Lesson Outline:
Introduction: Start by stating the learning objectives (5 minutes)
Motivation: The students will be asked to interpret a quotation written by George R.R. Martin as a mind booster. (10 minutes)
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one”
Instruction: Execution of the Lesson (20 minutes)
1. Introduce the lesson by providing a warm-up activity.
2. Discuss the reading process and reading strategies.
Previewing
Skimming, Scanning and Context clues
Practice: Locate unfamiliar words in the given text entitled “Jabberwocky” by Lewis Carroll and fill out the table below.
Evaluation: Using the same text Jabberwocky the students will apply the reading strategies in analyzing and comprehending the poem.
