5 Textbook
The textbook used will be "Discrete-Time Signal Processing" (3rd edition) by Oppenheim
and Schafer. The textbook should be considered required, since there will be several reading
assignments from the book.

6 Evaluation
Important note: Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated. Any cheating will result in
disciplinary action and a fail grade in the course.
1. Homeworks (15%): There will be several homeworks (about six) that will be evaluated.
The homework with the lowest score will be dropped. There will be computer assign-
ments that will require the use of GNU Octave.
2. Quizzes (15%): There will be six 15 minute quizzes in class. These will be held in the
beginning of the class on 14th August, 28th August, 11th September, 4th October, 16th
October and 30th October. The quiz with the lowest score will be dropped.
3. Mid-semester exam (30%)
4. End-semester exam (40%)
Audit policy: A pass will be awarded for grade CC or equivalent. Audit students must attend
classes and attempt homeworks as regular. The “pass” criterion is a CC grade.
