LESSON PLAN

Grade/Semester : XI/1

Time Allocation : 2 x 45 minutes

II. Core Competence

Understanding of the use of question tags question tag (factual, conceptual and procedural)
by curiousity about science, technology, art, cultural phenomena and visible events.

III. Basic Competence

1. Understanding the form and language feature in writing question tags and knowing the
differences between positive and negative tag and eliciting students’ awareness of the use of
question tags.

2. Undesrtanding the exception in Question Tags

V. Learning Objectives

1.Students are able to answer a question that uses a question tag easily, quickly and correctly
in written form.

2. Students are able to differentiate the positive, negative and exception in Question Tags.
VI. Learning Material

 DEFENITION : Question Tags is a short statement that is added in the end of the
statement to ask an information or ask a confirmation.
 PURPOSE : To ask an information or ask a confirmation
 FORMULA : 1. Positive Tags = Auxiliary + Pronoun
2. Negative Tags = Auxiliary + Not + Pronoun
 LANGUAGE FEATURES : 1. Use Auxiliary Verb
(is,am,are,will,shall,may,woul,etc..) and Pronoun (I,you,we,they,he,she,it)
2. Use tenses

3. If in the sentence positive use ‘am’ so the tag change


become “are+ not” ( Iam rich girl, aren’t I?) But it is not
used if the sentence negative (Iam not beautiful, am I?)

4. If there is the negative word meaning even there is no


word ‘not’ in the sentence (nothing, never,
impossible,etc) so the tag positive.

5. If the sentence positive, the tag is negative. If the


sentence negative, the tag is positive.

Example of Question Tags :

1. Positive Tags :

a.You aren’t beautiful, are you?

b.He doesn’t love you everyday, Does he ?

2. Negative Tags :

a. He is Indonesian, isn’t he?

b. She went to school, didn’t she?

3.Exeption ‘negative word’

a. I never love you, do you?

b. Iam rich girl, aren’t I?
