COLLABORATIVE LEARNING

Collaborative Learning is an at that involves groups of learner
working together to solve a problem, complete or create a product.
Collaborative Learning the use of small groups where students mainly
work together to maximized the own and each other's learning for the
own improvement and knowledge gain during a Collaborative Learning
session. Students not only work on academic assignments but also get to
develop their social skills and learn together which improves their
relationships will others in the class.

Objectives of the Collaborative Learning


I. Social skills or team-working skills include effective
communication interpersonal and group skills.
II. Forming skills a needed to organized the group and establish
minimum norms for appropriate be viour.
III. Functioning skills are those goal oriented skills needed to manage
the group's activities so as to achieve a result.
IV. Formulating skills are needed to build deeper levels of
understanding of the content.
V. Formatting skills enable students to deal with cognitive conflict,
compare information, ultimately facility the program from
information gathering to knowledge construction.
VI. Refer to the need to encourage group participates to related by
evaluate the performance.
VII. occurs when all members of the collaborative team are conscious
of the fact that share the same goals, that their individual effort of
each member of the team will be observed and evaluated.
VIII. Depends on how the script for the collaborative activity has been
designed. There are a number of learning process that may be
called collaborative.

Characteristics of the collaborative learning


1. The figure of speech for a collaborative learning is shared
knowledge . Also it means that the teacher has fundamental
knowledge about the topic and the students have some knowledge.
They share their knowledge interchange ably.
2. In a specific way teacher share authority with students. The
teachers support students to share their knowledge with other
students.
3. collaborative learning is not common prevalent on many
institution, it helps to satisfy many goals which behind carefully.
4. In collaborative learning the task in divided vertically, where as in
collaborative learning the task is divided horizontally members
work together were or learn sequentially on different aspects of a
project.

Types of collaborative learning

Advantages of collaborative learning

1. Collaborative learning involves clear stipulation of an education


tasks with instructions that requires students to discuss the work so
as to come up with solutions to the problem.
2. An active collaborative learning requires an instructor to view
teaching as a method of developing and increasing studies capacity
and handling meaningful learning experiences that stimulate
students to think through actual and existent problems.
3. One of the collaborative learning advantages involves the use of
different strategies such as Jigsaw technique which involves
separating a task into subtasks.
4. For collaborative learning to work students must work together in
their groups. Where students spend their time together working
they learn how to relate with one another.
5. collaborative learning is dependent on the effectiveness of the
group for the students to attend and accomplish their assignment.
The entire group discussion relies or strong communication skills.

Disadvantages of collaborative learning

1) Since Collaborative learning generally grants the students were


control over the flow of information, there is the possibility that the
focus of the instruction may veer from its intend course.
2) As with any group activity, some members may contribute while
others do not. At a distance this way pose ever a greater problem
that if all students were in the same room.
3) Certain individual do not feel comfortable participating in a group
setting, event at a distance.
4) problems may result if group members cannot agree or will not
compromise. This can prove to be a huge problem the group
project is to be graded at group level.
5) It can often be difficult to assemble all members of a particular
group at the same time, especially in a distance-learning
environment.
6) The abundance of information that a group generation can prove
to be difficult to compile individually.
