons. Seriously use some common sense Kalhari, and
dont try blaming the state or manufacturer for the height restrictions, as we've been coming to your
resort for a decade with our other children and never had an issue, seems common sense has been lost
at this place, management is alienating their own customers by splitting up siblings. The larger slides I
understand the safety issue but that cant be argued with these slides. Maybe they should rename the 9
kids slides outside as the " 9 toddler slides". Hell my daughter was 48" when she was 4 years old. I
Wasn't impressed about this issue at all and my son wouldnt of got stuck in that huge slide otherwise
because these are the slides he wanted to use.

Rooms need work... I called the front desk after checking in about a broken tile in our shower which was
razor sharp and a danger to little kids. I was told maintenance would come down- I waited 1 hour and no
one showed up so I left, it was never repaired and no one called to check if it was. We also had a fridge
that didnt work so we had to put a bag of ice inside to keep our sons milk cold and our air conditioner
was dripping water inside our room starting the first night. We theu some towels down to collect the
water, you wouldnt believe how dirty those carpets are, the towels looked like they were all muddy.

On a positive note the breakfast buffet is decent and the pizza was good as always and they have one
life guard whose great with the kids, dont know his name but hes tall, has blondish hair down to his
shoulders, use to be a lead life guard, guess they demoted him. Foolish because hes the only happy
person working their who genuinely appears to like his job and takes the time to make the kids enjoy
their trip. Hats off to him. You'll know him to see him, has a surfer type of personality.

Another Successful Visit 5*


We are from California. This is our 2nd stay at Kalahari Sandusky in the past few years. While there are
waterparks in California, they all have poor ratings due to cleanliness issues, and crowding. Kalahari Commented [S34]: Curățenia, calitatea serviciilor,
Resorts needs to build a California location as their management knows how to successfully manage alimentație, securitate
not only a waterpark, but a large hotel as well!

Checking in late in the evening, we encountered no line. We noticed a long line the next day just prior to
the scheduled check-in time.

We stayed in a Dunes room. The room is large, with ample room for suitcases. There was a small
refrigerator and a microwave. We had a small patio with two chairs. The room was clean and up-to-date.
One would expect signs of wear and tear given the number of people that stay at the hotel, but that isn't
the case.

We once again purchased ice cream---yum and a bargain if you split a 3 scoop dish/cone. We ate at the
neighboring deli/bakery. Their wraps are large enough for two. Their apple tarts melt in your mouth. And
the pricing, well thank you Kalahari, for not gouging!

The lines to the waterpark rides move slowly. I am not sure if this made me feel safer, as the attendants
were clearly concerned with safety, or annoyed with having to wait a long time in line when the park
wasn't crowded. The waterpark bathroom could be mopped up more often, but at least the water on the
floor wasn't dirty like some parks.

Check-in line was a mile long. Meeting rooms were freezing cold. Meals were poorly prepared. I go to

Birthday weekend spent with our whole family 5*


We rented a combination suite for the weekend for our 6 adults and 2 small children. Arrived on a Friday
and left on Sunday. We stopped at the front desk at noon on the Friday we were to check in and
received our bracelets for our doors to our room and the waterpark. We went to the waterpark first
because our suite wouldn’t be ready until 4:00. We rented an indoor cabana for both Friday and Commented [S36]: Calitatea serviciilor, ambianță,
Saturday. That was the perfect thing to do. Lots of seating for all of us, a refrigerator, large TV, towels atitudinea personalului
and a safe for our valuables. We received a text about 4:00 that our suite was available. It was very
nice. Full kitchen with large table and chairs to eat at. Hide-a-bed couch and 2 chairs and a fireplace in
the living room. 2 bedrooms, one with a king sized bed, the other with 2 queens and another table and
chairs. Two full bathrooms one had a jacuzzi tub. On Saturday we had a cabana in front of the wave
pool. We love that. Very convenient to one of the kiddie areas too. Plus, we had a sever to help us. He
was awesome, ordered our lunch and it was delivered by him to our cabana within 10 minutes! Wouldn’t
plan a trip here without having the convenience of a cabana. Our suite was very, very far from the
waterpark. Not complaining, it was fairly quiet there! Highly recommend going here, highly recommend
the cabana rental, and did I mention, the housekeeping staff were very helpful, and very friendly!!!

Jacob to our rescue 4*


Alot to do and a very family oriented place. We stayed at the resort and had a pipe break a couple floors
above ours, unfortunately our room was leaking water and we had to change rooms. Jacob the hotel Commented [S37]: Ambianță, curățenie, atitudinea
manager was so polite and considerate. Even tho it was an inconvenience jacob made transition personalului
smoothly and made it right .. in all a very nice place and a good experience for our family.

Family Fun 4*
I just have to say My family was very pleased with our visit, however we purchased the Beat the
summer clock deal and it started to rain the day we planned to visit so the Safari was closed. I was
disappointed that the front desk only offered me a game card for the arcade for my 4 passes. I thought
we would at least get a return pass for another day seeing we had to head back to our home state. My Commented [S38]: Ambianță
10 year was very sadden that we didnt experience the outdoor adventure. I feel the resort should give
us passes to experience the outdoor adventure for another day. This was the main reason I purchased
this deal. I hope management sees this review and accommodates us.

Service Was Excellent! 5*


Erdis, the housekeeper on our floor, was one of the highlights of the day! He showed genuine Commented [S39]: Atitudinea personalului, calitatea
appreciation for us being there and without hesitation, he asked if there was anything he could do for us. serviciilor
I asked for extra towels and he enthusiastically went above and beyond our expectations in giving us
what we needed, right away too! Erdis even remembered me the next day and gave me a heartfelt
thank you and farewell. It's not every hotel stay that you experience amazing service with a smile but
that's what we got here. Thank you Erdis for making our stay even more memorable!

I want to say that I really enjoyed staying at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. I really enjoyed the
environment that the Kalahari Resort has for us, the people who stay there. The rooms were very well Commented [S40]: Curățenia, alimentația, atitudinea
kept. The food was good. I liked how the staff was very professional and always working hard. I would personalului, ambianța
like to name some of your hard workers that made mine and some of my co-workers experience better.
Erdis was such a delight. He had a very positive attitude and seemed to be extra helpful without effort.
Esme or Esre.. I’m not sure about the name, was at the Condo Pool area for a pig roast our company
had and he was extremely helpful as well. The people who had attendance duty on the Zimbabwe
Zipper from 4pm to 6pm made the experience really fun!!

def declining 2*
Pull out sofa sheet was not changed huge stain on it, we were coming back from cedar point just wanted
to get the kids to sleep so thankfully there was a sheet in the closet so changed the sheet myself. The Commented [S41]: Curățenia, atitudinea personalului
fridge was not wiped out , there was split dry milk in the fridge and something that looked and smelled
the dried chicken juice. Couldn't even open the fridge from the smell, so thank god we only have water
and Gatorade so could do without refrigeration .Ants were all over the sink area as well. The night
stands in the bedroom were wiped down either again dried milk. We were a family of 5 and they had 1
shampoo, conditioner and body wash and 4 towels in the room so had to call the front desk to have
some sent up. That took literally 1 hour.. When housekeeping came he didnt bring towels he brought
blankets. I made mention I needed towels not blankets, he said he would bring them back by this time it
was like 11pm I said forget . I made mention all the nasty things int he room, he asked me if he wanted
him to change the sheet I said no I already changed it why would I need you to my kids were already
knocked out. I mentioned the fridge ants and nightstand he asked to see everything. He made a
comment like there are no ants I said of course not I killed them am I supposed to just leave the m
crawling around. Like as if I was lying.He asked where the " ____cleaned your room card was" I told him
there wasn't one. Hes like are you sure I said yes of course dont you think Id want the person to be
reprimanded if this room was there responsibility. I said theres nothing you can do now its 11pm but this
needs to be made mentioned. This is acceptable for 250 a night. Check out is supposed to be 11pm at
1015 room service knocking. Like we dont have to check out until 11 why are u knocking at 1015. My
kids love this place but its def declining in the customer service and standards dept. Makes me double
think about staying here . And wasnt looking for courtesy credit or even a simple free breakfast just an
apology if anything but nothing.

Some parts were good, some were meh, some were terrible 3*
Generally everything was fine but definitely felt like a 3 star hotel vs a resort experience. I would go to
the water parks again but never stay there again

The Room: Combination Suite


- It was a suite room with a connecting room, so really 2 rooms vs 1 suite.
- The majority of the rooms are a good hike from the lobby - be prepared to walk.
- I was worried about bed bugs from a variety of reviews but glad to say we saw none Commented [S42]: Curățenia, divertisment, alimentația
- My kids found someone elses prescription medicine in their room on day 3 (out of 4) which proved my
inkling that housekeeping wasn't cleaning our room really. They would take out the trash and leave
more washcloths (we had 12 at one point).
- After speaking with a manager about the found pills and lacking cleaning, we asked that HK does a
deep clean of our room. They came and "cleaned" the kids room (made the beds, folded the towels), but
not the suite until my husband tracked one down and asked if they could clean ours was well. No
vacuuming or washing was actually done. The manager did give us some game tokens for the arcade
for the kids finding the pills.
- We never got new towels. Generally, we reuse the towels but one had a black stain on it. So we would
throw it on the ground thinking HK would change it out as that is the universal sign for "need a new
towel". However, they would just refold/hang the towels including the stained one. We should have
asked for new towels when speaking to the manager but assumed that would have come with the
"deep clean".
- In the suite side, we had 3 shower heads in our stand up shower. Only 2 worked, but only 1 was at
head level, the other I think is for rinsing your feet (? it was waist high). Also had cracked tile, dirty grout
and was missing the knob to use the switch from the low shower head to the regular.
- Water pressure was near non-existent
- The beds are old school spring mattresses which isn't horrible but definitely added to that 3 star
feeling.

Waterparks
- Both the indoor and outdoor were clean and had plenty of towels (which are crazy small, need 3 to
wrap a petite adult)
- Luckily for us, it was pretty dead the whole visit. Longest wait for a water slide was maybe 15 minutes
due to only 2 rafts in use.
- The cabana rental was not worth it. We were worried it would be packed on the weekend so we got it
for one of our days but ultimately was a waste of money because it wasn't busy at all. The service for
the cabana was fine.

Food & drinks - surprisingly decent for a resort though as with any resort overpriced.

The Big Game Room


- the arcade was a lot of fun, my kids went a few times and got decent amount of tickets. Variation in the
games was nice. Had a lot of the same games as Dave and Busters
- the escape room was worth it as well
- the mini golf is only 9 holes, wish I knew that ahead of time
(Note they do offer henna & temporary tattoos but cholorine will wash them off. The ladies running the
booths very nicely let us know before we committed)

Magic/comedy show - my kids loved the show. we only went because we got free tickets, it wasn't
something I would pay for even after seeing the show. it would have felt like one more instance of being
nickle & dimed. the audience was only about 35 of us.

The Spa - the ladies working the spa were fantastic. Super nice and helpful. My husband and I did two
small services (halotherapy for him as he had a cold and a float tank for me). The water pressure at the
spa was even worse than the room, I could barely rinse off after the float tank and part of the shower
knob fell off.

My kids had a great time ultimately but it is not a place we would ever stay at again. On our way out, we
did see a few hotels close enough to the park that we may look at if we decide to go again.

Great place for a family vacation, except the beds 4*


We absolutely loved staying at Kalahari, Sandusky. We stayed for 3 days, 2 nights. The kids loved
everything about the water parks, indoor and outdoor. The service we had was great, in every aspect
from checkin until checkout and til we left in the evening on the last day. We only stayed on site for two Commented [S43]: Divertisment, calitatea serviciilor,
breakfast times, but no other meals except the last day because we were already at the water park. The curățenia
buffet for breakfast was really good, the children, who had only been to one other buffet in their life,
really enjoyed being able to eat basically whatever was available to them. The waterparks were clean
and seemed to be well taken care of. The tables seemed to be clean after people had eaten on them.
The only negative thing about staying at Kalahari was there beds. They were AWFUL. we didn't sleep
super well, tossing and turning both nights because of how uncomfortable they were.
Other than the beds, we had a lot of fun.
Massages x2 4*
Had a massage here. Receptions was very helpful booking over the phone. Scott was a fantastic
masseuse. My masseuse was okay, a bit rough, and unfortunately chewed gum the entire massage Commented [S44]: Atitudinea personalului, calitatea
which took away from my experience. serviciilor

Short Vacation with Family 3*


I gave this hotel a 3 out of 5 because of the following:

1. There was an outlet broken by our sink, the drying line in the shower was broken, there was an odd Commented [S45]: Calitatea serviciilor, atitudinea
noise coming from the vents. personalului, divertisment, securitate, alimentația

2. The room service never came to our room. We had to call to have them bring us toilet paper,
Kleenex, and new towels. We saw them countless times on our floor attending to the surrounding rooms
but never came to ours.

3. Our other family, who were staying in another room had issues as well. It took them over an hour to
check in! They had a broken hair dryer and were told that a NEW shipment of them was coming in the
next day and they would be guaranteed one by 830am the next day. Never happened. They had to call
and still never received one. They asked to change rooms and were told that they were completely sold
out. Soon after they saw a sign that said "Rooms available". Needless to say, the dryer did eventually
get fixed but was replaced with another used one.

We were on a ground floor right by the outdoor waterpark, it would be more convenient if they installed
door locks on the outside of the patios so we can have access to the pool AND be able to lock our back
patios. If you go out of the patio then you are unable to lock your door.

Such simple fixes and I would have given the hotel a 5/5. I honestly think it needs a good updating to all
the rooms.

Positives:

The waterpark was great! Had a great time there. I liked the safety precautions they take for children
(they all have to wear life jackets).
The arcade was a lot of fun, as well as the mini bowling.
The B-lux restaurant was great as well as the little ice cream parlor on the corner (don't go at 10pm, the
people from the pool empty there for ice cream) worth the wait though!

I would return in hopes that these simple fixes would be tended too.

Great family resort 5*


Excellent place to take young kids but also teenagers and those adults still young at heart. Something to Commented [S46]: divertisment
do for everyone. The outside entertainment area was just as fun as the inside.
Only negative was some rides were not working the entire time we were there.

