PITCH - core elements

1) Hook
Open with provocative and relatable emotional state
Goal: create a bridge between listener and key dilemma of story
Transition from general opener to specific story concept

2) Set-up the World


Include factors like time, place, values, style, etc.

3) Set up the protagonist (hero/heroine)


Initial abilities, world view and values as the story begins

4) Intro the core obstacle (often an antagonist and/or escalating challenges)


Present in order of increasing jeopardy
Emphasize the aspect of hero that will make the conflict
particularly difficult for him/her
Imply how hero changes as stakes increase

5) Indicate how the story kicks off and concisely build towards climax
with a few cinematic details
Begin with the inciting incident
Include a few compelling cinematic moments

6) Suggest final resolution and thematic impact


Imply resolution to both plot and character arc
How do you want your audience to feel at the end?

7) Final Thoughts and/or Questions


Anything special you want them to know, such as
style, production, budget, casting or other elements
that make it a good fit for UNCSA production parameters
