What is Padlet?

 Padlet is an application to create an online bulletin board that you can use to display
information for any topic. Easily create an account and build a new board. You can add
images, links, videos, and more.
History of Padlet
• Founded in 2008, Padlet's founder and CEO, Nitesh Goel proclaimed it “the easiest way
to put stuff on the web.” The tool attracted users with a simple interface that allowed
users to drag and drop files from their desktop and add links from the web onto a web-
based canvas (called a “padlet”).

Steps in Creating a Padlet


Step 1: Creating an Account (Optional)
• Go to www.padlet.com and sign up or create a padlet right away!
• Note: Paldets created without an account may not be editable after closing off your
browser.
Step 2: Create a padlet
• Get started by clicking pink button 'New Padlet' - it's free and only takes 2 seconds’
• Step 3: Customize
• Customize wall by clicking on Modify button. The gear icon on the upper right side of the
page.
• Address: Pick a web address for your wall. Make it easy to remember. Ex.
• padlet.com/username/class1
• Wallpaper: Change background for your wall
• Basic Info: Write title for the page, description (a short sentence about the page)

Main Features

 Its settings allow you to make your wall completely open for public contributions,
completely private, or moderated by you (you approve all contributions before they
show).
 Free accounts allow you to make 11 Padlets that include search, themes, stats, premium
wallpapers, and cross-device support for uploaded videos.
 You can always delete an old Padlet to make a new one. This is a device-agnostic tool,
available on the web but also available for free as both an Android and iOS app.
 Use it from any device or move between several devices and still access your work. App
and web versions vary slightly.
Main Buttons

Heart Button- which enables you to like someone’s wall.


Remake Button-which enables you to clear out your current wall and create new padlet.
Share Button-which enables you to share your padlet through link-sharing and etc.
Gear Button-which enables you to modify your wall.
Ellipsis Button or More Button: which opens up some options for your wall.
Edit post Button(Pencil Logo)- enables you to edit your post
Delete post Button(Trash Can Logo)- enables you to delete your post.
More actions button(Ellipsis button beside Delete post button)- enables you to open more
options to edit the content of your post.
Ways it can be Shared Online
Padlet can be shared through:
• posting or sharing links via any social media site.
• embedding the link in any blogging site.
Pros of Using Padlet

7. Privacy settings allows a user to control what others can do on your wall

Cons of Using Padlet
1. In order to create a wall without an account, Padlet installs a cookie on your computer to
help you gain access back to your wall. It can be deleted or blocked by your computers
virus protection software, leaving users unable to access their wall.
2. Inappropriate content may be created by other users on the site.
3. Browsing walls can turn up material that is not suitable for children.
4. Teachers have no control of what students may type or post.
5. Padlet is not appropriate for projection but only to user to user interaction.
Benefits of Padlet to Students
1. Integration of e-learning to the 21st century learners wherein students can share notes
with others in the form of text, images, videos and other files.
2. It allows students to access, receive, transfer and evaluate information through a
collaborative communication.
3. As a tool that suits the students as its users because it has a user-friendly interface, it
allows the user to easily grasp its functions to deliver information and communicate
efficiently.
4. It allows students to organize information the way they want for them to study or share
with others.