Skip this...go to UNIVERSAL! 1*


This will be a long extensive post aimed primarily at the Ohio resort. It will take multiple paragraphs to Commented [S47]: atitudinea personalului, calitatea
properly explain how poor our experience has been so far (We've been on the property less than 4 serviciilor, curățenia, alimentația, preț, divertisment
hours total so far) and then give a credible account of the entire stay.
Why? Because lets be honest, there are only so many resorts like this and you are likely to still book a
stay after reading my review. Therefor my goal is NOT to sway you away from booking your stay per se
but rather to hopefully help you have a better stay than i did. Although, i will tell you that their competitor
in the dells -not sure about other places is MUCH better. My goal is to help you navigate the
INCREDIBLY POOR customer service at this site so that you dont loose precious time with your family
like i did mine.
Most important points:
1) Arrive VERY early. The registration process is VERY tedious and extremely poorly done.
2)They are terrible at details so be ready to remind them of EVERYTHING! If you booked package make
sure they give you all passes and other incidentals necessary. If you dont get them...they WILL
UNAPOLOGETICALLY make you wait all over again in the crazy lines and there are NO TIMES without
crazy lines.
3) Housekeeping was one are where the workers were friendly. ROOMS however were not clean -
bathrooms :-( However, housekeeping will come on and spruce up for you.
4) Do not count on room service- there is none.
5) Cabanas are nice to have but book early and dont book the indoor sundeck...its miserable. Also,
cabana service is VERY IFFY so dont count on it. We had NO SERVICE until 5pm.
6) Plan to eat out at least for dinner.. The hotel food is mediocre at best.
7) Do not use chat function...it is useless and they will randomly hang up on you.
8) You at some point WILL need a manager. Be prepared to wait at keast 30 minutes. They will be
COMPLETELY UNAPOLOGETIC about this as well.
9) Do NOT bother with VIP. It is MOST DEFINITELY not worth it. Due to the ineptness of the
management you will NOT get checked in early and you only get one extra hour at checkout. The ONLY
thing you truly get is valet parking..just pay for that.
10) Be prepared to deal with completely UNFRIENDLY staff. Only 3 out our stay besides housekeeping
were friendly. 2 lifeguards and one waitress. The staff appears angry and exhausted. I suspect this is
again a result of poor management.
11) Honestly, for what this all coats and for the poor treatment..you would be better off at UNIVERSAL
OR DISNEY. Unbelieveably it would be cheaper AND they actually treat you well.
12) After waiting to speak to management for almost an hour, ive decided that i will NEVER return. This
has been by far the worst expeerience ive ever had at a "resort."

Excellent Weekend Getaway 5*


Spent a great weekend with family Aug 3-4. On arrival at 12:15pm, there was plenty of parking and
checkin was fairly quick about 15 minutes. We hangout at the pool before receiving a text letting us Commented [S48]: curatenia, divertisment, ambianta,
know our room was ready (an hour earlier that expected). We had a suite since there were 8 of us. 2 alimentatia, atitudinea personalului
bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room. The rooms have unique wall art of all different animals.
Kudos to the housekeeping staff! I was very impressed how neat and clean everything was!! The water
park area was kept up very well and pools were sparkling clean. I really enjoyed the music the outdoor
DJ played and the pizza was so good. All the staff at Kalahari we’re all so friendly and helpful. We had
an excellent weekend getaway! I will definitely be visiting again next year.

Going Downhill Fast 1*


We have stayed at the Kalahari every year for the past 5 years at least. Last trip will be our last time. Commented [S49]: calitatea serviciilor, atitudinea
There was so much wrong I don't even know where to start. Customer service sucked, nobody cared personalului, curatenia
about our issues, our room was terrible, the place was dirty, just terrible. Our room (it was the best suite
they offered) had an outdoor hot tub, it was full of mold! An electrical fixture in the bathroom shocked
me, there were layers of cobwebs in the bedrooms, I sliced my toe open on a nail hanging out of a piece
of trim, I could go on and on. Terrible experience. When I let them know about it, they offered me a free
buffet. A free buffet. I had 11 people with me. Come on!
Amazing Waterpark/Rooms are Mediocre 4*
We stayed 4 nights and had an awesome time. We stayed in a combination suite on the first floor. There Commented [S50]: curatenia, atitudinea personalului,
was mold in our bathroom near the ceiling (which I had housekeeping clean), the shower rod was loose, divertisment, alimentatia
the handle on the bathroom door and an attached mirror on the door was very loose. I was afraid it
would fall so we used a toenail clipper to tighten the brace clips. The kitchen walls were covered in food
splatter, the ceiling vent had dust all around it, underneath cabinets had mold and was worn. While
preparing cinnamon rolls I attempted to open the oven door and the bar came unattached. We had to
screw that back on. The kitchen sink was missing the flap that keeps utensils from going down and the
bathrooms had messy caulk jobs. The bathroom sinks were clogged and drained very slowly which left
disgusting residue after use. We also had fruit flies in our room which I think was caused by the stagnant
water left in the dishwasher. We washed an empty cycle before loading dishes. It was just disheartening
because I paid $1700 for 4 nights on a special for booking 30 days in advance and the room was so so.
Kalahari please quality check the rooms.

On to the positive...check in was a breeze as I took the advice from another review and checked in at
the Sands building where I was staying. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The arcade was
really fun but the credits to play in some games was outrageous. The waterpark was amazing and my
boys loved the flowrider and wave pool. The hot tubs with the swim up bar were genius. We enjoyed the
layout of the rooms in the combination suite and the luxury of having a kitchen. The coffee in the rooms
was more like tea it was very weak. Kalahari please get Kuerigs in the rooms. We enjoyed our massive
patio. The food was amazing! We had Zulu Grill, Ivory Coast, Candy Hut, and Pizza Pub all were
delicious. I can’t forget about the awesome bartenders ❤❤❤. Overall great place to visit but upgrades
on the rooms would be nice.

Weekend family trip 5*


Erdis from housekeeping is the most kind hearted man that works there. He is beyond sweet and caring Commented [S51]: atitudinea personalului
to everyone. And just makes the whole family feel welcomed!! He will be a reason we will come back!!

Dirty room poor customer service 2*


We stayed one night in a lodge room. We arrived at 10:30 pm after a long day at cedar point. It took Commented [S52]: curatenia, divertisment, atitudinea
forever to check in so we finally got into the room around 11pm. At first glance our room looked nice but personalului
upon closer inspection it was actually pretty gross. There was food from previous guests everywhere.
Not small crumbs either. We found a couple of pieces of old, dried macaroni under the couch when we
pulled out the sleeper sofa. There was also cracker crumbs on the sofa mattress along with the sheets
used from the prior guest! Food crumbs under the chairs, in the microwave, the dishwasher and under
the bed too. The shower curtain was black at the bottom and the bathroom sink leaked whenever it was
turned it on. Not a trickle, it literally poured from the pipe whenever we turned the faucet. We had to
brush our teeth in the kitchen sink because of this. As it was so late and we were exhausted we just
swept the food aside and passed out decideing to just deal with it the next day. In the morning I went to
the main lobby to speak with someone and the line was insane. I assume people checking in. I decided
to head to the waterpark and check back later to see if the line died down. The waterpark was actually
pretty awesome.Tons of slides, pools, hot tubs. It was a little dirty but that’s to be expected as there was
a million people in there it seemed. The only complaint we have about the waterpark is the lifeguards
are rude. One in particular yelled at my son who is autistic. He was trying to go down a slide in the area
designated for smaller children in the outside waterpark. I think it’s called bug landing. She yelled that
he was too big and to go back down causing him to cry. She was pretty nasty. She definitely could have
handled that better. We finally did speak with a person at the front desk (Shelby) at the Sands
registration desk (the line at the main lobby never died down and we had to leave) but we were just
offered an apology. We were pretty disappointed but tried to make the best of it. Not sure if we’ll ever
stay here again.
Fun at times but way over crowed 3*
We just got back from Kalahari. When we arrived there was a long line to check in. We got temp passes Commented [S53]: calitatea serviciilor, curatenia,
to go to the park instead of waiting which was nice. We came back and the line was only longer and alimentatia
ended up waiting about an hour just to check in and the room wasn't even ready yet. Some of the pools
where so crowded there was no room to get in. Lines for rides were long. Things got better because
some of the day passes and last nights guests left. It also was very nice first couple hours they opened
the next morning. Love that you can use the pool for 2 days when you stay one but really feel the day
passes need heavily limited to improve crowd level.
Another issue was we wanted to just charge things to our room and not carry a credit card around the
waterpark. A common thing for waterparks. Well they failed to mention we had to fill out a form and we
weren't going to wait in the hour long line to fill it out. They missed out on some business just because
we didn't have the card with us at the time.
Now to be fair there was some good things. Lots of things to do (outside the waterpark it will cost you an
arm and a leg to do them though). Room while one heck of a walk to was clean and fine. Plenty of extra
towels which was great. Bed was pretty descent for a hotel bed. All food ate there (pizza, nachos,
breakfast buffet) was good.

Nice for kids, maybe 3*


I spent 4 days here for a convention and overall was disappointed. The place is really busy with a lot of Commented [S54]: atitudinea personalului, alimentatia,
kids running around without a lot of supervision. The staff was mostly friendly but they didn't seem to divertisment
really care and they weren't always as helpful as they could have been. The rooms are outdated with
broken faucets, burnt out light bulbs and you have to wait almost 10 minutes to get hot water in the
shower. Very few of the housekeeping staff could speak fluent English so communicating with them was
somewhat of a chore. The food we got at the convention was good and tasted fine, but the wait staff
was hard pressed to keep up with the flow of conventioneers. The layout of the whole place is very
confusing and it was especially so in the water-park areas. It's an alright park but I doubt that I'll be
back.

Bedbugs in rooms 7/26/19-7/28/19 1*


Please make sure you check your rooms. My daughters cheer team was at camp this past weekend.
Two of the rooms had bedbugs in them. 5 of the girls from her team (another team also had bites) came Commented [S55]: curatenia, securitate
home with bites on them and one had to go to urgent care. She had bites all over her body. Their coach
went with management to look in the rooms and did confirm they were in there. The hotel steam cleaned
the teams clothes and put them in plastic bags. Thankfully my daughters room was not one of the rooms
but we have still taken the extra steps just in case since they were often in each others rooms. The hotel
advised us to keep the clothes in bags for 7-14 days. A quick internet search will show they have had
issues since 2016. I know people will say they have stayed there and had no issues, or that this is a BS
post. You are more than welcome to have your opinion. I have nothing to gain by lying on here. There
are probably several rooms that are fine. We have also stayed here prior and had no issues. I just want
you to be aware and make sure you check your beds good! It doesn't matter how nice a place is or how
expensive it is. Bedbugs can be anywhere and my hopes is that Kalahari will take the proper steps
needed in order to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.
This was a terrible end to what was supposed to be a great weekend.

A good value, spacious room, and great indoor and outdoor water park 5*
Visited Kalahari for the first time and was very impressed with the hotel room, food, and waterparks.
This is definitely a kids/teens resort--no reason to be here if you are not with a kid. Check in was speedy Commented [S56]: alimentatia, divertisment, calitatea
at noon and we were surprised that our room was ready. We had a hut room (standard I believe) on the serviciilor
3rd floor that overlooked the Sands Pool. The noise level at this type of resort which is geared towards
kids is always high--but the air conditioner unit sounded like a freight train and drowned out all the
screaming kids and parents in the hall even after 10PM. Rooms on the first floor would have had
defeaning noise from all the foot traffic--get as high as possible for less noise. The customer service was
amazing--from the greeter at the Sand's entrance to the older woman in the gift shop--all asking us if we
needed any information and giving us tips for enjoying our stay more. The outside kiddie areas were off
limits to anyone over 48 inches which was very disapointing to the 50 Inch 8 year old travelling with us.
We spent most of our time at the indoor waterpark even though it was a lovely day for being outside. (I
found the waterpark hot and stuffy.) We didn't have time to explore the animal area of the resort. There
were longer lines for the higher waterslides, but the kiddie waterslide lines were short. The food was
excellent throughout the area--B-lux restaurant could stand on it's own even away from the resort. The
burgers available in the waterpark were outstanding for a fast food establishment. The candy store is
amazing and the arcade area is clean and everything works! Will definitely be back!

Wonderful stay !! 5*
We arrived right at 4pm for our stay . We waited about an hour to check in . There was a huge line .But Commented [S57]: calitatea serviciilor
that’s to be expected with a huge resort . Our 2 bedroom African suite didn’t disappoint. The room was
fabulous we had plenty of room with our group of 6 . The w bathrooms worked out perfectly. It was nice
that your room key and charges to the resort we’re all on your wristband . It made it nice not to have to
worry about having to keep track of keys and credit cards . We will 100% return.

Mini Vacay 5*
We stayed in the Sands building Room 5515. All odd number rooms have view of outdoor waterpark.
What I didn't know is that the sands building has their own little swimming pool called the Oasis. Was Commented [S58]: divertisment
perfect to get away from all the noise of the water park. Such a nice little find. What was really fabulous
is the Sands building has their own check in until 5:00 p.m. Which means you don't have to stand in the
main lobby to check in if your Room is in the sands. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have
ever slept in! Was a fabulous fabulous fabulous stay!!!

Very disappointed 2*
We rented a cabana and had no server for over three hours. I called the service number four times. Only
one time did someone pick up and say they would send someone. I then went into the food place
attached to our cabana and asked them twice to call for a server. Then I went to the water park check in Commented [S59]: atitudinea personalului, curatenia,
desk and still nothing. We ended up getting our own drinks and food. I spoke to Bryce who promised to pret
get back with me for a partial refund last week. Well one week later and nothing. Also our suite was not
cleaned we never received face towels which is strange in itself. Also I thought this was a non smoking
resort?? We had people smoking above and next to us. Also the smoking areas outside are right next to
the doors or eating tables. Very unhappy with this visit and the response or lack there of with my paying
almost $300 for a cabana with no service.

All about the kids. 3*


For those that read my reviews just know this one is all about the kids. I’m here for a conference in July
and yes if I had small children I would of been ok. But for a conference imma say 2.5 stars - I gave it 3 Commented [S60]:
stars cause it’s for kids.

Great One Night Stay 4*


This was our first trip to Kalahari. I was very impressed by all the amenities. The employees were all so
nice and very helpful! We were there the weekend of July 13-14, so it was busy. We had pizza delivered
to our room and it was good. My daughter had a great time at the indoor water park. I'm sure that we will Commented [S61]: atitudinea personalului, alimentatia,

5th Visit = Great Time! 4*
Our 5th visit for 2 adults, 1 child, age 13. We have been before and last year the visit left a bit to be
desired with some room issues and how they were handled. Our friends have started a yearly tradition
so we came back this year. We only booked 1 night/2 days. This was fine timeframe if you have been Commented [S62]: curatenia, pret, alimentatie,
there before. We had already done the outside activities (zip lining, zoo) so knew we didnt need time to atitudinea personalului, divertisment, securitate
do them again. (extra cost). Here are the positives/Negatives of Kalahari..

