In Time Magazines article titled, “It's showtime,” talks about the newer flat screen tvs

coming to the market in the early 2000’s. It mentions many different brands and the prices that

they are listed as well as the size of the tvs. All of the tvs are about the same size and cost nearly

the same amount of money.

The source being used give a basic understanding of the cost of tvs by brand in the early

2000’s. It provides more information on home theater systems as well. These are systems that

can connect to the television and produce ample sound and sound quality. This source is a good

source because it is an article published in a quality magazine.

I will use this article to talk about how televisions in the early 2000’s were priced and

what different company brands were producing them at this time. I will also include how there

are home theater attachments essentially and how the tvs can be improved with other simple

electronics to increase the value of the system itself.

Boddy, William. (1990). Fifties Television The industry and its Critics. Chicago. University of

Illinois Press

This source provided is a book that talk all about television shows in the 1950’s. This

book provides a wide-ranging, rigorous analysis of the fledgling American television industry

during the period of its greatest economic growth, programming changes, and critical

controversy. It traces the medium's development from the experimental era through the

regulatory battles of the 1940s and the network programming wars of the 1950s.

This source is a reliable source and useful because it provides many specific details and a

lot of information during the 50’s and how technology was during that time frame. It also

provides information on the shows that were broadcast during that time and what was on and

how the tvs played it.

I will use this book as a source to talk about how during the 50s news stations and politics

started to use televisions and how this spiked and tvs started to become one of the main ways that

people obtained their information on what is happening in the world today.

“Early Television Foundation.” Early Television Foundation

This website provides many different types of information that relates to the history of

the tvs from when they had first came out. It provides a timeline from all the tvs that have come
Heitmeyer 3

to market all the way back to 1929 to 1980. It focuses on each tv and provides specific

information about all of the tvs.

The quality of the source is that it is a museum website that is credible and has had

researchers do the work and spend the time to record all the information about early television

sets. It provides the different brands of televisions and who produced them at that time. It also

provides accurate photographs of almost all of the tvs.

I will use this information to talk about how the early televisions dated back clear to the

1930’s and how the quality of the screen was and what the structure of the tv itself looked like

and what it was made out of and as well as what it was composed of.

Bouckley, Hannah. “Key Innovations in Modern TV Technology.”

This article first talks about the tvs that were produced in the 1960’s all the way to the 2000’s. It

gives examples of the tv’s in this era and what they were called. It then mentioned how the tvs

have transferred over to lcd screens in the early 2000’s as well. It then talks about how all of the

new innovations and the way the technology has improved over the years.

This is a good source to use because it provides a lot of information on the way the the

tvs have evolved. It proves how well the quality has changed over the years and how they have

become lighter, sleeker and more functional in everyone's day to day lives.

I will use this information to talk about the different types of television sets and what they

consist of. I will also provide how new technologies have influenced the tv screens and made the

quality of picture better along with the way it makes people react such as the introduction of 3D

TV sets.

History of Television - Mitchell Stephens, https://www.nyu.edu/classes/stephens/History of

Television page.htm.

In this article it talks all about the rise of television over the years and how it had started

out. It has examples of the companies that invested in the new tvs and how the technologies have

also changed. It also talks about how politics and sports have become affiliated with tvs. It talks

about how the rise of HDTV has became a factor in the production of TV and how people watch

it.

This is a good source because it talks about the tvs and things that have made tvs more

functions such as dvd players and cassette tapes and how that had made the tv more functional. It

also is a credible source because it has many sources inside it and has a bibliography at the end

of the article.

I will use this article to talk about how the tvs have changed and how they allow things to

be attached to them such as cassette tapes and dvd player to make them more useful to the

consumer and as well as adding value to them.

This article talks about how the screen size, brightness and resolution can affect human

behaviors when watching something. It proves that the greater the resolution of something that

the greater it will impact someone. This also proves how well the picture quality on tvs as well as

other devices is important.

I have a question on this citation

“Tube of Plenty.” Google Books, Google

In this book it talks about the history of television and the first ever televisions. It talks

about the creator of televisions and who it was apart of. It also talks about how the era of

television productions have influenced broadcasters and news networks such as ABC and other

new sources.

This is a credible source because it provides a lot of information on many important

people that are related to television sets and as well as how they help relay information through

the stations and tvs.

I will use this source to talk about the important people that are affiliated with tvs and the

networks they used to make tvs functional and helpful. This article also focuses on mainly tube

tvs as it says in the title so I will use it to talk about the early tube tvs became the lcd and led tv

were in production.

IEEE Signal Processing Magazine ( Volume: 31 , Issue: 3 , May 2014)

This article talks about how parameters for television systems are roughly equivalent to

the image format, including pixel count, frame frequency, and colorimetry. These basic system

parameters determine what kind of visual experiences the system can provide to the viewers in

terms of possible field of view size, quality of motion portrayal, and accuracy of color

reproduction.

This is a great source to use in my writing because it is a good credible site and has a lot

of information that relates to my topic. It also has information that is focuses mainly on the High

definition technology that improves the quality of pictures.

I will use this information to talk about the technology of High def. This technology is a

tech that is somewhat new and increases the quality of tvs drastically. I will also talk about how

there is newer technology that even makes the quality better than high def and that is called ultra

high def or 4K.

This book provides information on the historical evolution and progression of television

technology and is reviewed as a framework for understanding the developments that are

occurring today in television technology. New developments in television technology such as

high definition, wide-screen, digital, and interactive are described. The various technological

uncertainties that will help shape the future of television technology are discussed
Heitmeyer 7

This is a great source to use because it is written by a google scholar that provides

accurate information on the topic. It is a book that talks about how tvs have evolved and what

kind of information is correlated in them between many brands.

I will use this source to focus on the progression of the high def technology and how it is

a major factor in the history of the tvs as well as how the size of the screens have increased

dramatically and provided better digital quality.

This is a good source to use because it is credible and has authors that are credible to the

topic. It is also a website that focuses on digital technology and has information about the quality

and the assurance of the technology being used in tvs.

I will use the source to talk about how having the great resolution and picture quality on

television sets is important because it affects their human behavior. It also talks about how the

screen size and even the brightness as well affect the behavior of humans who are watching it or

looking at it.

Boztas, A., et al. “Smart TV Forensics: Digital Traces on Televisions.” Digital

Investigation, Elsevier, 6 Mar. 2015

This article talks about how the Smart TV is becoming increasingly popular amongst

consumers. Many consumers use a Smart TV to gain quick access to the Internet, including

video on demand, social networking and instant messaging. Most Smart TVs also provide

capabilities to connect with external devices such as a USB flash drive, a mobile phone and

many more.

This is a good source to use because it goes in detail about smart tvs and how they can be

used and what is all affiliated within them. This is a credible source because it has many authors

who focus on this type of topic.

I will use this article to help me talk about how there are so many functions in a tv

besides just watching cable. The smart TV broadens the use of tvs such as getting access to the

internet and as well as apps such as the weather and new stations and as well as being able to

access things through the tv through your phones.
