To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to recommend LaChaun Freeland for an opening in your organization. I have known LaChaun since
August 2018 as she was one of the Resident Assistants (RA) in which I supervised at Millersville University. As an
RA, LaChaun has shown exemplary communication and interpersonal skills when speaking to residents or her RA staff
members. LaChaun takes initiative for any task that needs to be completed and offers to help out whenever needed and
would be a remarkable student in the program.

There have been multiple times during the semester where LaChaun was able to step up and take initiative when issues
occurred on her floor. She built rapport quickly with her residents and was always there to help them with issues that
included inclusivity and understanding/confronting biases. She ensured that her residents were well informed of
upcoming events and that both first year and second year students were adjusting accordingly to the new school year.
She put in incredible effort for all of her events that she planned, particularly for the first year students to feel “at
home” at Millersville. She has collaborated with multiple RAs and other campus constituents to put on programs to
help students succeed both inside and outside the classroom. She also facilitated a session on Microaggressions during
Spring RA Training. LaChaun is a seamless representative of a student who receives high grades but is also very
involved in the campus community.

LaChaun has shown her that her biggest strength as an RA is being able to listen to residents and their concerns for
themselves or the community. She has developed impeccable leadership for not only her floor, but for her residents
and fellow RAs as well. LaChaun showed me that she is able to expertly multitask with all of her activities and classes
and still maintain inspiring relationships with her residents.

LaChaun’s leadership skills and relationship-building skills constantly are growing and developing and have only
improved since I first met her. In sum, I highly recommend LaChaun for this opening at your organization. Her
discipline and passion for learning and working with others make her a particularly well suited candidate for this
opportunity.

Sincerely,
