Adoption of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system for the Western Mindanao State

University (WMSU) – College of Engineering

This project aims to extend the use of the existing WMSU RFID system. The system is
solely used for entering the campus. A management system will be used to organize data collection
and storage. This project will help in managing data using a network for College of Engineering.
The system will function by getting the code of the RFID card and compare it with our database
in Microsoft Access. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) will be developed using Visual Basic 6.0
to make and access the database and perform specific tasks accordingly. The following are the
steps for the RFID system: a) the admin needs to input password; b) choose a task: display the data
one at a time and enable to input data, continue reading data, and continue reading with specific
data parameters (e.g. schedule, student name); c) chosen task will finish when all required inputs
and data are gathered. After accomplishing necessary steps, the admin has created a new
manageable system in accordance with the needs of the service. Located at the lower middle of the
interface is a button to enable the RFID reader. The RFID reader will be connected to a computer
through USB. The admin can access the database via the GUI for the information of the students
such as the code for respective RFID card, student’s name, course, and identification number.
