2. The Performance Characteristics of Solar Air Conditioner
 Our solar thermal air conditioner products utilise both solar thermal and
electrical energy. The solar thermal energy supplements the electrical energy to
reduce the energy demands on the system’s compressor leading to considerable energy
savings for the user.

 According to the laws of thermodynamics, our solar air conditioners will save you
significant running costs on your air conditioning requirements. The degree of savings
depends primarily on the ambient temperature of your region so results may vary
depending on latitude and longitude. Given the system uses the ambient temperature
as the energy source, energy savings can be achieved day or night.

 The compressor (internationally famous brand), cools and heats efficiently,

operates smoothly and runs on low load. As a result, this extends the service life of the
componentry.

 The operation of the system is calm. The air conditioner uses advanced
off-centre blades, foam air ducting and a high performance fan system. These all serve
to reduce the noise of the system accordingly.

 Being reverse cycle, the heating function of the solar air conditioner is perfect
for cold areas and brings users the comfort of warmth on cold days. Due to the way the
system operates, it saves more electricity when compared with 100% electrical heating.

 The system is elegant, graceful, and neatly designed to provide an attractive

appearance.

 Operation is convenient and simple. Not only has it been designed for user
comfort and enjoyment in both cooling and heating, but it is energy efficient and
provides considerable cost savings to the user.

5. Solar Air Conditioner Application

Pre-checking
♦ Please check if the earth wire is correctly connected.
♦ Please check if the air filter(s) are properly in position.
♦ If the solar air conditioner is idle for a long time, please rinse the air filter(s)
before start-up. For more details, please consult the chapter Repair and
Maintenance.
♦ The inlet opening and the outlet opening of the indoor and the outdoor units
should be unblocked.

Optimum operation
♦ Set a comfortable temperature. Avoid exceedingly hot or cold settings, as these
will demand higher demand from the compressor.
• When cooling, if available, draw curtain or shutters to prevent direct sunlight
into the room being cooled.
♦ Please shut any windows and doors as appropriate, otherwise the convection of
indoor and outdoor air will decrease the effect of cooling and heating
♦ If you need to set the pre-runtime, please use the remote controller.
♦ Never place obstacles or barriers near the indoor and outdoor unit's airflow paths.
It will decrease the effect of air conditioner system or potentially even stop the
running of the system.
♦ Please clean the air filter frequently. If the air strainer is blocked, it decreases
effect of cooling and heating.

10. Common Failures Diagnosis and Elimination
Non-failure Phenomena
1. When you turn on or turn off the solar air conditioner, sometimes you may hear a
hissing sound – this is the initial flowing sound of the refrigerant agent and is not a
malfunction.
2. The solar air conditioner does not immediately restart at once after it stops, even
though it is switched on. The compressor will restart within 3 minutes in the
COOL, DRY and HEAT modes.
3. Sometimes, the solar air conditioner may expel a less than clean smelling air –
this is no failure of the solar air conditioner, only a reminder that the filter
screens needs cleaning.
4. When heating, the indoor machine and the outdoor machine may stop
simultaneously, but the compressor still runs. It is on defrosting mode should this
occur. The heating performance will continue after defrosting finished.
5. When heating, the outdoor machine may generate water flow or hydrosphere.
This is a result of defrosting and thawing and is not a malfunction.
6. As the air conditioning systems starts and stops, it may beep. This is a result of
self balanced pressure and is not a malfunction.

Hints for Saving Energy:

1. Never jam the air inlet and the air outlet of the solar air conditioner. The air
conditioner will not run normally and may be damaged if the outlets are
obstructed.
2. When cooling, try and avoid direct sun radiation into the room. Please use your
curtains or sun shield if you have them. If the wall and ceiling of the room is
heated by sunshine, the period for attaining the desired cooling temperature is
extended.
3. Always keep the air filter screens clean. Filter screen clamming will greatly
reduce the efficiency of the air conditioner.
4. Keep your windows, doors and any other openings closed so as to avoid the cool
air escaping.
