Chart Types
Excel offers several types of charts for the user. These charts
can be used to present data in an easily understandable
format. Following are the chart types and their respective use:
– Line graph – To show margin trends
– Line graphs with 2 axes – To compare margins across companies
– Pie graph – To show segment split or market share data
– Scatter plot – To plot companies on each quadrant where the axes
define parameters like gross margin or net margin.
– Bubble graph – To compare competitors across more than one scale.

Creating Charts

You can quickly create a chart in Microsoft Excel by using


the Chart Wizard. In this wizard, you can choose from a
variety of chart types and specify various chart options.
On the worksheet, select the cells that contain the data that
you want to use for the chart.
Click “Chart” on the “Insert” menu and follow the
instructions in the Chart Wizard.
