THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK

I. Introduction
The Diary of a Young Girl, also known as The Diary of Anne Frank, journal by
Anne Frank, a Jewish teenager who chronicled her family’s two years (1942–
1944) in hiding during the German occupation of the Netherlands during World
War II. The book was first published in 1947—two years after Anne’s death in a
concentration camp—and later became a classic of war literature.

During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, Anne Frank received a blank
diary as one of her presents on June 12, 1942, her 13th birthday. She recorded
her feelings, her emotions, and her thoughts, as well as the events that
happened to her, in the diary which her father had given her as a birthday
present. Together with her parents and her sister, Margot, the Van Daan family
(consisting of a husband, a wife, and a son, Peter, two years older than Anne)
and, later on, an elderly dentist named Mr. Düssel, Anne lived in a set of rooms at
the top of an old warehouse in Amsterdam, Holland, concealed behind a hidden
door and a bookcase. Her diary ends without comment on August 1, 1944. Anne
Frank died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945. The diary was
retrieved by Miep Gies, who gave it to Anne's father, Otto Frank, the family's only
known survivor, just after the war was over.

II. BODY
As I read the title, obviously, it is all about Anne Frank, a teenage diarist who hid
in secret annex along with her family and wrote about time in hiding during World
War II wherein their family are Jews. While reading this book, it talks about how
she changed as a person while going through the two years of living there

without going outside once. I thought this book is all about describing how she
hates the war and desperately wants to end the war. Also, i thought that she was
unaware of the dangers that could happen to her and her family. I was so
amazed of Anne Frank because despite of the dangerous events that could
attack her and her family, she was still strong. In this book, i've learned that all of
us have the right to live in freedom. Moreover, i've learned that just because you
belong to a different race or nationality doesn't mean you should treated
differently. This book is also about their hiding in a secret place for a long time
during World War II.

III. CONCLUSION
To sum it all up, when I read this book, I realized that regardless of darkest times,
I should stay positive and happy. I was so inspired of how she, Anne Frank, could
stay so optimistic regardless of dangerous times.

BATA, BATA… PA’NO KA GINAWA?

I. INTRODUCTION
Bata, Bata... Pa'no Ka Ginawa? Or Lea's Story is a novel written in Tagalog by
the Filipino female writer, Lualhati Bautista. Lualhati Bautista is one of the
foremost Filipino female novelists in the history of contemporary Philippine
literature. Her novels include Dekada '70, Bata, Bata, Pa'no Ka Ginawa? , and
‘GAPÔ.

The novel is about the role of a woman, like its author, with Filipino society
wherein the males were, in the past, assuming more dominant roles in society.
This book narrates the life of Lea, a working mother who has two children. The
novel depicts the society's view of women, how it is to be a mother, and how a
mother executes this role through modern-day concepts of parenthood.

II. BODY
This novel is all about a working mother who has two children, a young girl and a
young boy. The story could also happen in real life, because it's not just about the
relationship between the mother and the children but also because in a period in
the past, Philippine women normally and simply follow the wills of their husbands
and other male members of the society. The role of women were just to act upon
their role as mothers who perform household chores, take care of the children,
and take care of the needs of their husbands. The story of Lea Bustamante tells
us that in spite of the problem the mother has, she didn't forget the role of being a
mother to her children. Throughout this story, I've learned that it's hard to be a
mother and the children should appreciate what their mothers give to them.

III. CONCLUSION

In Conclusion, I was so inspired of how Lea worked hard for her children just to
make them happy. I realized that I should appreciate the efforts of my mother.
