Advantages and disadvantages of a gap year experience

A gap year or year out is the time spent working or travelling

(usually up to a year) after finishing A-levels and starting
university. Many students also choose to take a gap year on
completing their undergraduate studies. So, in a gap year, we
can do several things like voluntary work, get a temporary job,
travel, and live abroad on a cultural exchange,
In addition to this, taking a gap year has some pros like we can
see the world and we get to know new and different places,
people, cultures…, we become more mature and independent,
as well as, we discover our abilities and we get a sense of what
kinds of jobs we can do. But, the best advantage of taking a gap
year is to learn and to develop our skills.
But, some people think that taking a year out is a waste of time
and that we spend a lot of money, as well as, leaving our study
for a year may have a great influence on our life in many
different areas.
In conclusion, before taking a gap year we should plan it in
advance because it takes organization.
Imagine your best friend doesn’t want to go to
University. Write an email to him/her stating the
advantages and disadvantages of such decision.

I am writing this email, because I know that you don’t want to go
to university, and I think that this decision can change your life
and your future, so you should think very carefully.
I think that if you don’t go to university, you should take a gap
year, because, in a year out, you can see the world and know
new and different places, people, cultures…, you become more
mature and independent, as well as, you discover your abilities
and you get a sense of what kinds of jobs you can do, and finally
you can learn and develop your skills, what it is very good.
But if you don’t want to go to university, it can be very bad for
your future because people who haven’t a university course will
find it harder to get a well-paid job and you cannot learn about a
specific subject.
