The main goal of this research is to determine the adjustment level of

Grade 11 newcomers with regard to the environment, teachers, classmates,
subjects, and expenses in Aurora National Science High School. The research
also aimed to see if the adjustment level of Grade 11 newcomers significantly
affects their academic performance. The researchers used a correlation
descriptive design. Pearson Product Moment Correlation in Statistical Package
for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and weighted mean are the statistical tools
utilized by the researchers in analysing the gathered data.
There are greater numbers of male Grade 11 newcomers than female
newcomers. Most of the Grade 11 newcomers attended their Junior High
School in national high schools. Most of the Grade 11 newcomers have
qualified a very satisfactory general average in the first semester. The
adjustment level of Grade 11 newcomers with respect to the environment,
teachers, classmates, subjects, and expenses in Aurora National Science High
School ranges from 2.5-3.4, all having an average level of adjustment. The
researchers found out that there exist a negatively weak relationship between
the adjustment level and academic performance of Grade 11 newcomers
(r= -0.334) but not significant at 5% level of significance (p-value=0.071 is
greater than 0.05). The researchers concluded that the adjustment levels of the
Grade 11 newcomers do not significantly affect their academic performance.
