Title: Amines in Fish

Summary: Determination of dimethylamine (DMA), trimethyl-


aminoxide (TMAO), trimethylamine (TMA), putrescine,
cadaverine and histamine in a fish sample using cation
chromatography with direct conductivity detection.

Sample: Fish (fresh plaice)


Sample Preparation: 5 g sample homogenized in 50 mL of 0.1 mol/L acetate
buffer (pH = 4.8), centrifuge and filter (0.45 µm) prior to
injection

Column: 6.1010.220 Metrosep C 2 – 150


Eluent: 6.0 mmol/L nitric acid
Flow: 1.0 mL/min
Injection Volume: 20 µL
