Types of Burns
a. First-degree
- epidermis only; redness

b. Second-degree
- epidermis and dermis, with
blistering but not destroyed

c. Third-degree
- destroyed epidermis, dermis,
often part of hypodermis

Types of Skin Cancer


a. Cutaneous carcinoma
- Can be squamous cell carcinoma
or basal cell carcinoma
- common in light-skinned people
b. Cutaneous melanoma
- Develop from melanocytes
- Pigmented with melanin; feel bumpy
- may arise from normal skin or from a mole
