Course Details
Mode: Full time | Duration: 5.5 Years

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S) is a five and half-year course. The
course involves four and a half-year of classroom study followed by a year of rotating
internship.
Admission Process

A candidate seeking admission to the Entrance Examination is required to send his/her


application in the prescribed form, available with the prospectus.
The MBBS course commences from 1 I August every year. The above 45 seats, excluding five
seats for foreign nationals, are advertised in national dailies in the month of January and the
applications are invited till 3rd week of February. The entrance examination is held on 1st
June of every year in Delhi as well as 8 other Centres. The Centres are: 1. Ahmedabad 2.
Bangaluru 3. Calcutta 4. Chennai 5. Delhi 6. Guwahati 7. Hyderabad 8. Lucknow 9. Mumbai
10. Jammu
The result of entrance examination is declared in mid July. After declaration of results the
selection letters are issued by the Academic Section and the selected candidates are
required to undergo medical examination. After medical examination the candidates if found
fit shall have to pay the fees immediately
The selected candidates will have to undergo medical examination by a Medical Board set up
by the Institute, consisting of Faculty Members of the Institute. If, in the assessment of the
Medical Board, a candidate is found medically unfit to be admitted to the course, then
he/she will be rejected and not admitted and the decision of the Board shall be final. In that
case, in his/her place next candidate in order of merit will be admitted after found fit by the
Medical Board and deposition of fee.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality : He/She should be an Indian citizen.

Age: He/She should have attained or will attain the age of 17 (Seventeen) years as on the 31st
of December of the year of admission

Essential: He/She should have passed the 12th Class Qualifications under the 10+2
Scheme/Senior School Certificate Examination or Intermediate Sciences (I.Sc.) or an equivalent
examination of a recognised University/Board of any Indian State with ENGLISH, PHYSICS,
CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY.

Minimum: He/She should have obtained a minimum Aggregate Mark of 60% marks (50% in
case of SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY. (This
will not apply to candidates who have passed B.Sc. or B.V. Sc. Or B.Sc.(Nursing) final
examination by securing not less than 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST candidates) in
aggregate in any of these examinations, provided in the 12th Class examination under 10+2
scheme/ Intermediate Science or an equivalent examination, he/she should have studied
English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Boys Hostel
Hostel Rules and regulations are framed and should be followed diligently. A copy is available
with the Hostel Office It is expected that all hostellers would conduct themselves in a
disciplined manner befitting the honour, tradition, and respectability of the institution and the
profession. No form of ragging is permitted in the hostels. Hostellers are required to clear all
dues in time. Rooms are to be vacated according to rules and within ten days of completion of
tenure so that the next batch may be accommodated.In case of any problem or complaints
regarding the hostels, the concerned warden or the hostel office or the Superintendent of
Hostels should be contacted.MaintenanceAll hostellers are required to look after their rooms
and hostel property properly. Water and electricity should be consumed as needed and not
wasted. Use of electrical gadgets and machinery without prior permission is strictly prohibited.

Medical/Hospital
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was established in New Delhi, India in 1956
through as an institution of national importance to serve as a nucleus for development of
excellence in all aspects of health care system in India.Computer Facility was created in the
institute in 1978 as unit in the Department of Biophysics. At the point, computerization was on
a small scale and was catering only to Biophysics. In 1987, the institute decided to augment the
facility and Computer Facility was created and became operational in full scale in Jan'1989. This
facility is engaged in teaching, research, thesis guidance and computerization of patient care
activities.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was established in New Delhi, India in 1956

excellence in all aspects of health care system in India. Computer Facility was created in the
institute in 1978 as unit in the Department of Biophysics. At the point, computerization was on
a small scale and was catering only to Biophysics. In 1987, the institute decided to augment the
facility and Computer Facility was created and became operational in full scale in Jan'1989. This
facility is engaged in teaching, research, thesis guidance and computerization of patient care
activities.

Transport Facility

The Transport Section of AIIMS is also known as the "Main Garage." It provides transport
services to the AIIMS. However, the transport services of various centers under AIIMS and the
Hospital Section are catered separately.The section in general looks after the transport facilities
for the following:Faculty and officers of the AIIMS for official duties, depending on the
availability of vehicles.Students (medical and nursing) and resident doctors etc. from hostels to
the hospital, rural health clinic, urban health clinic and urban health centres etc.Vehicles are
also run between AIIMS and CRHSP Ballabgarh for transport of faculty, residents and
students.Vehicles also run between AIIMS and the newly opened facility at Jhajhar, Haryana and
AIIMS for transportation of staff, faculty and resident doctors.For the convenience of the
patients coming to the hospital free transport facility from the parking area and Dharamshala
to the hospital is also provided keeping in view the distance from the main hospital and the

etc.Members of the official bodies of the institute are also provided vehicles to facilitate them
