CHAPTER SIX ANALYSIS OF THE BOOK FRONTAL FEMINISM 2

Women and the Material World

Women and the material world is an institutive argument of Jessica Valenti in the book

Full Frontal Feminism. She strongly echoes the minds of other women globally facing male

chauvinism especially with regards to work and material possession. Unfortunately strong

organizations still maintain that women should back-track themselves to the kitchen since their

labor in the workplace is far less fruitful as compared to the toil of men. However, this should

not be the case according to Jessica who strongly uplifts women as very flexible and able to

maintain quality service with little supervision (Kruk, 2009).

Jessica Valenti outlines key obstacles maintained by their counterpart men as hurdles to

women’s prosperity in the material world. Most women are faced with detrimental challenges at

work including pay inequity, sexual discrimination, outright lies and imbalance between work

and life. The existing wage gap is as a result of women being discriminated when it comes to

promotions, pay and even general work treatment. According to Kruk (2009), young women are

more vulnerable to this kind of inhumane treatment since they are likely to be too involved in

raising up kids at the expense of employment.

Women are finally urged to stand strong and openly rebuke such notions which are far

much outdated and should not be part of the current civilization. Women should work less with

all dedication climbing the ladder slowly in order to tackle the current crisis ‘women and

poverty’. Men must be reasonable and endeavor to unconditionally love their wives appreciating

all the unpaid labor in household chores.
