Group Assignment 1

Students are required to form a group with a maximum 5 group members. No free riders are
allowed in the groups. Please complete the assignment in a team.

Project paper and presentation (25 marks)


Theme: International banking services, products, and regulation in Malaysia
• Will be given in week 6
• Submission date: Week 12
• Each group is required to select one international bank in Malaysia and produce a report
covering this information:
o The background information of the selected bank (e.g. Country of origin, year of
established, CEO, number of countries it operates, etc.).
o Products and services offered to local and foreign customers in Malaysia (e.g.
savings and current account, foreign currency deposits, letter of credit, banker’s
acceptance).
o The relationship between the Malaysia’s office/branch/subsidiary and its
headquarter in home country.
o Regulation regarding money laundering.
• Each group must go to any branch of the selected bank and obtain the above information
from a bank officer (if possible). Please show the proof of your visit (e.g. get the business
card or have a photo). The information about the bank background information can be
obtained from their website.
• The same branch cannot be used by more than one group (similar bank is allowed).
• The authorization letter will be given by the lecturer. Students must strictly follow UUM’s
dress code during the visit to the bank and behave accordingly.
• Report format:
o 1.5 spacing
o Font size: 12

o Referencing style: APA
o Report length: 12-15 pages
o Strictly no plagiarism (i.e. copy and paste from the internet), otherwise, zero marks
will be given
• Presentation: Week 13 and 14 (5 marks from the total 25 marks)
o Presentation format: 5 to 7 minutes creative video presenting your findings will be
shown in the class.
o Marking criteria are based on the level of creativity and informativeness of the
presentation.
