Nurse Recruiter
Phoenix Children’s Hospital
1919 E. Thomas Rd.
Phoenix, AZ 85016

Dear Nurse Recruiter,

I am writing in response to your posting about a new-graduate nursing

position at your wonderful facility. Recently I completed my preceptorship on a
medical-surgical unit at the Tucson VA Hospital and it was a great learning
experience, one that I think would help me wherever I go in nursing. I would like to
continue this experience at one of your reputable hospitals, preferably on a medical-
surgical floor. In the future, I am interested in working in oncology and possibly a
bone-marrow transplant floor, seeing as I have a passion for these areas and their
patient population.
Currently I am in the BSN program at the University of Arizona College of
Nursing and will be graduating in December 2019. My GPA is a 3.5 and I am very
dedicated to both my studies and my community. I am a member of the medical
team at Rock Point Church and also volunteer with the children’s ministry there.
This helps me to both use my nursing knowledge, as well as learn to communicate
with both adults and children, two large populations in the hospital which I enjoy
working with. I am very skilled in therapeutic communication and use both my
compassion and empathy to strengthen the communication. Also, I am very good at
my time management skills and am flexible with my time. This especially helped
during my preceptorship when I was taking up to four or five patients, having to be
organized in order to provide the best patient-centered care possible.
As stated earlier, I am very passionate about the area of oncology. My mom is
currently an oncology nurse at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and she has inspired me
to pursue this career and this area specifically. Having spent time on a BMT unit at
Banner Tucson and a day at the Arizona Cancer Center, I can definitely tell that I
have a love for not only the field but the patient population. I not only want to help
give them the care that they need physically, but also the emotional support that
they deserve.
Thank you for your time and your consideration of my resume attached. I
hope to hear from you soon and look forward to hopefully joining the wonderful
team you already have at your hospital. My contact information is listed below.
Thank you!

Sincerely,
Rachel Moses
