A Responsible Youth, Warrior on the Playing Field (Sports)

The world nowadays is quite a terrible one. Crimes and scandals are everywhere. Sadly,
many of today’s youth generation, which are supposed to be the hope for a brighter future, are
involved in various scandals and even in the commission of heinous crimes. Nevertheless, from
my perspective as a student of Joyland School, I can say that the youths from this community are
performing the other way around. Indeed, we are lucky enough for having been painstakingly
guided, not only by our parents but also by the school, which serves as our second home while we
are away from our respective families. One of the remarkable contributions of our beloved alma
mater in the area of developing responsible youthhood is its faith and commitment to sports
development. The Joyland School has been consistently producing outstanding athletes from
different sports fields. One of those who excel in his field is Joewyn Pascua, an 8th grader lawn
tennis hotshot, who has good prestige in his name.

Joewyn has been winning both in the local and international tournaments. His recent
performance of the Asian Tennis Federation under 14 categories held at Kuching Sarawak,
Malaysia last September 4-8, 2019, once again, proved his prowess in the racket sport. "It was fun
and full of excitement. I am proud of myself for winning this international event", says the 14-year
old Joylander when asked about how he feels on his latest accomplishment. If you happen to talk
with this guy, you can feel the warrior spirit that is inside of him. As he quipped, he will “continue
playing his chosen sport and try to improve every day" not only for himself and his parents but
also for the Joyland community who invest trust in him and to represent his proud country,
Philippines.

Truly enough, his hard work and perseverance, along with his profound passion for the
sport, are what make him stand out. He got undeniably great talents and potentials which, guarantee
a chance of making a big name in the future through nurturing and sustaining these skills. Careful
on his words, ferocious on the playing field, he is Joewyn - a great example to every athlete and
youth that is worth to imitate.
