Simplifications and Extensions

Comparing Fractions For a gifted child who needs enrichment I


will allow them to take the pictures of the
students playing their comparing fraction
game.

For a child with ADHD I will allow them to


sit close to me. I will watch them closely
and make sure they are focused during
the game. If they do get sidetracked, I will
make sure I bring them back to the game
with their partner.

For an English language learner, I will


speak clearly and directly towards the
student. I will make sure I have notecards
with pictures of the fractions that we are
using in class.
Pizza Fractions For a gifted child who needs enrichment I
will allow them to hang the pizza fractions
in the hallway.

visualize the idea of decomposing a whole
unit.

For an English language learner, I will

will allow them to play Fraction Go Fish
with fractions that have bigger
denominators such as ones that are as
big as 50.