POSITIVES
* Great African theming throughout the whole resort
* I thought in general it was pretty clean considering the amount of people that come in day after day.
* Lots of food options...pricey, but its a resort so that to be expected. We didn't eat at any sit-down
places as we were only there 1 night.
* Sign-up for their e-mail specials and check web-site, they always have specials & packages.
* Most staff friendly & helpful (except for rude girl in bakery)
* Lots of fun slides and water activities for all ages.
* Many dry activities but beware all are extra fees.
* Many different room layouts to suit your needs. (we just booked cheapest room and it was fine for a
night)
* Room was clean and mattress good but request SANDS section. It further away from things but worth
the walk. Last year we were in older section with HORRIBLE mattresses, leaky AC unit and hallways
that smelled like sewage.
* Lifeguards were good, on their game.

NEGATIVES
* I have been saying this for years..REWARD PAST GUESTS! Just something small like Great Wold
puts a card and fudge in your room. Kalahari does NOTHING for repeat customers and I think this is
poor.
* The place is Huge, if you have small children.you will be overwhelmed here.
* They upsell like crazy. I get that its a resort but its over-the-top in your face here. From having your
enter the waterpark through a massive arcade to mermaid swim lessons its nuts ( and thats just the
waterpark portion) There is now a magic show for $25 a person, a zoo where nothing is free ($15 for a
bottle to feed) a massive candy shop, escape rooms, bowling...you get the idea. Either bring a wad of
cash or be prepared to fight with the kids a lot.
* Crazy weather closures. It was lightly sprinkling to not at all and they closed ALL outside slides and
pool for hours even after sun came out. This caused the inside to be very crowded. It was unnecessary,
everyone was ticked.
* This is not the fault of Kalahari but in General their are nice families. It also seems to draw a rough
crowd of sorts..People who dont watch kids and just see it as a party..Witnessed a few drunk people.
They seemed out of place in this family atmosphere. You will always have the rude parents that park
themselves and dont watch their kids that run wild, push and shove others. Just know it going in..but for
the most part people were on good behavior.
* Time to refresh and refurbish those rooms, in older section, Kalahari. Dont go by the way of Great Wolf
and just live on the waterpark letting the rooms go to you know where.

In all, this year was better but having a good room made the difference.

Really good water park; could still be better 4*


I don’t like to nitpick. I love to tell everyone how great things are with my reviews. Everything was really
good at the Kalahari. The only complaint I had was we had some bad food experiences. The ivory coast
restaurants food and service was terrible and the b lux restaurant was even worse, in fact we didn’t even Commented [S63]: alimentatia, divertisment, curatenia
stick around after we were seated. We were really treated poorly there.
The main dining room was excellent for a breakfast buffet but the dinner buffet on Saturday night was
extremely lacking. They had a pasta bar with no pasta? Just some really puzzling food experiences at
the resort.
The room was great, the water parks were great, the resort is very large and very clean. I would still
recommend going but just beware of the restaurants.

Sandusky Reunion 1*
There is nothing good about this hotel. It is old and run through. The carpet is smelly throughout the
entire property, the rooms have dated furniture, the vents are covered in dust, and the bathrooms are
full of mildew and mold. Since this is the condition of the rooms imagine how the water park facilities are
maintained. There are several reports of safety concerns regarding the amenities. I would not stay at Commented [S64]: curatenia, securitate
this resort although the options in the area are limited. Choose somewhere else!

Broken Bones and Broken Service 1*


I came here as part of a yearly convention called Colossalcon. I traveled 6 hours from Maryland to enjoy
the waterpark and monster drinks the Kalahari offers.

On the very first ride I went on for the day, some unexpected roughness on the Swahili Swirl caused me
to be ejected from the raft. I fell hard on my right side and broke my collarbone. While I was being Commented [S65]: securitate, calitatea serviciilor
examined by the Kalahari’s medical employee I got asked if I wanted an ambulance but I was unsure
due to the fact I was out of state and not sure how my insurance would work. I was assured by this
employee, whose name I regretfully did not get due to focusing on my broken bulging collarbone, that
the Kalahari would cover the ambulance ride and so I accepted. When I was examined at the hospital I
was cut out of my swimsuit, put in a sling, given medication, and told “No swimming or drinking.” Great
start to my 5 night stay.

Due to being the room owner of my African Queen Suite with my other 5 roommates, I did not feel
comfortable leaving the Kalahari because my other Maryland roommates would be stuck in Ohio until
further notice or they’d be required to leave immediately with me.

I decided to talk to the front desk to see if there was anything I could do seeing as I was now out over
$2,000 for a vacation I couldn’t even enjoy anymore. I was told to expect a call from the insurance
company for the Kalahari and that no assistance, beyond a wheelchair to help avoid the crowds, could
be provided at this time. I came back the next day to ask about the call again, I was told it may take a
while to receive a call, maybe a week or so. And on the last day, I asked again if there was anything I
needed such as the documents of my injury from the medical employee, I was told no and that I should
get a call soon.

It’s now over a month later. I’ve gotten surgery. I now have a plate inside me on my collarbone to heal
my injury. I am out of work for two months with no paid leave.

The only thing I received relating from my injury is a request for my insurance information from the
hospital regarding a claim for the ambulance. Thanks.

If I could put negative stars, I would. Seeing as I began to assume Kalahari was giving me no response,
only to turn out they’ll reach a new low beyond that, I think they’d be more deserving of it.

waterpark fun 3*

Meh... 2*
I'm not quite sure what to say about Kalahari. It was meh. For our family to go and stay for two nights, Commented [S67]: pret, divertisment, alimentatia,
eat only two meals (brought all lunches, breakfasts and snacks) and do a couple of extras (think 7D curatenia
movie, and an hour at the arcade) we easily spent over $1,000. Was this vacation worth $1,000? I'm not
convinced.

The buffet was closed, ya CLOSED (no warning or information while booking) multiple attractions in the
water park were closed for no apparent reason (including the "little kids" section, which was uber
frustrating, multiple slides and pool sections) and splotchy customer service.
The food was expensive (think $70 for burgers and nuggets for a family) and it was just a step above
cafeteria food.

The sweets from the candy shop were wonderful, and the arcade had fun and interesting games
($50/three kids/45 mins) many games cost $1-$4 to play. The idea to have your wrist bands be your
room and/or pay card is brilliant. The front desk personnel in the evening were wonderful about
switching out bracelets given one too loose and one too tight.

If your kid is adventurous but not 48 inches, it's difficult too, especially if you have a second child that's
over 48 inches. So we were split up as a family all the time, as you can't go in the kids sections if you're
over 48".

The rooms were ok. Pretty dated, even though they seem to be going for the darker themed look.

Registration was ridiculous, no carts minimum, 30 minute wait. It looked jacked from noon to 5 every
day. The whole lobby just packed with people with their cards and a long winding registration line.

If it were less funds we may go again, but for the cost, I'm not sure it's worth it.

Birthday celebration 2*
This is not our first visit in fact our 3rd. We are into our 3rd day and although our children are having a
great time my husband and I are having a issue with housekeeping. 1st day checkin dirty towels behind Commented [S68]: curatenia, calitatea serviciilor, pret
bathroom door, floors dirty, toilet dirty, sofa sleeper linens dirty. Over an hour for housekeeping to bring.
Not to mention past midnight. 2nd day noticed no pots & pans for kitchen. Told housekeeping would be
at 10a. No service until after 5p. Our wing Sands closes approx 4p for checkin. Tried calling
housekeeping that went straigyt to voicemail. Went to front main guest services. Was compensated with
breakfast buffet. 3rd day still housekeeping issues. Told we have to request rooms to be cleaned. At
$300/nt. this is horrible service. Housekeeper noticed also nats in bathroom says we have to contact
maintenance. 2 more days but we may depart early. Not a satisfied guest. BTW all correspondence has
been via text. Cannot get a manager to contact us. Requested and told we would be contacted. We're
still waiting.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE 1*
I called the front desk multiple times. The phone would ring at least 9 times before anyone answers if
anyone answered. I called and spoke to a male attendant, attempting to gain some information about
the animal safari. He was very rude and unprofessional, he at one point said “ughhh hold on I’ll transfer Commented [S69]: atitudinea personalului, curatenia,
you” then hangs up. ambianta

Another issue was people smoking and vaping in the pool area. What type of a trash resort allows
people to smoke where kids are playing?!?!?! While I was in my balcony someone on a balcony near by
was smoking marijuana and the stench would meter my room where we had 4 kids. Just awful!!!!

Last , the gym was extremely dirty. Not maintained at all. In addiction to the uncleanliness of the gym,
there were 2 machines that were not functional at all. Just an extremely horrible experience and I could
not wait to leave. I will not ever return. I will tell friends and family not to waste their time going there.
love kalahari so much 5*
i’ve been to kalahari every single year since i was born and i loved it since i got there. it’s such a good
hotel to stay in water park for afternoon for kids and adults, casino at night for adults arcade for kids. Commented [S70]: divertisment
there are too many water slides for kids to have fun in. best experience i’ve had all my life i recommend
going to kalahari if u ask me.

Horrible experience very unhappy 1*


We stayed on the 4th of July. Waited about 45mins in line just to check in. The garbage from the
previous people was tied off and left in the bathroom trash can in our room, there was long brown hair Commented [S71]: curatenia
all over the clean towels that were brought to our room (after we called the front desk and waited
another 45mins for towels/wash clothes before the rest of our group could even shower) the front kiddie
pool was down our entire stay, 2 of the water slides were not operating at all, the coaster slide kept
breaking down, the big basketball pool wasn’t open so the small one was overly packed most the time.
As we were on the stairs waiting in the yellow slide line looking over at people below we watched a
working pulling a cart full of clean towels-the doors opened on the cart and the towels went all over the
nasty wet dirt pool floor, the employee picked them up and stacked them back inside the big blue cart
and set them out for people to use!!! We’ve stayed here many times but this time with our experience
we’ll think twice about coming back. I would never recommend kalahari Sandusky location to anyone
after this stay! So unhappy with the amount of money we spent and the experience we had!

Disgusting ,smells 1*
My family had to stay here for a baseball tournament. Our bathroom smells like urine so bad. The Commented [S72]: curatenia
shower curtain stinks so bad. The drain doesn't drain either. My family is leaving . Will not recommend
to anyone. DISGUSTING

Dance competition visit 1*


If your studio tries to get you to come here, tell them NO!!!! Check in is a nightmare and if you have a
problem, you have to go back and wait in the long check-in line that could take an hour. There is no
concierge working the desk. Food is okay but it is the same thing every meal. Pretty much just burgers.
We had one great bartender. Outside water park is not relaxing at all. Out of a nightmare. Commented [S73]: calitatea serviciilor, atitudinea
This place needs an adult pool and better theming. They should go to Disney and take lessons from personalului, pret, curatenia
them. None of the ice makers work. A nice housekeeper got me ice from one of the restaurants.
Seriously. Do not come here and waste your money. I had the worst 80-minute deep tissue in the spa. It
was not a deep tissue and the masseuse spent forever lightly massaging my feet. Worst 200$ I have
ever spent on a massage. Kids did have fun on the indoor slides and conference center is clean.

Outdated and overcrowded 2*


Our stay at Kalahari in Sandusky Ohio was not at all worth the $$ we paid for it. It’s so big and crowded
that we spent a lot of our time waiting to check in, or waiting to get on slides or waiting in lines for treats
or customer service. Very hard to get ahold of any staff from our room, plus everything in the room Commented [S74]: pret, atitudinea personalului, calitatea
seemed worn down. Bed was uncomfortable, the tub took forever to drain any water out of it, overall just serviciilor, curatenia, divertisment
not a great experience. The staff were for the most part very friendly, we had a few younger staff that
had that “what do you want?” attitude when we approached them. Also, the water in the wave pool, the
hot tubs, any of the pools with the exception of the pool near our room in the Sands part of the resort ,
felt slimy and kind of gross. The changing rooms located in the water park were nasty too. Towels
everywhere, floor there was disgusting and it was that way the entire two days we were there. I could
not recommend this to anyone and have a clear conscience. Don’t waste your $$.
Great place to visit! 5*
We were there for a V.F.W. Convention for 4 days! The rooms where very nice and the staff was very
friendly and nice and helpful to get around. Alot of walking to where our meeting rooms where from our Commented [S75]: curatenia, atitudinea personalului
rooms.

Great 5*
Great resort, with nice staff and a lot of good food to choose from. Pools are nice also. The hot tub is Commented [S76]: atitudinea personalului, divertisment,
nice and there is a place for the kids to play on they on side also. the games are fun and they have alimentatia
bowling and mini golf also. The pizza was great too.

Wonderful 5*
We took a 2 day family trip to Kalihari Resort and the kids loved it. Our room was clean and the staff
was great. We rented a cabana on the sun deck and had a hadicapped person in our group. The
elevator to the sun deck was out of order, they did not hesitate to give us a cabana on the main level at Commented [S77]: curatenia, atitudinea personalului,
no extra charge. Their brochure says that pizza started it all. Maybe the original pizza was good but the alimentatia, pret
way they crank those pizzas out now.... way to costly for cardboard pizza. If you go get a room with a
kitchen and buy groceries to eat and snacks. The cost of food at the resort will break your budget.

Was Just OK, for the price. 3*


I have always heard wonderful things about Kalahari and upon entering it seemed to be everything I had
heard, however I was disappointed at the lack of care in maintenance and cleanliness of the hotel. Our
suite shower had mold on the grout, the dresser was missing pieces of it, and the porch area had Commented [S78]: atitudinea personalului, pret
garbage and a beer can on it upon our arrival. The staff was more than helpful and for the most part
friendly. Because of the rain we had to spend most of the time inside where we could see the wear and
tear of the building. We had a nice time, but for the $$ we spent for a week we wish that it was the
experience we had hoped for. If we had to go back for another event we would go, but if we were
looking for a place to spend our $$ for a private vacation I would not choose this resort.

