Slogan:​ A slow fashion brand for a responsible consumer

Big Fat Feminist™ is a online retailer. It specializes in plus


sized sustainable and ethically made clothing for people
invested in slow fashion. BFF will have a rotating capsule
collection of 5-7 pieces at a time. Those pieces will then go
on sale (if there are any remaining) to make space for new
items. It is not a non for profit, but hopefully after we are
more widely recognized we can set up a plan to donate
some our proceeds.

Elevator Pitch:
The fashion industry has failed us. For years it has told
people - especially women they are not skinny enough,
feminine enough, or beautiful enough. The entire industry
makes its money from people's insecurities, and as a brand
we want to help change this. We want to reinvent people’s
idea of fashion and beauty. We aim to thrive from helping
people gain confidence.

There is a lack of sustainable, ethically made, plus size clothing, and we aim to fill that gap. The
average women is size 16/18 but only a fraction of stores carry sizes larger than a 12. Here at BFF we
want people to shop responsibly and stylishly, with options for larger folks. We do specialize in ‘womens’
clothes, but all of our garments can be unisex -- or as we like to say - Unisexy ;) We strive to be
transparent, inclusive, and respectful of everything the earth had given us.

What specific building needs do you have?


Our building will be in a up in coming area where rent is cheaper for we need space to produce
our products. We need enough space for 8 staff members. Seven will be in production and one will pack
and mail. Our office will have a minimalist design, and a open concept workspace with vibrant coloured
walls to promote a happy work environment. Large tables with sewing machines, outlets and chairs along
with a break room will also be necessary for our office.  
What specific locational needs do you have?
We need to have access to a highways, roads and transit for employees. We do not need to be or
want to be in the central business district or surrounding residential areas. Fabrics will be from local
artisans so we need roads, for these deliveries along with other supplies. There is no need to be near
shopping centres or populated areas for we offer online services.
Who is your target demographic/market?
Plus size people who support local, sustainable, fashion who are likely to be in their 20-30s.
Online shopping is popular amongst this generation and social media is a easy and cheap way to market
our fantastic products. Like we mentioned above our clothes are specialized for ‘women’, but can be
unisex.

What is the approx. Range / Threshold of your business?


The range extends to a national service as we ship all throughout canada. There is no need for
our customers to travel.

Who and where is your competition located? Do you want to be near or far from
competitors? or from like, complimentary organizations.
Our main competitors are also online, but as there are very little plus size sustainable fashion and
because it is a rather untapped market, competitors are not a large concern of ours.
