OBJECTIVES: creating and saying the jazz chant at least 8 lines.

ACTIVITIES: PRE-LESSON
Teacher writes two words of contractions. Pupils read the words. Teacher explains when
contractions are used.

LESSON DEVELOPMENT
Activity 1
Pupils take turn to write the contractions they have learnt on the board
Pupils say out all the words they have written on the board.
Teacher corrects their pronunciation.

Activity 2
1. Teacher reads a jazz chant with some contractions.
2. Pupils listen and repeat.
3. Pupils say out the jazz chant in pairs

Activity 3
1.Pupils work in groups to create one jazz chant at least 8 lines
2. Pupils practice the jazz chant in their group
3.Pupils present their jazz chant

POST-LESSON:
1. Pupils write a dialogue at least 2 sentences using contractions
