1. Objective of intended electives

 To gain exposure to different types of cases in neurosurgery department

 To familiarize with standard operating procedure in neurosurgery department
 To attain the experience of handling and discussing neurology cases with neurology
specialist team
 To observe and learn various procedures which are common in neurosurgery department
 To know the clinical skills and training required in the neurosurgery speciality.

2. Brief description of electives program

I will undergo four weeks of electives posting in the neurosurgery department at Hospital Queen
Elizabeth II, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. During this posting, I will tag along with consultants,
medical officers and house officers on ward rounds. Besides, I can participate in case discussions
and observe procedures performed in the ward. If the patients are cooperative, I will also clerk
cases and perform general and systemic examination. Other than that, I will attend OPD postings
and observe the consultants handling cases. Moreover, I will attend and observe any operative
procedures if given permission to do so.

3. Time period of electives

My electives posting will be from 4th March 2019 to 31st March 2019 which is a duration of 4
weeks. On weekdays, I will attend the postings from 8am to 5pm. I will also attend postings on
weekends if it is required by the head of department.
