HISTORY:

SHE Teams stands for Safety, Health and Environment. The division is a
brainchild of Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao who was impressed by a
similar initiative in Singapore.

1.1.WHY SHE TEAMS:

Women have the power to create, nurture and transform and yet for all these positive
attributes have never been treated on par with men in all societies, cultures and classes of the
world. Gender based discrimination and violence against women have been reinforced through
prejudices, biases and attitudes that prevent them from reaching their full potential as
individuals. The attitude that women exist purely to please man have resulted in this thought
process is reflected in domestic violence, sexual harassment at workplaces, and the euphemism
called “Eve teasing” used throughout the Indian sub-continent to denote unwanted sexual
remarks or advances to women in public places.Sexual aggression is of various types ranging
from offensive watch, Cat calls, Sexist comments, Stalking, suggestive songs, display of
indecent videos to flashing, groping and molestation. Perpetrators of these crimes devise
ingenious ways of harassing women in public places, near
colleges and workplaces and outside their homes.

Sense of in security in society
Restricts Women's mobility

1.2.AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF SHE TEAMS:

To curb harassment of women in public places

Women don’t come forward to complain against eve teasers due to social stigma.
To create safer environment for women in the city

1.3.SHE TEAMS LAUNCH:

She teams is a first of its kind initiative in the country launched by the Telangana
government on 24th October 2014 with the vision of providing a safe and secure environment for
women. These teams are headed by Ms. Swati Lakra IPS, Addl. CP Crimes and SIT. SHE Teams
are engaged in round the clock surveillance of the city by mapping out “hotspots” and “hot
timings” where offenders pounce on unsuspecting victims.

She teams are a boon to the women in the State who can get timely police help and go
about their work without fear.

1.4.SHE TEAMS CYBERABAD:

She team Cyberabad was launched on 24th December, 2014. Currently Cyberabad Sheteam is
headed by C. Anasuya IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, covering four zones
(1)Madhapur Zone
(2)Shamshabad Zone
(3Balanagar Zone
(4)IT Corridor
Total Teams - 30 : 10 teams for each zone)
Total Hot Spots – 150
Total 08 She Teams are doing their silent decoy operations in their
concerned area of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate to protect
women from eve teasing.In each team: Sub-Inspector of police as Team incharge 1 SOT PC, 1
ZTF PC, 3/4 WPCs​.​They will be shuffled on rotation basis for every 3 months
