DAR conducts training for new writers

Twenty-seven (27) new members of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)


pool of writers attended an orientation on Sexual Harassment, Peace and Order and
other Laws concerning Women’s Protection on July 9, 2019 at Villa Caceres Hotel,
Naga City.

The participants were the newly designated members of the pool of writers as
assigned by their respective Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officers (PARPO II)
in compliance with DARRO Memorandum 1904-033 on the Strengthening of DAR Bicol
Public Information and Communication Campaign. The writers come from different
divisions of DAR in their respective provinces who are tasked to prepare written
communication and photographs of the department’s activities to sustain the mass
media and social marketing campaign.

Several topics were discussed like the Quick Pointers on Basic Grammar by Mr.
Jon Tuason which reminded the participants of the basic use of grammar and the
correct usage of words and phrases and the lecture on Sexual Harassment and Magna
Carta of Women by Atty. Deonalaine Figura. Atty. Figura emphasized the salient
features of Republic Act 7877 of 1995 or the Anti-Sexual Harassment and the 2017
Rules in Administrative Cases in the Civil Service.

Mr. Geri Buensalida, Acting Regional Information Officer (RIO) stressed the
importance of the activity to budding writers like the participants. “The inputs of the
speakers will definitely be of help to you in your future endeavours. Not only in our
line of work but in our daily dealings with our clienteles and stakeholders, had
Buensalida added.

The training a three-day event that will also tackle topics on the Capability
Enhancement on Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Materials and
Development. These activities were undertaken in support to DAR’s Gender
Awareness and Development Advocacy Campaign.
