There had been a cultural miscommunication, however; the conversation had been for my ears only. This greatly upset my Japanese colleague, although she only let her close friend at the school know she was hurt. When | found out the next day that | had reported on a private conversation, | felt horrible. | immediately went to the office of the hurt colleague and apologized profusely. Even though she had been very unclear about the conversation being private, | shouldered all the blame. | was contrite, open and honest, and | explained why | had made the mistake before apologizing a second and even a third time. | wrote the ‘school's director a follow-up memo explaining that | had come to a quick judgment and been wrong in the last report. This didn't make me look good in the eyes of my employer, but | felt it was crucial to help my Japanese colleague save face. I'm convinced | never would have repaired my relationship with the hurt Japanese had | ignored the situation or put the blame ‘on her. Define job satisfaction, and elaborate the THREE (3) ways on how job satisfaction could lead to increase in organizational performance. (25 marks) QUESTION 2 Much of the stress experienced is a consequence of work-life demands, affecting employees’ behaviour and performance. Discuss any THREE (3) of work-life balance initiatives, in accommodating different needs which lead to decline in employees’ stress level. (25 marks) QUESTION 3 A team brings advantages to group cohesion and development. However to be in a team is also associated with social loafing, Identify any FOUR (4) efforts that could minimise social loafing in an organisation. (25 marks) QUESTION 4 Path-goal theory explains that an effective leader will ensure that excellent employees receive more valued rewards than employees with moderate and satisfying performance.
