EQUIPMENT Needed
VPS Complete Intake/Fuel Rail Device (VP055)
VPS Fuel Rail Adapter Kit (863637)

BEFORE STARTING THE SERVICE

• Always wear safety glasses
• No smoking or open flames when servicing fuel systems
• Do not perform on diesel or rotary engines
• Do not perform the service if the vehicle is making knocking or
unusual noises
• Do not perform if the vehicle shows signs of overheating such as low
coolant, weeping radiator, signs of leaking, etc.
• Do not install products until a visual inspection for signs of
leaking fluids is complete
• Ensure that the vehicle is properly ventilated. It must be outside
or connected to an exhaust hose or extraction system
• Always cover connections with shop rag when loosening
• Always keep canister in the upright position when
pressurized or when fluid is in the canister

AIR INTAKE CLEANING

contents from last service. If not, please
discard of contents safely before filling
with new fluid.
• Fill canister with VPS All Engine
Clean Fuel Rail Cleaner (884352)
• Re-install canister to the VPS

• Attach hose from VPS Complete • Start engine and run at idle. Always stand at least 2 feet from vehicle when

• Monitor engine for an audible difference in engine noise. Continue to check
for leaks
• Monitor the amount of product running through the system using the sight
glass on the tool. Continue to run engine at idle until sight glass shows the
canister is empty (15-20 minutes depending on fuel pressure)
• Allow vehicle to run entire contents of product through, until vehicle stalls
• Start engine and check for any fuel leaks or loose connections. If
vehicle fails to start, it may be required to perform relearn procedure or
disconnect (+) battery cable and reconnect. Allow vehicle to run at idle for
approximately 5 minutes to remove all product from fuel line
• Confirm that no diagnostic trouble codes have tripped. If so, clear these
codes at this time

• Disable fuel delivery by either
disconnecting the fuel line at the
fuel rail, or if vehicle is equipped
with Schrader valve, remove cap
from Schrader valve
Caution: Fuel lines may be under very
high pressure.
• Return bleeder valve to closed position
• Consult the OEM guide for the correct vehicle fuel pressure

• Attach canister to shop air supply
• Adjust the gauge pressure by turning the regulator knob clockwise (increase
psi) or counter-clockwise (decrease psi) until gauge reads 5 to 8 psi under
the manufacturers fuel pressure psi recommended for the vehicle
Note: Running vehicle 5 to 8 psi under OEM guide eliminates the need to disable or
re-route the fuel return line.
• Check for leaks throughout the apparatus/device
• Close the ball valve/shut-off valve on apparatus by turning valve back to
close position in upright position
• Close the regulator on the VPS Complete Intake/Fuel Rail Device by turning
counter-clockwise
• Remove shop air connection and let canister bleed off any excess pressure
• Carefully disconnect all fuel rail adapters
Note: Always cover connections with shop rag when disconnecting.
• Test drive vehicle and look for any signs of hesitation, rough idling or
check engine lights. Some hesitation immediately after service is normal,
until all product has moved through the system
• If a complete oil change using the recommended oil and viscosity for
vehicle has not been completed in the last 50 miles, it is recommended
one be completed after the Valvoline Fuel System Service has been
completed