VFW CONVENTION 5*
Evan though we were holding our annual VFW Convention the same time as 2 other conventions and
what seemed like the rest of the world's vacation time, the experience was great! We were able to Commented [S79]: ambianta
conduct our business and observe the fun being had by others. After our business was taken care of
each day, you were still able to enjoy yourself and have fun with family if they came with you.

Bed Bugs! Room 3547 1*


We visited the resort for the first time on Tuesday, June 18th. Typically we go to Great Wolf lodge down
the road but wanted to "upgrade" and decided to do our annual family water park vacation at Kalahari. Commented [S80]: curatenia

Tuesday, June 18th: Check in was smooth, we went to our room, which I called myself doing a check of
the sheets and bed as I normally do at any hotel and all seemed well. We got dressed and headed to
the waterpark. We stayed out until the park closed and went to dinner. We came back, watched tv and
headed to bed.

Wednesday, June 19th: About 7:30 am I woke up and was browsing my Facebook, my 9 month old
daughter was laying sideways across me. From the light of my phone I looked down and saw something
on her clothing. I turned my phone towards her and discovered what looked like a bug. I immediately
jumped up and woke my husband and my other two kids to get out the bed! We put the bug in a hotel
cup and immediately called guest services.

It took sometime for a supervisor to come to the room. She took the cup and called back down to guest
services and used a code word instead of saying "bed bug". We were told the team that handles the
issue wouldn't be in until 9am and would come to our room. When the team arrived all of our belonging
were piled up and taken to be steamed and dried. They had a whole procedure which mean this is
something they encounter often.

We headed to the guest services desk and spoke with Justin. He was apologetic, we did receive a full
refund and was offered to be put in another room. We had to wait a few hours for our clothes to be
treated to we headed to Cracker Barrel down the road. When we returned, all of our things were bagged
up. We moved to another room in another building and at the pleading of our kids we went to the water
park and arcade. We stayed the whole day outside the room but that night I could not fathom sleeping at
the resort again. We took all our things (still in the bags provided by the resort) and left that night. It was
the worst experience ever. I was/still am worried if we've potentially brought home any beg bugs.

We've thrown out all of our luggage and some personal belongings as a precaution. What was
supposed to be a great experience for our family was ruined as the entire time I couldn't believe I found
a bug crawling on my baby. It made me wonder how many more where they? My other daughter had
two bumps on her face so I don't know if she was bitten or not.

I understand that hotels have this issue but it's definitely an experience when you have to deal with it
first hand. Just wanted to warn those traveling to the Sandusky location to be cautious.

1st Birthday for Son 5*


We booked this for their Getaway 19 Deal online. Great price for the room and upon check in, our room
was not ready yet, so we were given a complimentary room upgrade. We stayed in the Lodge room. The
room itself was great - however, the fold out couch could definitely use some upgrading. You could tell Commented [S81]: pret, alimentatia, securitate
there was some wear and tear on the leather. Not an issue for us - we were hardly in the room. And for
some reason, we could not get the fireplace to turn off completely which was a little concerning since we
had a toddler running around.
Food was excellent & they provided a pack n play for our son to sleep in - we asked for it at check in but
they must have forgotten and we had to call again to make sure they brought it up in time for bed time.
Not a big deal. Worked perfectly for our needs.

Definitely look for the deals and go during a week day when it's not as crowded. We never had a
problem finding a place to sit or having towels available for us. Lots to do for the little ones who are just
starting to walk as well. Unfortunately, having to keep him in a life jacket even in the shallow was
annoying, but COMPLETELY understandable. I'm glad they enforce these safety measures.

Only issue is that after we checked out, I received our invoice saying we had a $45.50 room charge at
the B-Luxe restaurant. We did not eat there or order room service - I called billing and they did take care
of it for me and issued me a refund.

Kalahari not returning calls about phone charger 1*


We stayed 1 night in room #2423 June 9 to 10 and I forgot my phone charger plugged into the night
stand. I remembered when I was driving home and instantly called Kalahari and was told that lost and
found was closed for the day. I called the lost and found the next day and left two voicemails and still Commented [S82]: calitatea serviciilor
have not received a callback. I know housekeeping found my phone charger, it was plugged into the
nightstand. We stayed in the waterpark the next day after check out, they could’ve easily texted or
emailed me (they had my contact information) and I could’ve walked upstairs to the front desk and
picked up my charger. I’m still waiting on a return phone call from Kalahari.

Great staff, great location, fun indoor waterpark, BUT tired room 4*
I attended the Ohio Tactical Officers Association convention at the Kalahari as an instructor, it was my
first visit and I brought my wife and daughter along so that we could have some family vacation time too Commented [S83]: atitudinea personalului, divertisment
at the indoor water park.
The staff are outstanding, very friendly, accomodating, and my family and I clicked with Erdis, the
housekeeper who took care of us and our room. I even made a point of calling to ask that Erdis
specifically be assigned to my room the week we were there!
I do want to point out that my family and I noted with some surprise how "tired" and beat up the room
appeared. I understand that A LOT of people come and go, things are apt to get bumped, dented and so
on, but by the same token I thought that some more effort would have been made to take care of those
things! It's those "little things" that can add up to a tired, beat up looking room!
For example, the first thing we noticed was a big nick on top of the dresser that the TV sits on. Then the
cover to the wall outlet by the bed was cracked in half and just staying in place from friction, and then
what really stood out were the little holes from where someone tried several times to hang the towel rack
over the toilet. Almost a dozen little screw holes in the dry wall around the rack.
The beds are comfortable. I was also rather surprised that there were not more electrical outlets for
recharging electronic devices. I recommend you bring a power strip to have more outlets.
I do recommend a family vacation here, we enjoyed the indoor water park and the game room
downstairs! Brought back memories from my youth of feeding the arcade video games with quarters!
I lived in Nairobi, Kenya, in the mid 70's and the African wildlife/game park theme also really brought
back memories.
My family and I will be coming back, we enjoyed ourselves, and just hope that the Kalahari staff put a bit
more effort into taking care of those little nicks and dings before they add up too much!

Fun for all ages 5*


Kalahari is a hotel that is fun for ALL ages. Although a tad pricey, it’s definitely worth it. I love the Commented [S84]: pret, divertisment
balconies attached to the rooms! It’s in a convenient location and close to many attractions in Sandusky,
OH!

Comfortable facilities, Great WiFi, Expensive food 5*

The rooms were nice, comfortable and well organized. I requested to be placed far away from the water
park and they accommodated me. I had no incidences of kids running through the hall or waking me up.
The WiFi connection was excellent with download speeds well above what I expected for a hotel (see
screenshot below).

The convention center had comfortable rooms, good AV equipment and the food served for the dinners
was great. My only complaint is if you partake of the food within the hotel for dinner or lunch on your
own. It was VERY expensive and that's even by my standards. Expect to pay $20 or more for a burger
and fries for lunch. I used the pizza center and paid $25 for a pizza for myself with 2 toppings.

Fun Weekend Trip 4*


We've stayed at the Kalahari a couple of times. It's convenient to Cedar Point, Soccer Tournament Commented [S86]: pret, divertisment
Complex, restaurants, etc.... However, you can stay inside the resort for an entire weekend if you want.
The waterpark is definitely superior to the other "resorts" in the area and the rooms are comparable. I
would definitely recommend keeping your eyes open for deals or promos because it can get quite
expensive.

DO NOT go to Kalahari on a discount! 1*


I’ve been to Kalahari numerous times on weekends through winter over the last few years with mostly a
positive experience.
The last two times we’ve gone have been on promotions they have sent me over holiday weekends. Commented [S87]: ambianta
Both were horrible.
It honestly felt more like “free night for Sandusky residents”. Running through the halls all night, no
supervision, drinking in the parking lot, swearing, picking fights, etc.
If you’re not familiar with Sandusky, spend an evening at their mall, assuming it’s still in business.

The best water park! 5*


They have great rides, food, and drinks! At the Zulu Grille in the water park, Joe and Frankie are great.
They make awesome pizza and made my friends and me feel like family. You should also try the Commented [S88]: alimentatie, divertisment,
nachos, I like the loaded version for $10, it's worth the price! But the $5 ones are good too.

Great place for a family 4*


Recently spent a couple of days at Kalahari in Ohio for my daughter's dance competition. The room was Commented [S89]: alimentatie, divertisment, securitate
a basic hotel room, nothing special, but the rest of the facility was very nice. Plenty of dining options,
and the food was better than expected. I didn't go in the water park, but my daughter and her friends
loved it. All in all a safe, comfortable, place for a family vacation.

TERRIBLE service - don’t waste your time (literally) 1*


We just returned from our first trip to the Sandusky, OH location. While we were blown away, it was not
in a positive way to say the least. We arrived at the resort at 2pm and were told that our room wasn’t yet
available but we would receive a text at 4pm with the room number and we were encouraged to start
using the waterpark then. At 5pm we still had not received the promised message about our room so at
520 I replied to the text message I’d received earlier in the day, asking where our room confirmation Commented [S90]: atitudinea personalului, calitatea
was. 15 minutes later I finally received a reply indicating our room was ready. We spent nearly 20 serviciilor
minutes trying to even locate the rooms since the signage inside the resort is abysmal. There are
absolutely no directions to the various wings. Once we finally located the correct wing, we found that the
fancy wrist badges didn’t work. Another trek back to the registration desk and AN HOUR wait in line
while I watched numerous people cut the line ahead of other guests and the manager scurry from one
clerk to the next (there were only 4). When I finally reached the front of the line I was directed to the
manager and told to wait in line again to speak with him. When I finally got to the manager – he was
useless, unapologetic and argumentative. For our nearly 2 hours of wasted time he said the best he
could offer was an extension of our checkout time to 12 noon. Zero apology for the delays or the
hassles we encountered.
Forward to our checkout day. We chose not to utilize the extra whopping hour in the room so as to
maximize our time in the waterpark. Good thing too as my husband walked by our room at 1215 and
saw that new occupants were already moved in. I find it hard to believe that a room can be fully cleaned
and turned in 15 minutes so either the cleanliness of the faculty should be highly questioned or the
manager failed to grant us the measly extra hour promised.
When we returned home I reached out to the resort again and the response received was thank you for
your feedback.
All in all for an annual trip to celebrate our 3 kids birthdays this was by far our worst experience of any
places we’ve visited.

Overdose Trauma in Room Next to Ours 1*


Someone died temporarily from an overdose and had to be revived in the room next to ours Sunday
morning, 5/26/19.

I texted management that during the ordeal that it was traumatizing to our two young toddlers, and our Commented [S91]:
young girl who is special needs. I recieved an apology text back from management and word that a
manager would call “immediately.”

It’s been days, so “immediately” must mean “never.” In the meantime, I am still trying to explain what
happened to the children, because they heard EMTs yelling “he is blue!” and “they have to let me go
home today, because I can’t handle what I just saw.

Make sure you call the resort not call center ahead & ask lots of questions about attractions,

Unschoolers conference at Kalahari 5*


We are here at Kalahari for the 11th consecutive year staying 5 nights for the annual unschoolers
conference. We love the Kalahari. They have excellent room combinations for large families and friends.
The rooms and conference center are updated and well maintained. We enjoy the water park too. Commented [S93]: curatenia, atitudinea persoalului
This year I had excellent help from housekeeping and maintenance when called. Special enjoyment of
Erdis in housekeeping. Erdis smiled and spoke with me each time I passed him in the hall and was so
positive and friendly. My children mentioned his kind comments to me as well. Today, Erdis cleaned our
room and it felt like seeing a gracious friend. He told me he’s worked at Kalahari for 9 yrs and that
reassured me they treat employees well. Staff and customer retention speak well of this resort.

Helpful Staff 4*
The complex is very large. I was unsure where I needed to go to register for the conference I was
attending. There was a very helpful staff member named Erdis who went out of his way to help me get Commented [S94]: distanta, atitudinea personalului
to where I needed to go. Thank you Erdis!

Great Family Fun 5*


So much fun here for our family from the pools and slides to the arcade games and mini bowling. There
were also some great food options. The room was very clean and loved the balcony which overlooked Commented [S95]: divertisment, alimentatia, curatenia
the pools. Definitely will be back.

Great spring break getaway. 5*


We did get an upgrade to a suite. It was an awesome room, living room, plus we had a kitchen with a
regular fridge. We had the room service pizza. It was so good. The water park, arcade and grounds Commented [S96]: alimentatia, divertisment
were stunning. We scored major points with our 11 and 4 year olds. Will absolutely be going back, for a
longer time next time.

Dont waste your money, especially if its your only family vacation. 1*
So we checked in yesterday. When checking in we asked if we could pay to upgrade our room to a
suite. The guy told us we could do it however there was not much diffrence between our room and a Commented [S97]: calitatea serviciilor, distanta,
suite. When we got to the room it was tiny. The suite was literally 2x bigger. There are 5 of us so we divertisment
could have used the extra room. The next problem we had was that the wrist bands are room keys
aswell. We recieved 4 wristbands of which 1 did not work. We exchanged the key then later in the night
2 stoped working. The next day 1 stopped working in the morning then two more times with in an hour
stopped working. Now keep in mind, every time a key stopped working we had to walk from the end of
the resort all the way to the hotel lobby. They have multiple lobbies, but the were closed almost all the
time. Every time we got to the lobby we needed to wait 30-45 min to get to the counter because there is
1 person working. I literally spent my vacation walking back and forth from my room to the lobby and
waiting for service. In total about 3 hours or more. Also in the pool area most of the attractions half were
closed and never opened. We have been here before and we have also went to great wolf lodge in
traverse city. Great wolf lodge is great. A ton more activities to do including more kids oriented fun like
story time and arts and crafts. They have alot more staff and i have zero complaints about them. I would
NOT recommend coming to this water park and we will never be back.
So - So -- Until 3*
Well if you are going here, realize it's a kid place and FULL of kids. We were there for a convention and
everything was so-so. Plain rooms, ok food and some very nice people. What put things over the top on Commented [S98]: atitudinea personalului
the good side for me was Brady at the front desk. Her and her supervisor went way over the top for a
special request and in the end made a couple visiting from out of town very happy. Thanks Brady, for
caring so much.

Maurey is literally the best person for the job. Made me feel important. He has the greatest customer
service ever! He is literally perfect couldn't of asked for a better person. Housekeepingwas very
disrespectful. Made me feel lesss than VIP. Housekeeping was very hostile and honestly was Commented [S99]: atitudinea personalului
unbelievable. Maurey, in the other hand was heaven compared to housekeeping hell. Thank you so
much for the best experience Maurey!

