Dear Ma’am/Sir,

Greetings!

The use of tobacco continues to be a major cause of health problems worldwide. There is currently
an estimated 1.3 billion smokers in the world, with 4.9 million people dying because of tobacco use
in a year. If this trend continues, the number of deaths will increase to 10 million by the year 2020,
70% of which will be coming from countries like the Philippines.

Last July 23, 2017, the nationwide smoking ban in the Philippines was officially in effect as per
Executive Order No. 26 which was signed by our President Rodrigo Duterte last May 16, 2017.
Under EO 26, smoking is forbidden in public and private transportation utilities, as well as
establishments such as schools, hospitals, clinics, food preparation areas, and locations in which fire
hazards are present.

Accordingly, by adopting “Tobacco and lung health” as the theme of World No Tobacco Day 2019,
WHO encourages parties to organize campaign to increase the awareness on the negative impact
that tobacco has on people’s lung health. As a result, the Municipality of San Antonio in partnership
with the Tau Gamma Phil San Antonio Chapter will be having a Fun Run activity.

The activity will start by registration and giving of BIB number at 5:00AM to all the participants,
especially smokers from the Barangays, and Local Government Unit of San Antonio wearing a
WHITE T-shirt. Followed by an opening prayer and singing of National Anthem, after which there
will be a Zumba dance for warm up.

The second part of the activity will be the awarding of the runners as to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
finishers and a closing remarks.

Thus, we will be having our FUN RUN Activity at ______________________, this coming September 27,
2019 @ 5 am.
In that light, we would like to invite you and your constituents to the said activity.
Thank you very much for your continuous support and efforts for the advancement of our health
programs.

Sincerely yours,

Diana Marie D. Ampuan, MD
