Who is Gloc-9?
● He first did covers of covers of songs of singers like
Ogie Alcasid, Randy Santiago, and Gino Padilla before
being into rap.

● In 2002, Gloc-9 co-wrote a song with Mike Villegas


for a song-writing competition, Himig Handog Love
Songs titled, “Bakit?” This was one of his first TV
appearances.

● After being occupied by the US in 1946, American
culture has remained to be of great impact in
Philippine culture and society.
● Rap made its way to Filipinos through US bases
stationed in the country. Bars, discos, and radio
stations like Voice of America was an an avenue in
spreading this kind of music.