Best Customer Service I Have Received in Years! 5*


I have been coming to Kalahari since they opened their doors in Sandusky, OH. For the most part we
have always had a great time and when we didn’t guest services would be accommodating. Commented [S100]: atitudinea personalului

But this May 2019. I received the best customer service I have had. We were walking to our room in the
Sands South when we met Erdis.

Erdis, who works in the maid service, greeted us as we were walking down the hall like family. He had a
big smile on his face. Asked us if there was anything he could do to make our stay more welcomed. We
talk about maybe needing late check out. He said he would follow up with us.

The next morning Erdis knocked on our door and asked us if we needed to stay until 12 pm. We actually
ended up not needing to stay later. I was so touched that he remembered our conversation and not
even that but went out of his way to come to our room in the morning and help us.

Never in all my years at Kalahari did I have someone who was as compassionate, hard working, and
friendly. He made what was already a great experience turn into FANTASTIC! And the experience with
him makes us want to come back more often for every family outing!

Thank you Erdis for treating us like family and giving the best customer service experience I ever had.

Can’t wait to come back and see you next time!

Excellent time-Some snags 4*


Our first time here at Kalahari and it was fantastic, aside from a few small snags. The 1st issue we had
was our wristbands not letting us into our rooms, but my wife and I did not work, but our sons band did
work. We had this resolved by the staff, so that was fixed promptly. Also what hotel of any kind does not Commented [S101]: calitatea serviciilor, alimentatia,
have HBO??? That was a minor issue, just wanted to watch GOT that night lol. Luckily they have decent distanta
wifi so that was fixed as well. Food was decent, not a bad price and good quantities and a excellent
buffet. The room was ok, but now we know to get a room closer to the waterpark, this resort is HUGE so
be prepared for long walks. Not for people that have issue walking unless you can use a wheelchair. We
had a baby so the stroller was a huge difference to cart him around. Overall a really fun place!

Lodge Suite room review 2*


The layout of the hotel is ridiculous. Check in line was insane, so we came back later
... and it was even longer. An hour of our time just to check in. Considering they give you 4pm-11am in
your room, every hour matters. At check in we received a map and no other information. Once we got to Commented [S102]: calitatea serviciilor, curatenia
our room, took 45 min for our bags to arrive and the room was not the best. Dirty wash rag and lots of
hair in the tub, janky dishwasher, and ripped sheets. This stay was in a lodge suite.

Fun in the water 3*


We recently took the kids and friends to stay the night had have fun we had 1 issue with the fire place it
wouldn't light called for maintenance waited 3 hours and never showed. Other then that the park slides Commented [S103]: divertisment
and pools were nice. Kids had a blast.

$200 stolen by a hotel employee 1*


My family and I decided we were going to stay at Kalahari this year for Easter and start a new tradition
with our kids. We booked two rooms and spent even more in the restaurants and at gift shops. After
checking out and getting home I realized that my wallet was left behind in the safe that is provided in the
room. I called up the the hotel to ask if someone had found it and started the hour drive back to the Commented [S104]: pret, atitudinea personalului
resort. After I got there and was handed my wallet I open it up to check if anything was missing and I
discovered that someone had taken about $200 worth of cash out of my wallet. I informed security and
was told to call the police and file a report. I asked to speak with a manager and Justin with guest
services came out to speak with me. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. After I filed a police
report I asked for Justin’s business card and was handed a corner of paper with “Justin with guest
services” written on it. I am completely shocked and disappointed at the lack of customer service I was
provided from an establishment that i just spent over $700 at. I will not be returning to Kalahari and I
wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Great rooms and attractions 4*


The park is amazing and handles every age of kids well, although I don’t think adults would be
interested in going alone.

Rooms were clean and large but if you are in the 600 building you will be walking about 400 yards to the Commented [S105]: divertisment, curatenia, distanta,
water park.

They lost a star for the FlowRider procedure. It’s nice that they use a timer but the timer is applied
unevenly. One person in line ahead of my child asked to try the standup board instead of the
bodyboard. They took maybe 3 min to sing the release, got a 1 min lesson, then rode for maybe 2
minutes. There were 15 people in line. Are they trying to make everyone wait in line an hour? It’s not the
workers fault but they need better directions from management. Terrible.

Water park breathing difficulties 2*


The air in the water park is extremely hard to breathe. In fact, my family too has become ill with
excessive coughing and sinus issues, amongst having excessive drainage as we recover at home with
actual breathable air. According to one of the reviews, another family incurred a similar if not the same Commented [S106]: securitate
experience. I have looked up OSHA requirements and NIOSH specifications, only to read in Kalahari's
response that their chemicals are "electronically monitored." If that is the case then I pose the following
quesitons:
1. What are the specifications?
2. What are the set points?
3. What are the tolerance points of each set point?
4. What is the corrective action if points are found outside those limits?
5. How much time is allowed for correction?
4. How often are standard tests conducted?
5. Where in the park are those tests conducted? Which pools? Wave, lazy river, and other satilite
locations at the bottom of slides? What about the air in general?
6. Is Chlorine heavy? what I mean does it settle in lower spots, more so than higher spots?
7. Are the flow rides ventilated enough?
Kalahari is not just exposing their guests with hazardous air to breathe, but more importantly their
hardworking employees and lifeguards. These people are required to perform life-saving actions, but
how can they focus on those activities if they are having trouble breathing both at work and at home?

Chlorine and its derivatives used for cleanliness is important, but to continually have to shock pools due
to "child accidents" is necessary to ensure others are not adversely affected by the contents. That being
said, there still is a safe limit in which chlorine and its derivatives be used. The health of your guests and
workers MUST be your primary obligation. I have been a guest in the Sandusky resort and I enjoyed my
stays as well, but the air in the waterpark is definitely on the verge of being toxic.

I urgently request that Kalahari take the necessary steps to get this issue under control, or additional
"investigations" will take place. OSHA, NIOSH, and the CDC are just phone calls away.

It's good, not great. I guess I had higher expectations for Kalahari 3*
The one thing Kalahari seems to do very well is market themselves. The place seems amazing, but we
were not amazed any more than other than other such resorts. In fact, I think Great Wolf had a better
Guest experience- the staff. Here, we waited in long lines which could have used some more persons
staffing the desks. The concierge never seemed to be open when I had a question and waiting in line at
the front desk for something that the concierge could have handled was an insult. The room was very Commented [S107]: calitatea serviciilor, atitudinea
basic and showed some age. The fridge, microwave, coffee maker, etc, all lacked a good cleaning, etc. personalului, pret, divertisment
Speaking of housekeeping, ours clearly showed up to empty two of the three trash cans. And that is all
they did. They didn't fix the beds. How cheap! The beds were comfy but could use at least one more
pillow (jeez). Value wise? Meh- food and drink prices are high but what you would expect at a resort. We
sought at least one meal away from the property and picked up cereal and bagels from the grocery store
so that we wouldn't break the bank. The indoor rides/slides are good! Lots of options and the lifeguards
are not always hounding you the way they do at some pools. All in all, we liked our stay. The room was
lacking a bit and the lines could have been better staffed at registration (etc), but the waterpark was fun
and had many slides. We would go back.

Lost and Found 2*


Lost my change purse/debit card and attempted to report it, got the run around from one place to
another, was told to wait in registration line, long long long wait. At one point was handed the phone to
listen to half a message. Left a VM message for lost and found, with information on loss. Called three Commented [S108]: calitatea serviciilor
more times, no one ever answers and still have not gotten a call back. Poor customer service, will I ever
get a call back????

Maintenance nightmares 1*
NO they weren’t nightmares it really was the maintenance guys changing a television on the wall
opposite my bed at 1030 for NO REASON other then it “needed done” and wait there’s MORE 5:45 rolls Commented [S109]: calitatea serviciilor
around GUESS WHAT more televisions need upgraded so get out the impact drills and dump the
hardware in the hallway because here we come with a cart full of them 6 am is no time to changes TVs
for no reason sorry won’t be going back after management scoffed my complaint off love having my kids

We had the worst time trying to get a few simple questions answered. After making it threw the annoying
computer phone system. We was given false information from two workers. Two workers had good
information Two worker hung up phone after they talked without listening to one word.. Three times I
tried to talk to a supervisor with no luck. If your child is 18 they can stay with friends. You will need the
room booked in your child's name with child's credit card or a prepaid credit card.
My son had a good time with his friends. He said it was better than Great Wolf. Kalahari is cleaner with Commented [S110]: pret
more to do. Food is price like it is Disney world.

Overrated...they just want your money! 1*


My family stayed here for 3 days and 2 night's and we were not overly impressed.
Waterpark was ok, nothing special. Hotel was average. Not at all worth the steep cost I paid.
We came here from NY so my daughter could do the "mermaid experience" and get her own mermaid Commented [S111]: divertisment, pret
tail. $159.for the tail. This place should be ashamed of itself for charging this much. (Buy one on ebay
for 1/2 price) But this goes along with the theme of the place. They clearly want your money.
Locker rental is expensive, to eat at there restaraunts is expensive, gift shops are expensive..
This was a once in a lifetime experience for us because we won't be returning.

Folks, I had the most horrible experience at this hotel and reported to the Director of Customer relations,

Wanted to inform you of my horrifying experience today as I checked in at your resort in the evening.
After a long drive we finally checked into the room and my daughter had to use the bathroom
immediately. She complained of the toilet seat and I was horrified to see that the seat was terribly
stained with dried urine marks which seemed to have stuck on the seat for a long time. Not sure for how
many days it had been left uncleaned. I have attached some of the horrifying pics for your reference and
also the little card that I found on the sink for the person who had (not) cleaned the room earlier and the
Inspector who had (not) inspected the room..

I immediately, called the reception and house keeping and the house keeping guy spent around 15-20
minutes to clean the seat. It was that dirty! Still see the yellow marks in the pot!

I am a frequent global traveller and have come across and heard many hotel stories but this is the most
unacceptable and unhygienic thing I have come across in my life. Sadly, my family was a part of it and
my daughter had to go through this. I hope she didn't catch any infection.

This is the least that anyone expects from a hotel/resort and am really pained. I informed the house
keeping and front office folks that I would provide my feedback in all travel sites as this needs escalation
to the senior management and I hope no other family has to go through this experience at your resort.
Got a bad taste within a few minutes in the resort - not sure what else to expect from this holiday!

Today - was another big miss! Left our room at 10 am for the water park and when we came back at 5
pm, we were surprised to note that the house keeping had skipped our room completely. Maybe a
punishment for complaining yesterday!

Family getaway 4*
We have stayed at 4 different water parks in 2 years. Kalahari was by far the cleanest and had the
nicest rooms. We had an extra large room which felt like a suite but cost alot less. We had a full kitchen
and we used it. We only ate out 1 time. I also think kalahari had the best water park for older kids. We Commented [S113]: curatenia, divertisment, distanta
had 2 teenagers, a 6 year old and a 1 year old. Everyone had a great time! Also, on our next visit we will
remember to bring a stroller. Everything is really spread out, it was a good walk from the room to the
park.
The Waterpark is ok but the hotel was average 3*
The hotel was clean but average amenities ! It needs to be updated! The restaurants are good !

I reserved a room online with 2 beds and a pull out couch for one night. When we arrived I was told that
room I reserved was not available and all they could do was bring a rollaway bed to make up the
difference. I said “you gave my room to someone else” and she said “yes sometimes that happens” I Commented [S115]: atitudinea personalului, calitatea
also explained we were going to stay the night before but that room wasn’t available so we changed our serviciilor, divertisment
plans so we could get the one we needed. No one seemed to care about this.
When they brought the extra bed to our room it took up all floor space. Very dangerous when needing
the bathroom and it was so uncomfortable.
I then spoke with management who seemed to care less. I asked for a discount on my room for the
trouble but was told they are not allowed to do that. All he could do was give us a gift card for $50 to
spend at resort. ( I paid over $400 for the room)
Even though the kids enjoyed the water park I would be hesitant to stay again. I feel like once they have
your money they don’t care about you.

Winter Getaway 2*
This was my first trip to Kalahari and although the water park was wonderful, the beds were so
uncomfortable it was hard for any of us to sleep. The check-in process takes quite some time so be Commented [S116]: divertisment, atitudinea
prepared to wait. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. All in all we had a good time, however next personalului
time I will buy day passes to the water park and stay somewhere elsewhere.

Way too crowded and too Expensive! 1*


I feel like this place is way too pricey!! Everything from buying a bottle of water to buying dinner... it was Commented [S117]: pret
so crowded that we could only ride a handful of rides for the day. Not worth what the cost is!

Rooms...YUCK 3*
Our family of 6 stayed for 3 nights this past week and unfortunately a lot of the reviews regarding the
cleanliness of the rooms were accurate. When we first checked into our room I noticed crusted food still
on the kitchen counters, the counters were filthy and I could tell hadn’t even been wiped down, food Commented [S118]: curatenia, pret, divertisment
crumbs on the kitchen floor, and crusted toothpaste on the bathroom counter. I called front desk right
away to have someone come clean it. While they were in there they noticed ants in the kitchen sink
which annoyed me even more. Some guy with a nasty attitude came and sprayed the kitchen and
bathroom with spray which I was hoping wasn’t harmful to the 4 children I had with me!!

The next day we had went to the store and purchased some food so we didn’t have to buy the
overpriced food at the resort for every meal and when we returned from the waterpark that day there
were TONS of ants iour food that was left on the kitchen countertops (donuts unopened in a box) and
ants all over the counters SO DISGUSTING! I was extremely unhappy and called the front desk who
sent a housekeeping supervisor in to look and clean them all from the kitchen they were everywhere. I
was told they had no other open rooms and that the next night, our last night we could be moved but
that never happened. So I cleaned ants the entire rest of our stay. I was given a discount but what we
paid for a 3 night stay which mind you is more than my mortgage....I expected much better!!
Housekeeping is extremely lacking and the rooms need to be cleaned properly if they expect people to
pay what they are charging! The only reason I gave this place 3 stars was because my kids loved the
waterpark and we did enjoy our time in the park!
Nice Place for the Family 4*
The family visited the indoor water park and stayed the night so the grand kids could use the water park Commented [S119]: atitudinea personalului,
for the first and second days (even after checkout)! The rooms need a bit of updating but otherwise the divertisment
staff and park are excellent.

Very nice place but We were kicked out for making noise they claimed but everyone was sitting down
and quiet the only thing that was making noise was the tv that was provided by the hotel...And our stay
ended a day after it’s a waste of money if their gonna kick you out when you didn’t do anything and a Commented [S120]: pret
day before the stay is over..I was looking foward to sleeping the day away until cops showed up yes I
said cops.......They were not even needed..

Good and Expensive 3*


We had a few issues at check in. We arrived early because we drove in from out of state. They have
early pre check in starting at noon, which I would say is a little bit of chaos. We opted to have a text sent
when our room was ready. At 3pm and again at 4pm the room still wasn't ready. At 4:30 we complained Commented [S121]: calitatea serviciilor, distanta, pret,
to the manager and she gave us our room numbers, we never recieved that text. The room was in good divertisment
order, however we couldn't get into our adjoining room, we called the desk and the guy told us out wrist
bands needed reprogramming. This was not the case because the door needed new batteries which the
housekeeping manager told us when we got lost trying to find our way to the desk. After this issue was
fixed we enjoyed our days.

Our room was a good mile walk from all the attractions. We had a combination suite, I would suggest
getting separate smaller rooms for larger families and asking they be close. I believe the smaller rooms
are closer to the water park. The arcade is nice lots of great high tech games but expensive.

Left an item and they can't find it? 4*


We checked out last Tuesday; we realized I left my breast pump, breast pump supplies and baby bottles
just a few hrs after. We immediately called lost and found, they did not answer so we left a message and

We have been to several indoor waterpark resorts and Kalahari is by far the best yet. We had a
Groupon deal and enjoyed 2 days and 1 night at the resort. Past reviews warn of the check-in line. This
is no joke. Took about 45 minutes to get to the counter the staff at the front desk were friendly and Commented [S123]: ambianta, atitudinea personalului,
informative. divertisment, alimentatia, curatenia, pret

The water park was awesome! Our girls, 6 & 4, could ride almost every slide. The water appeared clean
and no hair. Love the hot tubs that are inside and outside. The wave ride was awesome. Our 6 year
even tried it. My husband really enjoyed being shown different tricks to try on the body board.

We ordered pizza from their shop. Excellent and was not over the top in price. The room was nice and
clean. Only stayed in the room to sleep. We also received a card for the arcade that was part of the
Groupon. The arcade is nice and big.

The only drawback was the cost of everything else. Bring your own lunches and breakfasts or you’ll
spend a ton of money.
Overall, it was awesome. We would like to go back in the summer and experience the outdoor activities.

great getaway 4*
a bit expensive all around, lots of options to keep everyone busy, we mostly just used the water park
and room the first time we stayed, but we did use the arcade the second time which was on par for what Commented [S124]: pret
you would expect, everyone left with a prize.

Nice family trip, but..... 3*


Been here at least 8 times. Although there are some great new things here, the resort is in need of
some basic upkeep. We had a lodge suite, which is perfect for a small family, especially when
connected to a hut room....full kitchen, dining room table, balcony/patio, pull out sofa in the living room is Commented [S125]: calitatea serviciilor
a queen. All basic kitchen utensils are included. Cookie sheet, spatula, forks, etc, toaster, plates and
glasses....a question I found difficult to get answered when I tried calling the resort direct and kept
getting transferred to someone at Central res who wasn't even in Ohio. Be Leary of the oven/stove. It
takes FOREVER to heat up and when it finally does, it'll burn your food. After all these years, and after
standing in line for half an hour to check in, I found out from a very nice housekeeper that there is a
second check in area called the Sands check in. During low season, it doesn't seem to be available ,
definitely not midweek, but it is a convenient entrance for rooms on the first floor and has lots of extra
luggage carts. Just something to keep in mind. Great new feature is the water park wrist bands are also
your room key. One less item to worry about hiding when you go to the water park. In low season, there
are a few animals available to see and feed between 10am and 1pm, with buckets of food available for
purchase for $20. Rules at the family hot tubs need to be consistent and enforced for everyone all the
same. Always have a great time coming with family.

Canadian March Break Stay 5*


Our family of four visited Kalahari for Canadian March school break. We booked a groupon mid week Commented [S126]: securitate, alimentatia, calitatea

We have been to Kalahari in Pennsylvania and once before at Sandusky four years ago.

We were surprised how well the water park and hotel has been maintained over the years with the
number of kids that go through the place.

Our basic room was comfortable and had a fridge and microwave. Food at the resort was standard fair
with variety.

We didn’t try the buffet do to the morning lineup and stuck with the a la-carte restaurant.

If you want to be able to charge to your room make sure you have the right bracelet given to you at
check in. We found out the hard way after ordering drinks in the water park and being told we couldn’t
make a room charge and had to go to the other end the resort to get our credit card from the room. We
were never told about this at check in although they took our credit card at check in. Of course we
wanted to be able to charge to our room.

We also travelled with our dog and boarded him for two nights in Avon Paws by the lake pet resort as no
pets are allowed in the hotel.

We also tried some local restaurants, Japanese steak house, Danny Boys and ordered pizza from Papa
John’s one night.

Overall it was a another great March break water park visit.


Great Stay! Great Staff!! 5*
I stayed here about a week ago and the staff was amazing. Connor, the front office manager, made sure
my family was taken care of throughout our entire stay. He helped my 6 year old son put on his
wristband and assured him that if it bugged him he could take it off and get a new one. He was so sweet
and actually took the time to care for us.
The resort was very busy and he obviously had a lot on his plate but he took the time to come help us. Commented [S127]: atitudinea personalului

Andrew the front desk agent that checked us in, made sure we knew where we were going and pointed
us in the right direction. He even gave multiple ideas for us to do as a family.

Lastly Ryan from Blux was an amazing server. We had never eaten there so we didn’t know what to
chose from, he helped us pick out a beer choice and food for the whole family! For being as young as
he is, he knew how to make everyone at the table happy. Derek the manager even came out to make
sure that we were enjoying our food and stay!

The Kalahari in Sandusky was an amazing experience, we didn’t meet one person who didn’t seem
happy to be there! With such a busy place you would expect there to be some negative attributes, but
speaking for my family, we couldn’t find one.

Fun but overpriced 4*


We stayed over winter break, Presidents’ Day. We had a great rate on the suite we always get. Rooms
were clean. Staff was friendly. Arcade was fun. When we rented a regular cabana they price gouged us. Commented [S128]: Curățenie, atitudinea
We paid over $500 for a cabana by the wave pool. The last time we stayed (a year ago) we only paid personalului, alimentație, preț
$360 for one of the larger cabanas near the surf simulator. The food in the restaurants was ok, not
great, but not terrible, just overpriced.

Groupn Stay 4*
I was a little worried about being "Treated Less" Due to using a Groupon, but that was not the case. We
Had a two night, 3 day stay. We made the most of it by coming at noon on the first day which ended up Commented [S129]: Calitatea serviciilor, alimentație
being a Wednesday. Upon check in, upgraded to a lodge room for free! Which included a fireplace and
balcony. The fireplace was amazing after walking from the water park back to our room. ( Make sure to
bring your own towels becuase they do not allow you to bring the ones in the waterpark back to your
room.) We also purchased the discount for $29 pizza and pop combo and breakfest tickets online for a
discount. ( tip: leave them in the cart overnight and Kalahari send a 5% off coupon) we had no real
issues with our stay. We also recived two $100 game cards! The arcade is amazing. Last time we went
there was a jungle gym for thr kids, i was looking foward to this. Not sure how long ago they took it out.
Wish they still had it. The kids can only be in the water park for so long. The waterpark is the biggest
around. If you are deciding between Kalahari and any other local waterparks and have any older kids,
pick Kalahari. We have been to all besides one and its by far the biggest. While in out stay they had a
cookie decoration and slime making. My daughter who is a big slime maker was not pleased with their
slime supplies and at $10 was not worth it. The kids were happy about thr cookies. On our first day of
arrival, we ate at the resturant near the arcade. We purchased the refillable cups and the worker told us
for our stay free refills on soda. ( Save us alot of $). Food was ok. We ate breakfast the next moring at
thr buffet, this is the only bad service we recived. We were seated ( actually in the middle) ate almost all
of our food, still no waitress. I had to ask the hostess to get her. This was a Thursday moring so not that
busy. For thr price it was a complete waste of money. I should of took the 5 min drive to McDonalds. All i
all it was a good stay. Great deal and would go back.

Wow a taste of the jungle 5*


You can hear the drums beating all night long, the halls are filled with the screeching sound of the
jungle. The lobby has a constant stream of police officers handling complaints an the parking lot is alive Commented [S130]: Ambianță, preț
with fights, screaming, firearms, drunks and arrests. The best part is that they way overcharge .
Fun for all 5*
We were a family ranging in age 17 months to 70 years young. We had never gone to an indoor
waterpark resort so decided to give it a try. My thoughts
1. Some people must have been in bad mood when they went by reading some of the reviews. We did
not have any of the problems so many mention.
2. Our 2 bedroom suite was clean and nice. We had full kitchen which was well equipped which helps
with young children. (Ok, the room a bit dated, but not an issue at all).
3. Water park was enjoyable for all of us. No problem with indoor temp. It was fine. Toddlers loved the Commented [S131]: Curățenie, calitatea serviciilor,
kiddie area. It could be enlarged is my only negative comment. Lots of lifeguards, towels, sitting areas. alimentație, ambianță
4. Restaurants typical of this type of establishment. We really enjoyed the pizza delivery to our room.

5. My only negative is kids running halls past quiet hour (10 PM). But that is fault of permissive,
inattentive parents, not resort’s fault. But that can happen in any lodging place.
6. There is something to be said for being able to take the children in bad weather and have a lovely day
playing in water. It is what you make if it!!

Fun day at Kalahari 5*


I went on March 12th to use the water park. The women working at the water park front desk were very
helpful in answering all my questions and pointing me in the direction to get the answers I needed. The
lifeguards were very attentive to the water. Seen them jump in a few times as kids were struggling. At Commented [S132]: Atitudinea personalului,
flowrider the lifeguards were helpful and encouraging. They were giving high fives to kids and saying
good job to everyone. Definitely worth going.

Just got home from Kalahari in Sandusky. What a amazing experience for all of us. Just proves you
cannot trust reviews... every staff member from the life guards, housekeeping, restaurant staff to the
valet were absolutely outstanding. Will definitely be taking the kids back.

The front desk was a little backed up but we found out most of the people were training and we were Commented [S133]: Atitudinea personalului
okay I mean hey everyone has a first day right?

We rented a cabana while we were there and to be honest I will never go back and not rent a cabana.
It’s nice to have a set meeting point and have a waiter/waitress at hand is a extra bonus.

All in all I highly recommend and we will be back.

Quick One night stay 5*


Stayed one night in room 3509. Traveled as a family and met some friends there. Room was very
spacious we all loved it. Dishwasher was a tad dirty but I ran it before I left. The waterpark was perfect
and our daughter and her friends had a great time. Spent some time at the adult swim up bar and hot Commented [S134]: Divertisment, atitudinea
tub and it was great! We have 2 teenagers and there is plenty to keep them occupied. All employees we personalului, curățenie,
met were courteous and helpful.
My only suggestion is to bring your own pillow... none of us were fans of them there.

TOO COLD 1*
they say “we monitor the temperature” yea right. The water is cold, freezing. The air outside the water is

I wanted to reach out and tell the management staff that Kimberly at registration was absolutely
phenomenal!!! She checked us in about 415-430 and she is such a happy, pleasant and sweet girl and Commented [S137]: Atitudinea personalului
a definite asset to your company! I’ve heard many reviews of staff that were rude and was so pleasantly
surprised by her happy-go-lucky attitude when it came to answering our questions as first time guests!

Worst experience of my life. Rooms are old and outdated. Ripped carpet missing furniture. Not clean at Commented [S139]: Curățenie, atitudinea
all. Bath tub had water in the bottom of it that smelt stains on the walls but mainly dirty sheets. Though I personalului, calitatea serviciilor
saw bugs pull back the sheets nope just hairs and food crumbs and bodily fluids! Oh yes they have dark
brown sheets at the end of the bed big stain you knew what it was just by looking at it. Talk to a
manager they say well we try our best sometimes sheets don’t get changed!!!! What?!?! She was very
rude looked at me like what do you want. Restaurant beside front desk horrible service waited an hour
for milkshakes that she over charged us for and said nothing she could do that’s how they rung up!!!
Horrible horrible service will never go back or recommend. I have lots of pictures to hoping someone
reaches out and does something.

My Husband’s 40th 1*
They lost our reservation twice today forcing us to only be able to stay in a hut basic room with a roll
away bed. We are a family of 5 and Monique the supervisor didn’t seem concerned about fire safety. We Commented [S140]: Calitatea servicilor, atitudinea
had booked an 800.00 cabana and planned on massages and a 3 day relaxing weekend. After reading personalului, curățenie
the reviews on trip advisor my gut told me we were going to end up with a dirty subpar room and have a
miserable stay. I cannot believe how poorly this hotel is being run. This would’ve been our fifth trip. We
will wait to go to the Wisconsin location. I can’t believe how run down things have gotten. Spend your
money elsewhere...

I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to stay at the Kalahari perioidically due to business travel. One
consistency is that each and every individual i come across is so NICE and so caring about making my
stay great! I wish to thank: Chef Grace Goo and her team for making me two beautiful birthday cakes, Commented [S141]: Atitudinea personalului,
Josh in Banquets for revealing to me some helpful AV techniques, Liz Lugo and her team of amazing alimentație, curățenie, calitatea serviciilor
housekeepers. My room was perfection - no detail was missed, including the Mountain Dew. Greg and
Brian are so gracious, and Marlene always gives me a ride full of great conversation. I love the HR team
- Judy is so amazing. The Halotherapy and the spa is heavenly, thanks to Nikki for that hospitality! So
much good to say about this team.

Long time visitor very very cold and dirty. 2*


I like kalahari. I will also return but my visits are getting less frequent. My last visit was a few months Commented [S142]: Curățenie, calitatea serviciilor,
ago. The kids love it. Room is usually dirty don’t really complain much but the last time it was very alimentație, preț
Smokey and had to ask for a change of bedding. Also the pullout sheets were very dirty which was fun
to discover as we are putting the kids down.

Half the Park was closed and it was absolutely freezing both water and air. So bad the lifeguards were
wrapped in towels to stay warm. Literally no line for anything when we were there which was great but
they just ended up shutting things down. The lazy river is unbearable to be in it’s so cold. Even the kids
area the kids only lasted 15 min. We would go to the wave pool to warm up. Not even the watered down
$30+ dollar drink helped.

The arcade area is getting just crazy. Way to expensive to play anything. I spent 100$ on a game pass it
was gone in 20 min. It used to be a lot better and more reasonable when you could do the unlimited play
on non ticket games. But majority is ticketed games now and $3-4)???) Some more a pop. A lot of the
games didn’t work or spit out tickets. That 100$ Returned some old school army guys, a couple pieces
of candy, and a couple other 10 cent items.

We will still return because my kids love it and they are cold blooded once they hit 6. But we don’t even
touch the arcade anymore. I almost visited yesterday but friends were just there and said it was
miserably cold. We are going to wait to hear that they fix the temperature problem before we return.

Somewhat Fun 3*
I didn't like this Resort as much as I liked the Kalahari that is in Wisconsin under the same name. It just Commented [S143]: Diverisment, calitatea serviciilor
didn't have the same fun & family feel. When my family was there, we didn't get to use the big attraction
because they had it closed due to not enough workers.

Conference Stay 4*
My friend and I stayed here as part of a conference, and we had a great time. We were able to use the
water park the evening of arrival and morning/afternoon of departure. Be aware if you are coming with
children that you have to go through the arcade to get to the waterpark. It was quite cold outside while
we were there, so we did get chilly after a while even though they try to keep the park pretty warm, but it
was still a lot of fun. There is a great selection of water slides and even a water coaster, in addition to
the wave pool, lazy river, kids' playground, and more. The hot tub with the swim up bar was pretty
crowded at times and does not offer room charging or age ID wristbands, but it was nice to wind down in Commented [S145]: Preț, divertisment,
at the end of the night. The Ivory Coast restaurant was tasty, surprisingly well priced, and my top pick,
though there is a selection to choose from throughout the resort. Drinks were pricey as expected, but
not quite so bad if you get one in a normal sized cup instead of the large souvenir ones advertised. I
recommend giving the ice cream a taste--Big 5 and the raspberry cheesecake flavors were delicious--as
well as the other sweets at Candy Hut. There is so much to do here, you should never be bored.

Declined - Not What It Once Was 2*


We have stayed at Kalahari properties including this one over a dozen times. Sadly, this resort once a
favorite, has declined. We arrived at 10:15 PM and waited 30 minutes to check in. Our first room had
someone else's stuff in it including a do not disturb sign on the door. I was then offered a room with one Commented [S146]: Calitatea serviciilor, alimentație,
bed for a family of four and offered a free roll away because the resort was sold out. After another 30 preț,
minutes waiting at the front desk, a room was found in the Sands building. In our new room, the
comforters that were once plush are thin and worn. The pillows on the bed were scarce and flat. The
extra supplies in the closet consists of one pillow. The bath towels once large and fluffy are now just
enough to dry one small body part at a time. We did the buffet for dinner which again used to be great,
but was over priced for the limited options. There was prime rib and ham on display, but no one around
to slice it for guests. The water park itself was great, but the food lines were crazy long. Based on the
price of this resort, I do think the quality needs to come back to what it once was and perhaps better
systems so people do not check into rooms that are not theirs. I miss the old Kalahari where customer
service and amenities were to be counted on.

Rude manager named Connor and hidden fees...just to start. 2*


We stayed at Kalahari Feb 28-Mar-3 2019.
On the first night we had the front desk call our room at 11:35pm - while everyone including our three
young children were sleeping - to inform us that they forgot to give us our breakfast vouchers.
The next day while in our rooms after being at the water park, some hotel staff walked right into our Commented [S147]: Atitudinea personalului
room without knocking or any advanced notice.

Upon checkout and reviewing our bill we noticed hidden fees amounting to an extra 10% that were not
mentioned while booking.
Connor wouldn’t remove them stating that there were for “complimentary” services like the safe in the
room, parking and towels.
When I explained that charging someone for something does not make it “complimentary” he got visibly
angry and defensive and raised his voice stating he wasn’t going to argue.

Connor didn’t apologize for the behaviour of his staff or even acknowledge that calling in the middle of
the night or staff coming into our room unannounced would inappropriate.

After meeting Connor I see why the staff behaves they way they do. They’re following their leadership.

On a lesser note, our sink and bathtub in our room were both plugged and I spoke to another lady
waiting to talk to Connor, while she shared how an iPad was taken from her room and there were
cigarette butts left in the room from the previous guests. I imagine Connor didn’t care much about that
either.

Shame on you Kalahari!! 1*


My husband and my 2 toddlers stayed for 2 nights in Feb. we typically stay at Great Wolf but wanted to
give this place a shot as it’s waterpark is so much bigger and I can’t regret it more!!! We upgraded to
lodge suite upon check in, I was so excited when we got in the room as it was huge but then noticed
how dirty it was, curtains hanging off the windows, kitchen was full of old food stains from the last Commented [S148]: Curățenie, atitudinea
people. Fridge was covered in spills and stunk so bad we didn’t even want to use it. All that and we were personalului, calitatea serviciilor
still gonna make the best of it. Until after dinner my husband went back to drop off stuff to the room and
came back to get me to show me 100s of ants crawling across the kitchen they were coming faster than
we could kill them and at the point we’re in all of our leftovers after dinner we just brought they were
literally crawling on my 2 yr old daughters face and hands I was horrified. Called front desk talked to
manager he was unsympathetic and cold just told us to switch rooms, at this point it was 8pm so instead
of using the game room or going back to the pool we packed up and moved all of our stuff with 2 crying
toddlers all night by the time we were done it was time for bed. Manager offered late checkout that’s it
said he can’t do anything more to call in the am “ as those managers have more powers” I ended up
talking to the manager next am they comped a night stay which was nice but our new room was still
extremely unclean we all slept on top of the blankets. I had to go get glass wipes from my car to clean
the tv as my girls wanted to watch Disney and there was lotion or god knows what smeared all over the
tv in their room. Waterpark was huge but half of it was not working right. The water was so cold for the
little kids there were like 2 kids in the treehouse my kids wouldn’t even go in it. The jets in the hot tub (
one thing I was looking forward to after running after toddlers all day) weren’t on our whole stay I asked
a few lifeguards none of them spoke English and couldn’t even point me to a manager. I barely could
get my girls to do anything as water was significantly colder than Great Wolf. All in all, I was beyond
disappointed we don’t have a ton of money and we saved up to go here and it was horrible and
management seemed uncaring and just wanted my issues to go away rather than addressing the real
problems are. This place needs some serious management changes as I feel like not a single manager
there has ever worked in customer service and hospitality.
Nice destination TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! 2*
We booked a 2 night stay for our family of 4. When we checked in they were very busy and everyone
from the bell hops to check in staff and bar tenders were grumpy and rude. Frankly, chack in was total Commented [S149]: Atitudinea personalului,
chaos! We overlooked it and assumed it was due to how busy they were. We were supposed to recieve curățenie, calitatea serviciilor,
a text with our room number by 4pm, but never did. My husband had to wait in the registration line
AGAIN to get the room number. Our family combination room was very nice and clean. Unfortunatly, the
lights in the king bedroom controlled the entire suite. So when I put the baby down and turned off the
lights, my husband son and I were left in the dark in the second bedroom. Literally! We had dinner at B
Lux, an onsite restauant, and it was great and convieniant!
Day 2 we reserved a cabana so the kids could nap and the idea of having a server instead if waiting in
the long concession lines was ideal! We arrived at 11am and called for a server 4 times. Our kids were
so hungry I ended up waiting in a 45 minute line for pizza, a hot pretzel and fruit. It is now 2:30pm and I
called for a server again who finally arrived. The lifeguards and staff throughout seem bothered by the
guests and are not helpful. A list of onsite restaurants and info on what’s offered during checking in
would have been emensally helpful.

Overall, its an expensive getaway, which we expected. The facility is clean and well maintained.
However, the service was so poor that I doubt we will be back. Maybe we will try Great Wolf Lodge next
time were in town!

Worst service over a busy holiday weekend 3*


The service was horrible. Housekeeping never came to clean our room. Priced were raised because it Commented [S150]: Curățenie, preț, securitate
was a busy holiday weekend, but that's not right. The water park has signs that say no line jumping
everywhere but I saw line jumping happen right in front of me.

Sands village suites 4*


Great accommodation for 6 adults and 4 kids at the Sands. The village suite was 2 double queen rooms, Commented [S151]: Calitatea serviciilor, ambianța
one on each side adjoining a king suite. So we had 3 doors to enter and also 3 full bathrooms. Main
area had a full kitchen and a nice fireplace. We were on the 6th floor and was very quite. The pull out
sofa bed was very uncomfortable and pretty much not usable for us. My only complaint.

Very good except... 4*


We got a groupon to stay here for 1 night. I called customer service and was able to upgrade for a small Commented [S152]: Atitudinea personalului,
fee to a larger room. The room was great very nicely sized for a family room and clean. The water park curățenie, calitatea serviciilor, alimentație
was also good and maintained well. My husband and I really enjoyed the adult swim up bar and hot tub
that was outside, and we were very happy to have an area for adults only! Everyone was having a great
time. My only complaint is the restaurant called Ivory Cost. There was literally nobody in the dining room
maybe 1-2 families and yet we had a 20min wait! Once we were seated it took about 40 min to get our
food which consisted of kids means and wraps... not anything that should take long to cook!
Although the food wasn’t bad tasting it was only room temperature. Overall I would recommend having a
family stay at this location and I would return but I may rethink where so choose to dine.

A lot of fun 5*
My family and I visited the Kalahari waterpark in the morning of Feb. 14th, for valentines day and we Commented [S153]: Divertisment, ambianță
had a blast. We purchased day passes and the kids had a lot of experiencing the kid pools. The Lilly
pad pool is were we spent a lot of our time do to both of my kids racing each other over and over. This
wore them out quickly and we headed home around 3. Overall we enjoyed the atmosphere and we plan
on being back soon with the kids.
Wonderful stay 5*
Had excellent bar staff at b lux bar and grill, with great food. Enjoyed happy hour and drinks later on in Commented [S154]: Alimenație, divertisment, calitatea
the evening. All parts of the stay were wonderful. Waterpark was clean, enjoyed mini bowling and mini serviciilor
golf.

The good:
The food at the three restaurants was fantastic, especially the breakfast buffet. A good variety of slides,
and the game room/laser tag/golf/bowling were enjoyed by all. The water park is huge, and impressed
with the size of the wave pool. Also impressed with the cabanas although we did not use one during our
visit. Everything was very clean.

The not bad, but just ok:


The temperature at the water park was a little cool for our liking and there were several places where it
was quite cold due to drafts. The water temp was inconsistent around the park, some rides/pool areas
were warm while others were on the cooler side. I’ve been to other indoor parks and never once felt
cold, but did here on several occasions. The room was adequate but a little on the small side.

Overall, will be back, especially in the warmer months to check out the outside park as well.

Groupon deal. 5*
Stayed here with my family and kids on January 24-25 with the groupon deal. I got the hut room 2531
and my sister upgraded to the lodge suite room 2533 for $50. It was worth the upgrade. The kitchen, Commented [S156]: Curățenie, alimentație, calitatea
extra room and connecting door help very much with our family. The water park was clean and had serviciilor
plenty of towels and seats to sit. Most the rides were open and my kids loved the wave pool and heated
kiddy area. Part of the groupon deal was $100 worth of credits to play the arcade. The payout in tickets
were good. My daughter got 500 tickets on her first spin. The arcade was a hit for the kids. Pretty of
restuarants to get at but we packed sandwiches for the trip. We did order pizza at night. It arrived in
timely manner and tasted good. Only bad thing was in my room 2531 the sink drain very slowly and the
carpet was wet by the refrigerator. I would return again but only with a groupon deal.

A must visit 5*
The kids loved the Water park and arcade. The adults enjoyed good food, drinks and service at the Commented [S157]: Alimentație, calitatea serviciilor,
several restaurants. All the staff was friendly and courteous. The rooms and facilities were clean and atitudinea personalului, curățenie
well maintained. Highly recommended

Unsafe and sometimes understaffed which contributed to my injury there

I will never go back to that place again. I was injured on the Tanzanian Twister, badly, and taken by
ambulance to the hospital. Ive never been there before it was my fourth waterslide to go on. Ive NEVER
been injured before at any park. This particular night, they were understaffed, or at least on this slide Commented [S158]: Calitatea serviciilor, securitate
they were. I got myself into position, the one attendant had his back to me, with no assistance nor
making sure my position was correct, seconds later I hit the top of my head so bad and there was blood
all over in the water. They didnt even bother to check slide safety and turned it back on. I noticed this as
I was on the stretcher, on my way to the hospital. Also, my roommate watching everything, confirmed
this and a lot more that I dont want to mention here.
Anyway, they did nothing. NO refund, no partial refund, nothing, and they wouldnt even take a report
from me. They made their own report and refused to give me the incident number or reference. I think
that I am going to get an attorney, because this is just wrong.
So fair warning before you decide to go. I later learned they has no federal oversight and so only have
minimal state level policies in place. I love water parks and have been to many... I WILL NEVER GO
HERE AGAIN.

I am impressed with the overall atmosphere at kalahari resorts sandusky. Although we had a few
hiccups, the resort and its employees all seemed to live up to the companies mission statement. We
were very happy with our room,which was a two room suite. We did have an incident where the Commented [S159]: Ambianță, atitudinea
neighbors were physically fighting however the resort security and local sheriffs were present and the personalului, securitate, alimentație, preț,
resort made the offending party leave. The kids were somewhat disturbed becuase they witnessed the
fight so we went away from the room to the arcade. We ate at a few of the restaurants. However, not
everything was open as we were there during the week. The food was good and I felt reasonably priced
for resort food. The waterpark was the main attraction and the sole reason for the trip to the resort. I
took flowrider lessons. The flowrider was great fun. However, it did seem to suffer some disorganization.
I had to pay for three riders because the minimum number is three for lessons. Then two others showed
up meaning the session had its minimum number of people and I should have only paid for one person.
Also I bought lessons at night and in the morning. When I showed up to the morning lessons no one
was there availible for the lesson. The lessons were switched to that evening. That evening,for the
second night in a row, my "lesson" in stand up flowboarding was lead by a wonderful instructor with a
great personality however a not so great grasp on flowboarding. I am a professional instructor in several
sports including snowboarding and I could never teach a lesson without knowing how to actually
snowboard. I feel the same about flowboard lessons. A flowboard instructor can not properly teach a
flowboarding lesson if they can not actually flowboard. I did reach out to the manager about this
situation and the waterpark manager was understanding and offered to provide an instructor capable of
teaching the more advanced flowboarding. I think I will take the resort up on the opportunity and give
them a chance to improve my TripAdvisor rating.

Shout out to Katrina and other front desk workers who really went the extra mile to accommodate the
special needs in our family. We needed a certain room/location and without their help we would not
have been able to make the trip. I really appreciate it. There are still good people in the world who take
the time to listen.

The good:

Friendly staff
Comfortable accommodations

Lots for kids to do (wish they had an indoor play place like they used to for kids who need to burn off
steam but dont want to swim)

Fun arcade (bring ear protection if you need to)

Lots of food options. Easy to accommodate different diets. The snack place in the arcade seems to be
the best value.

The bad:
Overpriced food -to be expected. The great karoo for breakfast rocks but if your kid eats 2 pancakes and
is done- you will be ticked. Staff is so friendly there tho.

We ate at B lux twice. First time , hubs and I went, we were underwhelmed but the kids wanted to go.
Went the second time, excellent service, but terrible burgers. Burger was raw. I had already sent my
shake back and didn’t want to be “that” person. Ended up microwaving multiple burgers in the room later
in day and they were delicious!

Room wasn’t as clean as it had been in previous years. Lots of hair elastics laying around.. not a big
deal but still.

Towels are super scratchy

Drunk young adults in the swim up bar. Folk’s this is a family establishment, even at the adult bar...
please no grinding/twerking on the bar stools. Save your sassy moves for the clubs, not for my 12 year
old who is pestering me to hurry up and get out of the hot tub. When mentioning this to front desk staff,
they were very attentive.

Wish:
I would love access to a visual pamphlet/menu that showed each individual ride, details, and maybe a
guide for scary/excitement etc. It was difficult to point to rides, then try and explain them to my child with
autism in a loud environment. We ended up watching videos on YouTube in the room but that wasn’t
practical to crowd our family around a tablet saying “see, you are tall enough” or “look that one you don’t
even really get wet”. I would be happy to help make one of these. It would be awesome to be able to go
to the front desk and say “Can I have the water attraction pamphlet for special needs” and show my
child.

Tips:
If anxiety runs high in your family, budget for the cabana. It made all the difference in the world with our
child with autism. We were able to create a home base that gave the child more freedom to decompress
vs going back to the room constantly. We were able to take our childs favorite things and store them in a
locked cabinet in between water play times.

We went for Matin Luther King ‘s day. The hotel is well organized and the rooms are in pretty good Commented [S162]: Curățenie, divertisment
conditions. The water park is awesome!! The kids enjoyed a lot, there are a lot of slides for the little
ones, and for the grown up as well. We will go back, for sure!!!

No worth the money. 2*


Sadly not worth what we paid. Many rides closed/broke down. 2 areas “closed for maintenance” Commented [S163]: Calitatea serviciilor, ambianță,
although during our 2 day stay never saw anyone working on them. Other rides not open because they atitudinea personalului
“weren’t busy enough” although we waited in line 45 mins +.

Need better ventilation. The smell of chlorine was so strong my eyes burned all through out our time in
the water park.

Contacted customer service regarding our bad experience and they did nothing to correct it.

Nothing included in your stay and just seemed like a huge money pit. Will not be back.
Staff was not that nice or accommodating either.

We had an awesome time at Kalahari!

Rooms- we stayed in a 3 bedroom suites with our family friends and the suite was spacious. It came
with a full kitchen and a big dining table. The rooms were clean.

Waterpark- it was huge and both adults and kids enjoyed.

Arcade- the arcade was really big. Lots of fun. We played mini golf and laser tag. Jacob from the mini
golf and laser tag counter was outstanding- he was super friendly and helped us decide on which fun
games to play.

B-lux- dinner was great. Would recommend.

Overall, we had an amazing trip and we are already planning to come back. I would highly recommend
coming to Kalahari!

Great family getaway 4*


We stayed in 3 bedroom suite and was wonderful for several families. We all had a great time in the Commented [S165]: Divertisment
water, slides, fountains etc. I suggest staying for more than 1 night if possible -- too much to do.

We always enjoy our stay at Kalahari in Sandusky! We stayed for two nights over the MLK holiday and Commented [S166]: Curățenie, calitatea serviciilor,
had a very nice time. I was a little worried housekeeping was going to be an issue after reading some atitudinea personalului, divertisment, preț, alimentație,
recent reviews but we had no problems at all. The room was clean and plenty of space for two adults
and one 14 year old child. We had plenty of towels, the sheets were cleaned, extra pillows were
available, and plenty of complementary toiletries. The fireplace in our room wasn't working but other
than that we had a great stay. We spend all our time in the waterpark so I don't know what the other
activities are like (bowling, mini golf, etc). We love the indoor/outdoor hot tubs, large wave pool, and lazy
river. We also enjoyed sitting at the Monsoon Saloon for several hours on Saturday afternoon. Jake &
Cindy are awesome bartenders! Very friendly, talked to us quite a bit which we enjoyed, and made
some delicious drinks! The food is pricey as others have said but we go there knowing that. We ordered
a large pizza for lunch one day which we found to be very good. You cannot take food/drinks into the
waterpark but you can take whatever you want (I literally saw people taking in crock pots!) to your room.
The walk can be lengthy but if you want to save a bit you do have the option to eat in your room. The
Sandusky area had a pretty significant winter storm which effected the hotels staffing. However, the staff
that were there were very friendly and accommodating. The guests had to wait a little longer for some
areas such as restaurants and registration, but sometimes that cannot be helped. This is the second
year in a row we have gone for a long weekend in January and it is such a nice way to break up this
month! I'm sure we will be back again next year (if not sooner)!

Young Family, 1-night trip 4*


Took our young family (age 5, 3, 1) to Kalahari for one night. We had a great time as my children love to Commented [S167]: Preț, divertisment, atitudinea
swim. They aren't afraid of the water at all. Since it was a one-night trip, we didn't get to experience personalului, curățenie
everything outside of the water park. We did eat at the Burger (B Lux) restaurant which was reasonable
prices. We stayed a Thursday night so we were too late for the Buffet, which we would have selected
knowing the 3 and 1 year old would have been free. I was worried there wouldn't be enough things in
the water park for my 3 and 1 year old (we are used to Great Wolf in Sandusky and Cincinnati). There
was plenty for them to do between the wave pool, lazy river, and 2 kiddie areas. All these parks require
life vests under 48 or 42 depending on the activity so we didn't mind that. Our 5 year old was able to ride
a few big slides as well with and without the life vest. So he had a lot of fun. The pools were very clean
and the lifeguards seemed very attentive.

I was a little nervous about the room from all the reviews, but it was really clean and spacious. If we
would have been staying more than 1 night, it would have really done the trick. We weren't in our room
often for one night. Our room took over 5 minutes to walk too since the place was so big! I did like that
the concierge would hold your luggage after check out. Very helpful. I also liked the loading and
unloading parking spots.

The food was good. Even the water park food was good. However, the water park food is really pricey.

We had a nice time and will come back probably splitting our time between here and Great Wolf.

Best place for groups! 5*


Amazing!!!! I have brought our youth group to stay here for the last 3 years. The suites are perfect for Commented [S168]: Atitudinea personalului, calitatea
brining groups. The staff is outstanding. They go out of their way to make everything perfect for us. If serviciilor
you have a group of any kind, this is by far your best bet!!!! We will be headed back again next year.

We loved our visit to Kalahari - Ohio!

It was mine and my family’s first time visiting together and we enjoyed every minute. I was a bit hesitant Commented [S169]: Atitudinea personalului,
about the stay due to some not so great recent reviews but I must say that my expectations were met. curățenie, divertisment, preț
I’m going to break this review down into pros and cons.

Pros
The check in process was a breeze.
We received a complementary upgrade of our room and when booking with Groupon our experiences
with hotels and accommodations aren’t usually very good. At times I feel like hotels look down on people
for using Groupon (just my opinion).
The resort was huge as well as the water park.
All of the staff that we encountered were friendly (especially Amanda -big shoutout-, who helped us with
check in on January 16th around 4pm; she was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful).
Our room was clean and tidied up well.
At the water park the lines weren’t long for the water slides and even with a lot of people being there
during the day, there was not an area that was overcrowded.
We got enjoy two days of the water park, as Kalahari allows you to begin using the water park 4hrs
before check in and up to 4 hrs after check out.
There is something to do for everyone - my husband and I were able to enjoy the attractions as well as
my children who are 8 and 5!
The arcade was really nice and they had a good variety of modern games and good prizes to choose
from.

Cons
Parking is pretty far from the entrance as well as the time it took each time to get to our room. Mainly
because of distance
The bathrooms could use some updating as well as their ironing boards
This resort had the smallest pillows that I’ve ever seen at a hotel but we only stayed one night so it was
fine
The heater kept blowing out cold air, but thankfully we had a fireplace to counter act that issue.
We were told that the food was a bit overpriced (we already planned to bring our own anyway so that
didn’t affect us). Plus that’s the case with any hotel or resort.
They don’t allow you to bring in outside food/snacks into the water park which I don’t think is very fair.
I think that’s about it...

Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and will go back!

Nice waterpark but bedbug found in room. 3*


Overall the trip was good, waterpark was great food was great all the rides were open and air temp was
great. Stayed in room 4602 king hut room with whirlpool. Fire alarm went off a few times in the middle of Commented [S170]: Alimentație, ambianță, curățenie,
the night woke everyone up, someone said a sprinkler went off. Upon waking up we found a bedbug on atitudinea personalului
the bed and reported to the front desk. The manager was extremely professional about it and so was
the overnight houskeeping manager. They took the bug and had it confirmed. They also offered to
switch rooms and have all clothing steamed. They also comped the room. The reason for 3 stars is the
bedbug only, i actually checked the entire room for bedbugs before we put our bags in the room. My
nieces has a great time here lots of stuff to do.

Waterpark 4*
Very good room and we all enjoyed the wayerpark. Drink and food prices were very high though. We Commented [S171]: Preț, curățenie, atitudinea
enjoyed the game room also. Would definitely go back. The manager even gave us the extra armband personalului
for free

Expensive but fun 5*


The kids and i went for a night...the place is huge. lots to do in the water park. a little expensive but Commented [S172]: Divertisment, preț
overall its worth it... we went during the winter months so we didnt get to enjoy any of the outdoor
activities.

The Good and the BAD. 2*


First off, I would like to say that the kids had a blast in the waterpark. They definitely did not want to
leave. The room on the other hand was not a good experience. When I pay so much for one night, I Commented [S173]: Curățenie
expect to have a decent room. Instead I got a room that looked like it was cleaned in a hurry, previous
party decorations still hanging on the ceiling, towels racks where hanging off the bathroom wall,
bathroom sink wasn't cleaned or dried, the patio door took 2 or 3 people to open, and there was still
food on the floor. I don't expect to have to clean my hotel room before we can enjoy it. Absolutely
horrible. I gave this review a "poor" because of the room experience. I would give the waterpark a "very
good" rating.

Dynamic Duo Sara and Sonya!! 5*


We were having a so-so time at Kalahari with my granddaughter for her 6th birthday until this random Commented [S174]: Atitudinea personalului
stranger came to our door a little after 11 PM asking us to keep it down. I was a bit taken back by a
stranger coming to our door asking us to keep it down on a Saturday night at a resort. Taking in
consideration that I wasn't having the best time already, I felt like that was the nail in the coffin. When I
spoke with Sara who spoke with Sonya and they said that they would move us to a different room. I
really didn't want to move the girls in that late in the evening, but Sara and Sonya, said they understood
the conundrum we were in with regard to the possible business people next door thinking we were too
loud, we weren't, I promise you and the girls wanting to stay a little late and be rambunctious. So not
only did she move us but they moved us to the Presidential SUITE!!!!!!!!!!! It was beautiful and I was so
thankful to her. She didn't have to move us, she didn't have to upgrade us but she did and I can't thank
the kind people at Kalahari enough for their understanding mixed with awesome customer service.
Great pool, mediocre accommodation 4*
Have traveled here a couple times over the past few years. The indoor water park remains a great Commented [S175]: Curățenie, preț, divertisment
attraction. However, the housekeeping appears to have gone down a bit. Overall, it is a good place to
go with a family, but it is a bit pricey so find a good deal online.

We spent a day in the waterpark to celebrate my 6year olds birthday. The kids had a blast, the staff was Commented [S176]: Atitudinea personalului,
super friendly and it was an overall great experience. At one point I made a trip to the Zulu Grille and divertisment
was wowed with the awesome customer service. From their supervisor, Joe who never stopped trying to
my make my 1-year-old laugh (which he succeeded) to the Awesome show that Prestin and Azola put
on when loading up the nachos the kids were treated to a first class experience. We left with our food,
tons of good laughs, and an experience that will stick with us long after our towels have dried:) . Thanks
for everyone at Kalahari for such a wonderful time and a special shout out to Joe, Prestin, and Azola :)
for making sure the whole family had a wonderful experience :)

By far the best water park we've been to!! We had a group of 13, kids ranging from 3-12 and 8 adults. Commented [S177]: Divertisment
There is something for everyone, with and without children. We had such a great time that we were
planning our next trip while we were there! The New Year's Eve party was a lot of fun as well.

First Class Water Park 5*


My family has visited several indoor water parks within driving distance of Pittsburgh including Splash in Commented [S178]: ambianta, atitudinea personalului,
Erie and Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky and found Kalahari to be the best by far. We found multiple alimentația
slides enjoyed by each member of the family. The air and water temperature are perfect. The
indoor/outdoor hot tubs are awesome!
Staff are friendly and focused on making sure you are having fun. The lifeguards that place and launch
the large tubes were especially friendly and focused on making you smile prior to launch. The RFID
wristbands serve as a room key and make accessing the water park early on the day of check-in a
breeze. A visit to the bakery is a must - the Tiramisu Cup served in an edible chocolate cup is delicious.
The entire Kalahari experience from check-in to departure is first class.

I enjoy going to this water park for the most part. This experience was different for me. The workers
seemed like they didn’t want to be there, all gloomy or angry looking. Parents not keeping their kids Commented [S179]: Atitudinea personalului,
under control or even paying attention to their small children in the water. The water park is there for you securitate
and your kid’s amusement, not a babysitter. Couldn’t go into the lazy river without kids running into your
raft and splashing you. Not a very relaxing getaway by any means.
